Thank you, Joseph. What does NT mean? I take it you are a Christian but no longer a jw? I guess I was wondering: could jw's use that as a reasoning as to why its okay to flip flop & make mistakes? ...because true christians of the bible did also?

did "true christians" make mistakes in the bible?
by homeschool inan elder met with my husband a few nights ago.
i was working but my hubby recorded the whole thing.
one thing that is totally stuck in my brain is talk about the "new light" and how things get brighter and can be clarified easier.

an elder met with my husband a few nights ago. i was working but my hubby recorded the whole thing. One thing that is totally stuck in my brain is talk about the "new light" and how things get brighter and can be clarified easier. What the .....??? I'm under the impression that the "true" religion should definitely grow, but shouldnt be making so many flip-flopped statements or mistakes.
I've read threads regarding the fact that the "light getting brighter" doesnt have anything to do with what the jw's say it means. Did "true christians" of bible times make big mistakes that were corrected? I am now agnostic and question whether the bible is acutally even true, hence the quotations marks around "true christians"...

Why do so many Xjw's not end up in some sort of trouble?
by AK - Jeff inmy observation has been the opposite of agb's in this regard.
i have known of precisely 0 who have turned to gangs/drugs/prostitution after abandonning the lies known as jehovah's witnesses.
most seem to lead lives of quiet hope outside the mainstream religious community once they leave - but far from dangerous lives [even from the jw perspective].. just thought counter-point might be fairplay here.. do xjw's live like jw's?

Not gonna lie...my family was VERY into the jw's and when I left I got into drugs. Moved from a lil honky dorey town in the east and went to L.A....got into cocaine pretty bad. I thank whomever's taking care of me every single day. I am now a successful business owner in the holistic field. Its not all peas and carrots....but i'M still happy where I've ended up

Bethel Speaker Calls GB "Ants" regarding generation teaching
by dismayed inthis video on youtube is pretty interesting.
the part i'm referring to is right at minute 9, where he calls out the "ants printing the watchtower" and says they never should have been dealing with generation.
so why do they keep talking about it?.

i just watched this and chuckled at the pictures and words showing throughout. But I think it was out of pure nervous energy because I noticed that I was clutching the sides of my armchair because a familiar anxious, disgusted, embarrassed feeling that was inside of me. I totally remember talks being given like this and it makes me sick (and want to cry) as to how I laughed along with the speaker when they spoke of "wicked" people dying horrific deaths. WICKED people, the gays and children and anybody else who wasnt interested in listening to a 5 minute speech from an unprepared publisher out in the ministry. I'm speechless. Thank you to the person who put this thread up

Thank you Coffee..... And thanks to everyone's comments! I left 12 years ago because it didn't feel right to be acting the way they made me act. Now, I have literal proof in writing as well. I'm glad I found this site

This was about 13 years ago, so I think the whole concept of the morning after pill was new and unknown. The elder was in his late 60's at that point and convinced my parents to not let her have it. Grrrrrrrr, thank goodness she didnt get pregnant. yes, she was reprooved because she was staying at another girls house and they snuck out to meet non-jw boys (who were 18 at the time. And no, they were not charged). the boys gave them rufies, but explained it was just a pill to make them not so anxious about sneaking out. So technically, she DID sneak out. But....SHE WAS THIRTEEN. didnt we all do silly stuff like that?
