catholics or born again christians?.
i know someone who doesn't believe the j-dub doctrines but anytime he talks to a non-witness about religion he takes on this arrogant attitude that.
the witnesses know more about the bible than any other religion.
I would say that the Catholics had been more hated, they are a large single organization with a figurehead, so it is easy to pick on them.
I would say this is changing though. A lot of theists who leave the JWs go to churches I guess you would count as born-agains. They want to go to heaven and that allows them to have this belief. I know some exJWs go Catholic, but I would guess more turn to other christian faiths.

my husbands niece called him last night to proudly announce she was getting baptized this summer.this actually was a bit of a surprise to us.since she is 27 and was raised in the truth.
the family is not go getter witnesses.
they seem to just do the basics to get by and we figured since she had not gotten baptized in her teens like most of us born in's she just was not that in to it.
Like elsewhere said, make sure she knows what shunning means and that she will be putting herself at risk of that. Tell her that if in the future she makes a mistake, or she realizes she doesn't agree with something the JWs teach, that she could be shunned by her own parents.
I got away with a double life for years, never got caught, turned myself in because I couldn't take it anymore. No guilt, just couldn't stand being a JW anymore.

I guess 1 John 4:1 is pretty good to - I tested the inspired expressions and they failed.
i guess i was a lousy jw because i was never very good at preparing for all the meetings.
the "special needs" talk would point out how a good dub will buy out the opportune time.
start the day with the daily text, next listen to the wt on tape as you drive to work.
At one time I was a good JW and did all the studying. For some time I read every WT and Awake cover to cover. Towards the end of that time it was more a critical review, even made notes of descrepencies and looked up any source that they actually cited, most were out of context or not respected. It was taking too much time and cutting into my double life so I stopped. I would say that in the time I kept up with it I got all you can out of the pubs, they are just repetitions of the same thing for indoctrination. I gave up on preparing for talks too, at best I would look over the material about an hour before the meeting, that would do for anything for the theocratic ministry school or service meeting. When I had a public talk I would work on it the day before, then our meetings go changed to the afternoon so I prepared in the morning. It is amazing how simplistic the talks are.

For a time I thought some of the religions that didn't insist all scripture were literal were onto something, and then oneday it hit me: 2 Timothy 3:16 says all scripture is inspired of god. Some scriptures are clearly wrong. This realization destroyed my faith in the bible and was one of many steps towards me becoming an athiest.
So what do you think is the most damning scripture in the bible?
i was at a local laundry mat this past sunday and i found an awake from 1995 and a watchtower from 1989. i was amazed at how old these magazines were.
back in my day, the magazines i left behind were rarely over a year old, let alone 20. i have noticed this a lot lately and am wondering where all of these old magazines are coming from.
as i stated on a post a while back, i was in a laundry mat some time ago and i heard a man say "why are you looking forward to 1975?
There was a special needs part on this at a hall I attended, they said not to place mags more than a year or two old, that they may contain old understandings. Hell, anything before 95 could have a huge discrepancy in the current understanding of the generation.
There is some really wacky stuff in the old magazines, even the new ones I guess. Go back far enough and you get qwack medical advice in addition to failed prophecy. They are doing themselves a disservice by placing those, wish I could help with the effort but I threw all my WT stuff out.

why dis-associate, you are just playing by the wts rules?
how can you dis-associate anyway, you never thought you were baptised as a watchtower society member, you thought your dedication was to god, so why formally disassociate from something you did not formally join?
I do wonder, though, if you could argue your baptism is not valid. I never dedicated myself to god in prayer, which you are supposed to do before the public baptism. So did my baptism mean anything? That may be a valid arguement.

Anullment will not work. You can anull a legal union, but baptism is not legal. Even though baptism is in effect a contract, the seperation of church and state would prevent any court from granting such an anullment, and you know full well that the WTBTS would not grant an anullment.
