How come Perry hates atheists so much?
What have they ever done to him?
jws & atheists - great (cultic) minds think alike.
in the jehovahs witness religion, there is a ceremony known in those circles as the memorial of christs death, or just the memorial for short.
it is claimed and believed among members that jehovahs witnesses observe the exact same ceremony that is more widely known as the lords supper among christians.

"the good, say the mystics of spirit, is god, a being whose only definition is that he is beyond man's power to conceive- a definition that invalidates man's consciousness and nullifies his concepts of existence...man's mind, say the mystics of spirit, must be subordinated to the will of god... man's standard of value, say the mystics of spirit, is the pleasure of god, whose standards are beyond man's power of comprehension and must be accepted on faith....the purpose of man's life...is to become an abject zombie who serves a purpose he does not know, for reasons he is not to question.. .
for centuries, the mystics of spirit had existed by running a protection racket - by making life on earth unbearable, then charging you for consolation and relief, by forbidding all the virtues that make existence possible, then riding on the shoulders of your guilt, by declaring production and joy to be sins, then collecting blackmail from the sinners.. .
...if devotion to truth is the hallmark of morality, then there is no greater, nobler, more heroic form of devotion than the act of a man who assumes the responsibility of thinking.... the alleged short-cut to knowledge, which is faith, is only a short-circuit destroying the mind.
That's because knowledge leads us faithful to be forgiving and tolerant of ourselves as well as others.
You must be joking, snowbird!
The most vicious and protracted of human conflicts are rooted in disputes about interpretations of god. Faith leads to a much greater level of intolerance.
Look at the the wave of bombings and violence that resulted from the publication of a cartoon in Denmark a little while back. When people professing faith are willing to kill other people on the basis of cartoon, then I think the world would be a much better place without religious faith.
dumbest:.
once in a public talk i heard the speaker say that you get sunburnt more easily when you are in the mountains because you are closer to the sun.. .

Funniest:
In that shocker of a public talk "A godly view of sex and marriage" (always guaranteed to produce a few laughs) the PO of our congregation was warning us of the evils of masturbation and he told us that we needed to "get a firm grip on ourselves"!
sure the wt deceived you with its claim to be god's channel but why for so many is there a subsequent loss of faith in god ?
it puzzles me and makes me wonder why they were jw's in the first place..
Same as Elsewhere for me too.
I left when I understood evolution and I realised that there was no creator god.
It was (and still is) very liberating.
my friends, we are in a precarious condition that worsens by the minute and shows no signs of relenting.
that's right folks, global tilting.
not many people know about global tilting, but it is the angle produced when an imaginary rod is rammed through the center of the globe's rotation and an angle relationship taken between that rod and an arbitrary "up.
Oh I see, JD.
Forgive me - I was barking up the wrong tree.
Lets see.
Problem: Fat Americans are causing the Earth to tilt.
Solution: Australians need to beef up to counter-balance the effect. Alternatively, you could send a whole bunch of your fatties down here to smooth out the wobbles.
Well I'll do my bit. (--munches chips - ***guzzles beer***)

Howdy JD.
It's actually worse than you think!
The Earth is tilted on its axis just over 23° from the perpendicular.
It's all part of a cycle that sees the angle range from around 21° to just over 24°. It is known as the Milankovitch Cycle and occurs over millions of years.
This tilt may have been caused when an enormous meteor slammed into the Earth several billion years ago. The impact was so great that the surface of the Earth became molten
and a huge amount of material was shot into space where it eventually coalesced into the Moon.
Anyway it's a good thing, this tilt. It gives us our seasons as it causes a differential in the amount of sunlight any particular part of the Earth receives as it progress through its orbit of the Sun.
this question is for those who have attended another church since leaving the jw's.. i have considered attending a local church, firstly out of curiosity and secondly because i do enjoy discussing the bible with people and learning new thoughts on scripture.. the only thing that stops me though is crossing that line.
i guess it was a bit like when i first posted here, it took me ages to pluck up the courage and now what was the big deal?.
did anyone else have this feeling before attending another church, that feeling of crossing the line of no return.
A couple of years ago when I was in Paris I went to the Notre Dame Cathedral. I was mighty impressed with its grandeur and antiquity (~1000 yrs old).
While my gf and I were there they started a mass service so we sat through down and participated.
Didn't understand a word - it was in French of course - but I thought it was very impressive.
Something about a 1000 year old building and those ancient rites.
Still an atheist though.
the march 2009 american religious identification survey from trinity college and the march 7, 2009, national journal article on "rise of the godless" present the following data: .
when asked for their religious affiliation, 15 percent of americans say none, but only 0.7 percent say atheist ..... .
i present the above info just as a reminder that very, very few people consider themselves atheist despite decades of "scientific" propaganda suggesting otherwise.
Perry,
Now, for a moment let's forget about the overlapping dino/human footprints in 70 million year old rock that destroys the atheist/evolution world-view.
This is utter baloney. The last of the dinosaurs and the first hominids were separated by around 60 million years. Back to school for you!
Let's forget about the stinking, rotting soft dinosaur tissue that is being found in ever-increasing instances.
Clean out your fridge more often! You cannot be serious?
let's forget about the fundamental requirement to "know all things"
Well you obviously know very little of these biological themes that you so flippantly use to backhand evolution with. And whose "fundamental requirement" is it? Maybe you mean fundamentalist perhaps? Your statement is illogical.
I'll even overlook the fact that in atheism it is impossible to know right from wrong.
It always annoys me when theists make this claim. So it's only atheists who lie, steal, cheat, assault and murder others? There's no believers before the courts and in jail? It is intrinsic to humanity to know how to treat your fellow humans properly. If I was to punch you on the nose, I do so knowing that you will most likely do the same to me. If I was to buy you a beer, then there is a high probability that you will do the same for me. This basic tenant predates religion.
And, all known effects are the result from prior causes. There are simply no known effects without causes
Presumably you include your god in this statement? It is illogical if you do not. Who made your god?
Yet, everyday atheists must look at the matter around them and somehow believe that something came from nothing. This is the supreme definition of cognitive dissonance.
Every day I look around me and I am amazed at the fact that life exists in its grandeur and complexity. I am awe-struck that I am able to comprehend this existence. I can understand and enjoy music and art and the company of my fellow humans and fellow species.
well, i am gonna have to go again because my wife wants to go this year.
she missed last year because she was sick and was so depressed about it for a month after because of the guilt her stupid family laid upon my poor darling.
last night she was visiting her dad (the only one who didn't guilt her) and he asked if she was going to go this year.
If they pass you some wine, drink it all.
If they pass you some crackers, eat them all.
It'd be funny watching them have to go and refill the glass and bake some more crackers.
Plus your relo's wouldn't miss you so much next year.
blue whale is the largest animal on earth,.... it would take huge cranes and a lot of manpower to carry one of those animals,.... how did noah achieve this?.
did he have cranes and chains?.
did he have a large enough aquarium on board, with salt water?.
Forget the whales.
Why didn't Noah swat those two mosquitoes while he had the chance?
No more malaria, dengue fever, yellow fever, elephantiasis, encephalitis, etc.
And no more annoying bzzzzzzzzzz while you're trying to get to sleep at night.
Noah was an idiot!
