dub: correct.. you: why then, when a jw is in a courtroom and the baliff says, "all rise for the honorable judge whatsherface, court is now in session," do jws stand up?
Í thought that difference lays in the fact, that the bible says you're not allowed to kneel down or worship statues and a flag is considered some kind of statue.
And then there is a difference between bending for a person out of respect or bending to worship.
I think that if an king would be considered as a god( like in some agent nations for example the egyptants), bending would be forbitten too.

Don't know JW's from Maastricht. I'm from the Hague that's the other side of Holland.
And I'm also df'd since 1999.
But you're right. In Holland education is verry important en social pressure to study is verry high. So most JW's also study longer. untill they're 24 or 25 years old.
And Holland is a real trading nation so making money is our second nature.

Myabe not all, but some of them are....some of the songs in the pink book are not longer in the brown book because of that reason.

I don't think it's the same situation everywhere.
I'm from holland and I'm sure, JW's are not the poorest religion. A lot of rich JW's on this site of the ocean.
But that's probably also the reason why so many of them leave the WTS, because we're smart
i get this statement all the time from my jw family.
that this system is in satan's control.
or that "this or that" is put here to test our faith.

i felt the need to share what i have heard recently.
i have a very close friend who has a brother who is an economist.
Our national debt is so high that soon other countries whoich are also hurting like us are going to say that's enough with the loans and will cut the US off from all loans when that happens we are screwed to the hilt.
That's never going to happen, because, the USA is an important Consumer of those countries products. So they will just keep on givving lones to the USA.

as i understand it, being gay is not a sin in the organization, only homosexual acts are sins.
i've never read anywhere that gay jw people are encouraged to "fix" their gayness and marry.. i've certainly known a fair number of confirmed bachelor types who live exemplary lives in the witness sense - one life-long bethelite i knew springs to mind - but are clearly (to me anyway) gay.
they've all been in the closet though.. i wonder if any jw has ever been out of the closet, but not disfellowshipped since they don't have sex?
What I noticed is that a lot of JW's think that if you are gay you're also a pedophile.
We had a single brother in the cong. from whom everybody knew he was gay.
He was a verry social person, but people were nice to him in his face, but behind his back they gossiped a lot about him saying realy mean and untrue things Like: be careful don't let your male children alone with him...
And I also gay, had a simulair experience, when my father found out I was was gay( and he was an elder) he said: What's the next step? doing it with little children? and he elders of the committee called me a pervert for doing it with men.
And this is in the netherlands, one of the most free countries for gays......
So you see, even if you would want to( Not me)...being gay and a JW is made almost impossible by the brothers and sisters in the congregation.
mrs mattieu went running out the doors with kids in tow (yes, i helped them get ready) in state of panic because tonights km part is all about showing respect for being taught by jehovah by being early to the meetings and how latecomers should be put before a judicial committee.
ok, made that last bit up.. i used to hate these parts on being late to the meetings as most would judge the late comers without fully understanding their work/family/health issues.. i dont have her km with me, but it mentioned that being late is something that should not be a regular occurrence and that we should be early to sit down and be ready to be taught by jehovah.. not sure if this article is particular to the australian km or being used worldwide, though will try and scan it through tomorrow.. mattieu...... .
