  it could easily go in either.. this topic has been discussed plenty of times.

  it seems to me that this is a much bigger problem in the jws than most people realize.

  can someone who knows please explain the nuts and bolts of shunning.

  i've never been df'd but half of my family has no contact with me at all.

  my sister even refused to answer the door when i called around once (only did it once).

  for centuries, the mystics of spirit had existed by running a protection racket - by making life on earth unbearable, then charging you for consolation and relief, by forbidding all the virtues that make existence possible, then riding on the shoulders of your guilt, by declaring production and joy to be sins, then collecting blackmail from the sinners.. .

  ...if devotion to truth is the hallmark of morality, then there is no greater, nobler, more heroic form of devotion than the act of a man who assumes the responsibility of thinking.... the alleged short-cut to knowledge, which is faith, is only a short-circuit destroying the mind.

  in the jehovahs witness religion, there is a ceremony known in those circles as the memorial of christs death, or just the memorial for short.

  it is claimed and believed among members that jehovahs witnesses observe the exact same ceremony that is more widely known as the lords supper among christians.

  not many people know about global tilting, but it is the angle produced when an imaginary rod is rammed through the center of the globe's rotation and an angle relationship taken between that rod and an arbitrary "up.

  sure the wt deceived you with its claim to be god's channel but why for so many is there a subsequent loss of faith in god ?

  How did you feel about attending another church?

  this question is for those who have attended another church since leaving the jw's.. i have considered attending a local church, firstly out of curiosity and secondly because i do enjoy discussing the bible with people and learning new thoughts on scripture.. the only thing that stops me though is crossing that line.

  i guess it was a bit like when i first posted here, it took me ages to pluck up the courage and now what was the big deal?.

  did anyone else have this feeling before attending another church, that feeling of crossing the line of no return.

  the march 2009 american religious identification survey from trinity college and the march 7, 2009, national journal article on "rise of the godless" present the following data: .

  when asked for their religious affiliation, 15 percent of americans say none, but only 0.7 percent say atheist ..... .

  i present the above info just as a reminder that very, very few people consider themselves atheist despite decades of "scientific" propaganda suggesting otherwise.
