have any of you had the experience of a bethelite brother visiting your kh?.
here's how it always seemed to go in my experience:.
there is a general kh-wide excitement in the air that a real, live bethelite rockstar is at the hall; overheard are numerous convo's featuring words like "o, he's a bethelite".. visiting brother bethelite gives the closing prayer and is immediately mobbed by adoring fans.. all the single sisters are on high alert, you can smell the estrogen in the air.
I've had those experiences. I couldn't agree more about what is being said.
I always thought that the friends acted like the apostles were visiting our congregation or something from the way they acted.
Everyone wanted to talk to them and hear their experiences and have them over for dinner.
Heck Bethelites got even more play and attention then COs did.
most ex-jw's df/da that i know end up living a dangerous life.
some get into drugs, prostitution, gangsterism,etc.
as a result they prove the jw theory that says "whoever leaves jehovah's organisation won't make it" right.. it's difficult for me to say this, but it seems like jw's are partly right on this one.. why do most ex-dubs end up in a predicament of some sort?
It does seem that alot of DF'ed ones get into a little trouble or become a little more radical, but i wouldn't say all or majority. I know of some who do just fine or really well and some who do really bad. I think it depends alot on the age. The older you are when you leave the less likely you are to get in trouble. But because some young ones leave they do things they never would have done if they had a different upbringing. The ones i know always grow out beards, tatoos and peircings and also drinking and partying. Maybe because they couldn't do it before but as far as adults go i think they just get on with their lives when they are disfellowshipped.
i just learned there was a service meeting part last week on how to treat df ones.
the person i heard this from said it was very hard on many in her congo.
did anyone attend that meeting or has there been discussion here?
Well the first week was about some other things too but it led into talking about Disfellowshipping and why it happens...You could the disfellowshipped ones turn red and get uncomfortable. The second week was strictly on the topic and how to treat them, needless to say not a disfellowshipped person in sight. I wonder if they'll return?

Not too long ago I was just browsing the net for information about bethel and i stumbled on new boy's bethel experience and I was curious and only read it because it was soo hilarious and I couldn't get enough. I told myself I would just pay attention to the entertainment aspect of the story and not so much the distrust and apostasy toward the org. And i started lurking looking at interesting stories and made an account just to be able to read things in the private section. Of coarse now I have more doubts about things i've been taught and am more cynical. I guess i'm at a cross road but its cool cuz my eyes have been open a lil, thanks new boy...
did you get married or stay single because you were a jehovah's witness?.
I think being a JW puts a lot of pressure on whether one will get married or not. For guys and girls it can go either way depending on their spiritual goals. Average JW guys look forward to marriage because its the only way they can have sex and not get in trouble. The zealous JW guys though do not even think about marriage because they know if they married to young that they will miss out on spiritual oppurtunities like bethel and MTS. They're are a few spiritual girls that wait to get married because somehow they think there is more they can do before they get married, which there really isn't, not in this Org anyway or they spend their entire youth looking for the perfect bro: spiritual, handsome and not crazy, of coarse these are rare and when you do meet them what are the odds he'll want to get married. So these sisters grow up and get old and lonely because by now they aren't as attractive and all the available men aren't siritual enough. Then the not so spiritual sisters get married just to escape their elder father's tyrannical rule but sometimes just get into another one.
Moral of the story... your messed up either way...

that's what happened to me during this week's bs about how to "treat the disfellowshipped"?.
i just picked up my bag and stormed out...... will i get called into the back room?.
No one walked out at my meeting during the last bookstudy. All the DFed people simply didn't come that night because they didn't want to be uncomfortable during the whole thing, but I'm sure they'll be back next week. I would let them know I missed them last meeting but you know how that goes...

I agree with you leavingwt, I have alot of empathy for those still completely controlled by the Org and do not know it and those who are studying and coming in. I still go and everything but I'm skeptical and am not completely controlled. But I see new ones coming in and they aren't the wiser about what's really going on, they take everything in and believe it.
Personally I don't think there is a lot of information intentionally withheld from studies, just they always get baptized before they learn a lot of stuff that comes with being a jw for a while. If your born into it you know all the unwritten or common sense rules that are not necessarily found in the publications. But eventually the Noobs learn but sadly when its too late...

the weekend with it's endless ministry and drawn out meeting was over.
monday was the day i got to be a normal kid; school, homework and collapse in front of the tv.
I think it all depends on the times you had your meetings. If you had meeting early sunday morning it wouldn't be so bad because at least you had it out the way and the rest of the day ahead of you. You could do something fun and then have school on monday, and i didn't have my meetings until tuesday so mondays weren't so bad. If you had evening meetings on Sunday it is the worst thing EVER!!!! You cannot do anything because you have the meeting at night and all day you are dreading the time when the meeting will come. And then afterwards you have to go home just to do your homework and wake up early for school. Wednesdays were good because no meeting and the week was almost over. Thursdays sucked because not only did you have to go to the meeting but the bookstudy you were in didnt have any of your friends in it so it was a waste. Fridays were a day to relax until the weekend of activity, whether it would be theocratic or recreational.

Thank You, now I know what I can look forward too this year...NOT! This is going to be torture I can already tell, why do they have so many symposiums and have to make them so long? I can already tell this is going to be torture, I guess I'll just listen for new crackpot ideas they come up with like how the bad economy is a sign that we should devote our time and money to the Org.
we've been down this road before: the watchtower makes some pious comment about helping others and then, having covered its collective a$$, goes right back to the same, fake, cultish ministry.
(in regard to today's wt study).. like the pharisees, they say but do not perform.
however, i did notice that today's study article referred to "numerous" witnesses being known for being kind ( as opposed to the usual bilge about how they all are so loving).
You know I didn't notice before that the stats were no longer being included in the KM, I guess that was there intention with the new fancy KM that tells you exactly what you need to study all in one place. What do you mean meeting reduction? I think they are planning from sort of change perhaps little by little, they've already ended the bookstudy then they change PO to "Coordinator" I wonder why?
Question: Is there any place where they report the number who partake at the memorial? I thought it was in the yearly stats included in the watchtower for each country but I do not think I saw it there. Because knowing how many "anointed" are left is important in determining if we are any closer in these "last days."
I don't think they will dump the Field Service report because that is how they keep track and categorized individuals but they did stop making it necessary to feel out a Bible study slip for each bible study, i think so more people would be inclined to raise the amount of "bible studies" they are conducting.
Because if young people go to college then they will not recruit more JWs as if they would have entered full time service. But eventually after serving full time for a while the JWs get tired and get more training or education and then jobs and continue to be a witness and use their extra money to donate.
