Will jws be at your and your neighbor's doorstep this Saturday?

i would think that a portion of the non-jw population might be at church.

i don't think there are any football games that day.

what would you say or recommend to your non-jw neighbors?.

I talked to my Mom yesterday and asked her what she was doing on Saturday? She sounded confused because she had just got done dissing Xmas. I had told her we were getting together with the DHs family, etc.

"Oh, you know how people are, they all get together, eat, drink and fight. Oh, and exchange those stupid gifts."

Umm, what day is that I asked?

"I have no idea" She said.

I asked if she were going out in FS Saturday.

"Yes, of course." She said.

I told her she better get ready for lots of angry, hung over Worldly people telling her to get lost.

I told her Xmas was Saturday.

"Oh!??, Well, I'll just get together with the people from the congregation and we'll hang out then." She said.

WTF? I told her to enjoy herself. Especially since she wasn't celebrating or anything. She missed the point of the hypocrisy of them getting together on Xmas.

I did send her a "Season's Greetings" card for the first time this year. I will wait for the fall out.

Do You Believe Your Government or Political Party Affiliation Is Righteous?

i know some that tout their government as being blameless, wonderful, and almost perfect.

whether you are considered a "liberal" or "conservative", it seems that some are "true believers" in their cause.. personally, i'm disillusioned with politics although i'm always interested and fascinated by ideology and personalities.. i think all governments are unrighteous.

i think some individuals mean well but the higher in government that you are, the more soiled you become..

Has anyone noticed that they are really pushing that Satan is after us and how much the world hates us.

it seems like the january 15th wt and the march 15 wt are about satan attacking us.

maybe it is because i am seeing things more clearly or maybe they are truly using it more.

they are really getting into the fact that the world hates us a quote from the jan 15th wt on page 30 says "the world is basically hostile toward us.

I hear this so often from my JW relatives, I want to puke.

I got the chain e-mail about the Russian KH being torched and was told that JWs are being persecuted worldwide! I was further told that this has been going on for years--at least since WW II. I was told how my aunts were picked on for not saluting the flag (?? was this done in the early 40's ) , not celebrating B-days, etc. Odd that they would consider that "persecution" and that Satan was singling them out.

I e-mailed back that, indeed, I understood, having gone through similar things as a young child. Oh, they responded and were seemingly horrified to have heard this for the first time. (Uh, no, they told us to stand up for Jehovah, continually when we told them as kids. Short memories.)

I hear all the time that "This System" is almost over and Satan is behind every mishap that befalls someone. I have put the phone on mute a few times and screamed. Literally. I am told to pray to Jehovah for the strength to get through the day. WTF good had that ever done? Especially when I am shovelling my driveway. Honestly, they are nuts. Totally nuts.

People leaving a Cult seem to need someone to tell them how to think. Especially seems so with Progressive Liberals. They want and seem to need someone, anyone, to tell them "It's allright. It's OK. We're here for you. We will take care of you. All you have to do is put your trust in US. That is the U.S. Government. We'll tell you how to eat. What sausage to cook. What toy to play with. What seat belt to wear. What vitamin levels are OK."

See how that works? Progressively more and more Government intrusion and they just suck it up. They ask for more Big Government. Because, just like the Governing Body telling us we couldn't wear skirts or have oral sex, the U.S. Government really does know how to live our lives better than we do. Don't they?

Just like they begged for the New System to come and wipe out humanity. All so they could pet a Lion and be perfect. In the New System.

Change is Good.

my father in law passed away today.

he was not a witness, but as he got to be more and more house bound, he would attend sunday meetings with my husband or my brother in law.

tomorrow, a "brother" is buying the family dinner, im not welcome.

As a woman in the truth what went through your head when you realized that us sister had to cover our heads?

ok i was raised in the "truth" but no one ever studied with me.

my parents were abusive and i got nothing from them or anyone in the "truth" no bible study any attention nothing from anyone.. i read the great teacher book to myself at the age of seven, and when i was in my mid teens i started studying on my own with no help from anyone nor any answers my questions expect to be rebuked if i asked the wrong question so i quit asking it was god's chosen religion after all who was i to question anything.

i conducted the sort of study and this elder looked at me and said where is your head covering.

When my mom put a napkin (paper, very cheap from the grocery store) on her head because a young boy was in the room and she was leading the prayer, I knew this was totally f-cked up. Totally. I was about 9 at the time. I giggled and got a dirty glare. Then a slap in the car for not showing respect to that young boy.

When I went to college and learned about Muslims and learned that they kept women down the same way, I never looked back and never went back. I was out. I tried to explain to my mom that JWs were very similar to the Muslims that way--she would scream at me to STFU. Hopeless.

Are former Witnesses JERKS at times?

i recently came across something online, in which someone was talking to the society to complain about another 'active' witness, not getting in trouble.

what i learned, as i listened and read the follow-up.

was that the person calling was a former witness, disfellowshipped for something they thought was unfair.

I get both sides.

I hear the JWs continually witness to me personally. I hear "The End is Near", "The System yada yada yada". It takes all the patience in me not to tell them to STFU. I have comethisclose. I put my cell phone on mute a few times and screamed. But, what is the point? They just believe and won't change. They have been convinced since they were kids. And now they are in their 70's.

Then I hear and read my sister actually do it. And it is ugly. She pulls out no stops wishing ugly things on JWs she swears did what she did. (The *F* word--Fornication!!! :-0 )

So? That was 30 years ago. What the f-ing good is to come from trying to bring down your teenage nemesis now? Simple satisfaction that *they* are hypocrites.

I agree, get over it.

Children of adult ex-jw's

my wife and i were both jw's for the past 28 years.

we left two years ago, we wrote our da letters and split.. my wife felt very contained, there was no room to grow.

i started to fade slowly, but when my mom died, i saw the complete lack of love from the brothers and that sealed the deal for me.. we have two sons, 22 and 26, who we raised as witnesses, not the die hard type, just try and do your best.

I was raised in it as was my sister. She became the angry one who is now a vocal atheist. I am very quiet about my beliefs. She is so angry in fact that if our still in parent and or relatives (who speak to her in spite of her being DFd) send her e-mails with any type of JW message or alluding to "Good News" or the "System of Things", she goes ballistic and sends off a tirade on how stupid they are and why Atheists Rule!!!

She will then send our mother lists of why she hates the JWs. It is really sad and sick. It gets her no where and our mother is never going to leave the dubs. She is hard core and needs that social club/cult. BTW, my sis has been out for 30 years, so I don't know if it gets any better.
