If Scientologists can get away with being called and being classified as a *religion* the JWs can get away with DFing people and doing the nutty things they do. Which, in comparison, are a lot more biblical based than L. Ron Hubbard.

Given that, a lawsuit is a pipe dream.

But, good luck. Negative press on them is good.

Armageddon

Well, I started to post a long post, answered the phone, hit a button and my screen changed. Opps.

I was looking for an e-mail from my ardent JW mom, where she is literally laughing and just about cheering that people will be dying at Armageddon because This System of Things is, in her opinion, So Bad.

Her opinion on most things is very negative. Very negative. If someone is having a bad hair day, she will gleefully point it out.

So, what was your view of Armageddon?

Were you breathlessly waiting for billions and billions of people to die so you could see Paradise?

My personal hope for Armageddon had to do with Paradise. I was young when I left the JWs (18ish) and my hope for Paradise was very strong. I wanted to be perfect and pet wild animals. I remember, vividly, the pictures in the literature, which showed people screaming in fear and falling into craters. I recall more vividly the pictures of trees and Lions being petted. That is what I was holding out for.

So, again, what was your view/hope about Armageddon? As I read the thread about Ted J., I was thinking about all the people in the JWs whose hopes hinge upon Armageddon and Paradise. And how leaving the JWs has to impact that dream.

Watch Porn

Get drunk more than once (Hiccup)

Oral Sex

Hang out with Worldlies

Watch movies wiht Satan or Demons in them

Go on the Internet without being worried Demons are going to come through the Computer!

Buy antiques without being worried they will be possessed and bring Demons in my home

Buy a 2-door car

Hang a flag from my house

Join the Military

Salute the Flag

Say Pledge of Allegiance

Go to any church I want and I won't be struck dead (I have gone to many; I'm still here, typing)

Go to funerals for Worldlies--they appreciate it

Eat blood sausage

Join a sports team

Play sports

Exercise

Swear

Earn as much money as I want without being *Marked* as greedy

And on and on (I'm editing and adding as I think of more)

See how Nutz they are?

for about a year or so, i have hid in the darkness peeking at this site and following everyone else's story.

i have learned more than i expected from so many.

Ummm, Don, how did they know you were performing oral sex on your (ex) wife? Just asking?

Not going into any other religion's place of worship is insane. But, a good way to control you. They whole *You might get demonized* is always a good way to frighten the masses.

And, an oldie but a goodie: Can't go to someone's funeral if the person saying the mass will be a pastor or minister from another religious organization. You'd be endorsing that religion. Of course you would. Why show respect for a friend or co-worker?

Demons is a catch all frighten the masses term they can use for anything they want to control you with.

Do You HATE The Watchtower Organization?

when i read some comments here, it looks like some actually hate the organization.

I hate what they did to my family. They being the collective group of Russel, Rutherford, Franz (the elder) and all the zealots who followed like sheep. And that includes all the past and current COs, POs, Elders, GBs, MSs, everyone in a position of power, including those 10 year-old boys who can make an adult woman put a napkin on her head when praying in his presence.

Rutherford got my great-grandparents. It trickled down to me.

I am convinced that there has to be an element of mental instability in the people recruited and the people who stay. Similar to Scientologists. Believe me, if you knew my relatives, the ones who are the most ardent JWs, you would agree. If you are honest, if you look deep into your own family and friends and read psychological profiles, you might admit that there is "something" there. Something nutz.

Just my layperson opinion.

As for hating *the WTS*; if a hijacker got on a plane, happened to fly it into the Brooklyn headquarters and every other place that they publish mags and books, I would not feel that saddness and horror I felt on 9-11-01 when the twin towers were hit.
