In all honesty I am atheist so I don't look for any forgivness. According to the Bible I would be considered an immoral person, but I don't live my life according to the bible and I make no apologies for my actions nor do I ask for forgiveness. I consider myself a person with a high set of morals that are based on love.

As far as the jest about having many wives and divorcing them, well it was just that a joke. I am an adult and the women I have had relations with have all been consenting adults. Sin is an idea created by men.

organization due to family members who are active and are blinded by wt teaching?.

how many husbands, like myself, go to meetings so as not to destroy their marriage?.

a co-worker of mine whose family (2 daughters, wife) are jw's related a funny story yesterday.

his wife and daughters missed the friday portion of the convention last week in order to attend a wedding of a worldly relative.

at dinner she mentioned to him that she would go to the convention this friday to make up for the one she missed.. he then asked why and she said so she could get the information she missed.

Highdoes I think many of us learned the ablility to retreat to our own little world but still seem to be paying perfect attention. Like you I could look up scriptures, clap, keep my eyes focused on the speaker and all while not hearing a word that was being said :P

As a child I spent hours imagining what it would be like to be spider man swinging and climbing all around the coliseum.

I also imagined cutting the wires of the giant scoreboard thingy hanging from the ceiling that was directly above the speaker. Sometimes I actually imagined saving the speaker…

As I got older and really got into the whole JW thing I really tried to pay attention. But often just started thinking about all the sister’s I wanted to bone instead.

Just witnessed this...

i just witnessed my mother and step father put the end to a friendship my 9 year old sister had with a "worldly" person.

it was heartbreaking.

this is someone she has been friends with for a few years and all of a sudden it's a problem now?

That really sucks MrFreeze. I had so many potential close friends from school, but I was never allowed to see them outside of school. It was such a sham!

My wife's out and we're very happy

i feel a bit guilty.

people on this forum were very friendly and helpful to me when i was in the in-between phase between brainwashing and freedom.. i also got a lot of help and advice and sympathy when i was trying to get my wife out.. but when she did leave, i forgot all about you guys, and we got on with our lives, and have never been happier.

honestly, life is soooo damn good now, i worry i might have reached the peak and things will only get worse from here.. we are amazed at how much our children enjoy birthdays and christmas - how healthy, normal and fun these things are.

If You Were Ever An Elder...

what about the responsibility of being an elder did you dislike the most?

i served from september 2003 - june 2006. there were two things that bugged me the most the first was i got sick of the bickering amongst the body.

we had 7 elders and in nearly every situation, big or small, there was some division that got personal.

What an interesting thread. I was never an elder, didn't even make it to MS. (I got reproved a few times :P)

But I greatly enjoyed reading this thread.

july 4th is my birth date...and no matter what i say, they insist on lighting off fireworks and throwing a parade !

lol .

as a kid it was always pretty depressing to have two things going on in one day that i couldn't participate in.
