hello all.. this is a quote from an earlier conversation in the 1975 thread.. are you saying that the garden was weeded from those who put too much faith in "god's spirit-directed organization"?

did these people listen to too much of their "food at the proper time"?.

unfortunately, i never received a response from smartgirlpw, only insults of "boo boos" and truth hurting.. i would like to know if you personally (yes, i am asking for your opinion here, your pearls, or two cents) believe that you should not take very seriously what is stated in the wt publications, and if so, or even if not, please explain.. this was my original question before i lashed out at you for claiming we were having a pitty party and you began to lash out at me, java, pathofthorns, trevor, etc.

You've made thought provoking statements, that NEEDED TO BE MADE, to "reach" reality. These "statements," may have offended some, but inadvertently they have revealed, and identified a "serious" problem on this board. Like in grade school, and even in WTS LAND, PEER PRESSURE...conformity. A "subjective" viewpoint on all things...the norm, must be tolerated at all times.

Ahh, complement her and insult us in one go. Very clever MDS. And, when she did call us "wah wah" pitty party babies, that just shows her maturity on... the... subject. (Hey, maybe she will think you are right! Great idea! Genius, we stupid.... her smart...)

Not so...the argument can be "subjective," or it can be "objective." Your arguments are "objective," ... but your opponents are always "subjective," in their presentations of their "side of the issues," at stake. They are the majority. But the marjority can be wrong.

Many people who take one statement that another has made and regard it as a declaration instead of an answer to a question by default hold the statement as "objective" anyway, MDS. DUUUUUUUUUHHHH.

I think you have said a lot. You stand for what you believe. And you are not the follower, a "Yes-person". You don't just go along with the "majority," the crowd. Just because "they" say it, you don't have to "go along to get along." You've amply demonstrated that.

Sure she's not a "yes-person" follower, that is why she is leaving this board for not having found rank and file JWs.

You really do need to take a chill pill and read the posts between Smartgril, JAVA, trevor, Pathofthorns, myself and others. You will see that ANYONE who has their hand forced on a hot plate is going to jerk their hand away.

God doesn't want his people to have to live like this! We are supposed to be happy and joyful.

Be careful with statements like this, an acute witness looking for a convert would beg to differ, and he could show you a slew of scripture to back it up. (As I am sure you already know). To them, it's not a matter of being happy now, but of being happy later. and later... and later... and later...

Smartgirlpw, if you are referring to me, then please don't let my actions spoil you from visiting this board. These are kind and caring people. Not everyone is as cold and monstrous as I am. The only reason I've asked you any questions at all are because I care about you as a person, and don't want to see you become another robot. I know it doesn't seem that way.

I won't apologize for smacking you in the face with reality, but I will be sad that you left. I did like your spunk.

99%+ of the Witnesses I knew, and from what I can tell most Witnesses, did not make any changes whatsoever in their lives because of the 1975 stuff.

Looks like most of the witnesses you knew did not consider the WT publications as "meat in due season", now did they?

Yes, some sold their houses to pioneer, some passed on medical treatment, and indeed some did run up debt on the assumption they wouldn't have to pay for it, but, the vast majority did not do those things.

If this is true, then why did the witnesses suffer a DECLINE in this period? Didn't they lose quite a number of people? (Anyone have that percentage?)

Also Xandit, if "1975" could have been a way to "weed out" the unfaithful, as another has contended, I will then ask you to show me where the WT can biblically print something to remove followers with a lack of faith in "God's channel" by having only those certain people pay attention to what they print!? Please tell me biblicly where they are permitted to "speak in parables" as Jesus did? On what authority? On God's? Very presumptious, don't you think?

The people that really jumped on the 1975 business desperately wanted it to happen then for all kinds of reasons, a lot of them were "escaping." They were not wise or judicious, but no one forced them to do what they did.

Amen, as is the whole guise of a witness, they want an end to this "system of things". And of COURSE nobody forced them to do what they did. They took the divine encouragement as it came as "meat in due season" from the faithful and discrete slave. Do you consider this an unwise prosepect, to listen to their words? Or should you "take it with a grain of salt?"

The nut cases, as you put it have MENTAL PROBLEMS and CHEMICLE IMBALANCES that are responsible for their skewed thinking. They were either BORN with or developed the problem.

No matter what a tobacco industry exec would like you to think, it IS an addictive drug. Once you start, your hooked, and it's VERY hard to stop. FACT! Should someone start smoking in the first place? No. But then again, most smokers don't understand that it will EVENTUALLY KILL THEM.

I get so sick of this lack of personal responsibility, everything is always someone else's fault. It makes me gag. I think I'll go down to McDonalds and see if I can't spill some hot coffee in my lap.

Looks like I have met my match.

I have read your post and I have thought the same things for awhile now, but have never put them to words.

I too have wondered why a loving God would allow a serpent to interfere with paradise. Would that not mean that by definition, paradise is lost, before it is ever found?

I have heard the explanations of satan doing his mischief in heaven beforehand, and don't buy it. It always leaves me wondering why this same God who is willing to destroy so many at armageddon would have been so unwilling to totally destroy the dragon before he ever caused any problem with Eve in the first place.

Hey amicus.

Thank you for giving your commentary. So often I hear all of these stories written down as accounts on various webpages, but it's good to "hear" someone ectually tell it like it is.

I had a friend who I deeply cared about who was just so convinced that all of these stories were just lies. What can you say to someone when they have a friend who is an elder who went to bethel and says none of these things EVER HAPPENED. Are people in denial, or what?
