  A Popular Question Raised by people who were never JW.

  i talk to a lot of people about the watchtower because it comes up in conversation all of the time.. money eventually becomes a topic as it is a very wealthy corporation.. so the question is always raised and it is a good one, "who controls it?".

  people want to know "who has the power of the purse strings?

  " and quite frankly so do i.. there is someone behind the scenes who knows so much that the wtbts could never fire him or her.

  What you have done is convinced yourself or believed something which has never occurred. Not surprised though, as the Watchtower and its supporters and/or members have years of indoctrinating and "stories" that go around being presented as fact or truth.

  Bad enough the Watchtower Society has ruined many lives and families by its story-telling or interpretation to say the least. If you're going to tell a tall-tale, try to be a little more original.

  Or perhaps we'll hear a "Smurf" story next.

  And Wrath of Jehu, nice shift of focus from the leadership to the 'common' members. Discussion on how the financial leadership of the Watchtower business turns into a "poor Witnesses are attacked once again". Are there many sincere, genuine people who make of Jehovah's Witneeses? Sure. That can be said for any organization or cult. It doesn't make what they have as being some sort of "truth" or leave the organization they support without reproach or just downright crooked.

  It saddens me to think there are (many) people that are saddened by any organization being questioned.

  "In 1948, the Romanian government imposed a ban on Jehovah's Witnesses that lasted until 1989. Many Witnesses were arrested and sent to prison or labor camps, and members of the religion had limited communication with other Witnesses and studied largely from older books and magazines. In 1962, The Watchtower altered its doctrine on the meaning of the phrase "superior authorities" at Romans 13:1, identifying them as human governmental authorities rather than God and Jesus Christ as formerly thought. Many Witnesses in Romania rejected the change, and some suspected it was a communist fabrication intended to make them subservient to the state. After the Romanian ban was lifted, members and representatives of the Governing Body of Jehovah's Witnesses were able to meet thousands of long-separated Romanian Witnesses, but some Romanians still rejected certain changes and preferred their autonomy, forming The True Faith Jehovah's Witnesses Association in 1992."

  -1916 = Worldly Governments or Authorities
  [Studies in the Scriptures Series I - The Divine Plan of the Ages (1916 edition) page 266]

  -1929 = Jehovah God and Jesus Christ
  [Watchtower June 1 and June 15, 1929]

  -1950 = Jehovah God and Jesus Christ
  [This Means Everlasting Life (1950) page 197]

  -1962 = Worldly Governments or Authorities
  [Babylon the Great Has Fallen! God's Kingdom Rules! (1962) page 548]

  -1990 = Worldly Governments or Authorities
  [Watchtower November 1, 1990, page 11]

  So the "Superior Authorities" were Worldly Governments or Authorities from 1886-1929. From 1929-1962 'new light' flashed forth making the "Superior Authorities" Jehovah and Jesus. Then finally more 'new light' flashing forth brought the teachings of “Super Authorities” to Jehovah's Witnesses from 1962 onward back to the original teaching of 1886....LOL....Gotta love it :P

  Tuesday, September 11, 2001 - The Day My JW Faith Began to Die (finally)

  it was late june of 2001 that i was appointed as an elder at the amazingly seasoned age of 26. a true lifelong goal had been achieved.

  i had to be appointed an elder before 30. already, peers were starting to be appointed.

  i had to make it.

  Zombie computer games

  so carrot has borrowed some games for his wii from a bloke at work, and one of the games is called ''dead rising''.

  from what i can see you have to kill all the zombies in a shopping centre.... well carrot has got hold of a chainsaw and is slaughtering all the zombies... he is laughing uncontrollably and keeps saying that it's the best game ever!.

  is it me or is this something men should have grown out of when they left puberty??.

  Personally, I've been playing video games for over 30 years and have no intension to ever stop doing so.

  I believe the mainstream concept of video games being for only "kids" or "boys", died out around, during, or shortly thereafter computers were only for "geeks".

  hello all jwn .

  so glad to have that over with- it was surreal to walk in the kh after two years...it is just a building to me now (not "jehovah's house").

  i must say that now i'm on the outside...what a boring sad building- the people were not joyful and friendly (just older and fatter than i remember)- i got the nervous stares and shaky "hi" when i looked at all of them and said hello.. my mom was sitting all by herself in the front row of the hall...i went and sat by her side.

  The viewpoint and hypocrisy has not changed. Not just 50 years, but 70 years later with gems such as:

  The July 2009 Awake! magazine on page 29:

  "No one should be forced to worship in a way that he finds unacceptable or be made to choose between his belief and his family."

  What needs to be added to the above statement is "unless you are or were one of Jehovah's Witnesses"..lol.

  Stating you cannot compare something the Watchtower stated from 1930 to more modern times is a similar notion that the Watchtower can bash other religions (I.E. Catholics) for things that were done or stated hundreds of years ago; but things their organization did was just 'old light' or 'God's direction at that time' for them.

  WT books thrown into the dumpster...

  for the last few weeks i have been pretty busy as we were moving to a new house.

  my wife did most of the packing but when it came to the move, i realized that there are things we own that we had forgotten about because we haven't used them for years!

  on top of the list was old wt publications that no longer contain the "truth" and publications available on the wt cd.

  Jesus is NOT the Mediator for the Great Crowd?

  so according to the watchtower, jesus is not the mediator for the great crowd.

  evidently jesus is only mediator for the anointed.

  this means that about 99.9% of jehovahs witnesses cant say that jesus is their mediator.

  The same point was brought up in a more relatively recent publication...

  Worldwide Security Under the "Prince of Peace" on page 10, paragraph 16:
  “Likewise, the Greater Moses, Jesus Christ, is not the Mediator between Jehovah God and all mankind. He is the Mediator between his heavenly Father, Jehovah God, and the nation of spiritual Israel, which is limited to only 144,000 members.”
  
  That is again, despite this:

  1 Timothy 2: 5, 6:
  “For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, a man, Christ Jesus, who gave himself a corresponding ransom for all”

  There is nothing special or different with Jehovah's Witnesses than any other place where a group of people meet regularly and consistently. Personalities will click or clash, and certain people and lifestyles (I.E. wealth or/and looks) will just gravitate towards one another.

  The noteworthy thing in connection with Jehovah's Witnesses is how there's this facade of love from many; which is not demonstrated regularly to all members; only towards those in their so called-clique or 'circle of friends'.

  Even then, the whole thing is by far and large conditional. They are some of the most circumstantial and conditional friendships you will ever encounter, for the most part. Further, it is all hinging upon obedience to the direction of a few men in Brooklyn and their publication.

  Always have to love the good ol' interpretation of the statue in Daniel by the Watchtower Society. I especially love the leaving out of the Mongol Empire. Existing during the 13th and 14th century, it was the largest contiguous empire in the history of the world.

  In connection with that, we have the Black Death/Plague. It killed off anywhere between 30-60% of Europe's population.

  Between the Mongol Empire and what many will call the worst times of human history, the Watchtiwer needs to try hardder with its 'persuasion'. Imagine in the the country you live in today...1 out of every 3 or even 2 out of every 3 people die in your neighborhood/land, surely it would be "the end" at hand, right? It didn't happen during the 1300's.

  The Watchtower really needs to learn how to work the Mongol Empire in and I would love to see an explantion how 1914 onward has been worse than the 13th/14th centuries for the human race.

  So they're increasing the 'shows'...Instead of just one, they're up to three dramas...NICE. Maybe they also need to start a JW Music genre and sell to the masses to draw the people in. The Governing Body "unplugged" is sure to draw attention.
