Mwuahahah!
any of you who believe in satan or demons, have you had experiences with them?.
have you ever seen satan?.

he was a martyr.
he had wonderful moral teaching [if we can attribute it to him honestly].
he drew a crowd.. could have said any of that about ghandi.
I personally think the Pastafarian's will be the dominant religious movement in 2,000 years. They currently have a small movement at the moment (about 2 followers I think). They basically worship the Spaghetti Monster and all his wonderous works.
can this approach help some win cases against them and make the wt more vulnerable to law suits?
from poor treatment at bethel to mega bucks in wrongful death as in no blood transfusions and the list can go on and on,,but what if this approach could knock some wind out of the wt sails..
If this were to happen in my lifetime, I'd die a happy man.
i was doing some light reading today and saw the word "abstain" within a dictionary.
this was the definition of the word abstain;.

Cheers TD, your comment was spot on.

I think only GapingMouth has fully understood what it is I am implying.
I know all about JW's and blood/blood fractions and the like, I was one for 30 years unfortunately. What I am saying is that the word in the Greek Testament "Abstain", means "Choice". Even the Greek text, which GapingMouth so graciously explained, means "Choice".
Therefore, we are asked to make a choice, a decision if you will, on whether or not to take blood. So, why does the WBTS disfellowship those that have blood transufusions? After all, if we abstain from blood, then we are making the choice to either have a transfusion or not.

1. To refrain from something by one's own choice
2. To refrain from voting
That's very interesting. Growing up as a Jehovah's Witness, I remember countless talks given by elders, ministerial servants that discussed the word "abstain" and "abstaining". I distinctly remember the information given about the word abstain and it clearly wasn't the same definition as given in the above dictionary.
"Abstain means that you must run away from", "get as far away from as possible", "have nothing to do with". Those are just a few of the phrases that I remember.
If abstain means that we have a choice in the matter of having/not having a blood transfusion, why are the WBTS so dead set against it? And secondly, can you post your comments on what you remember being told what the word abstain meant?
Before I go, I would also like to add that the phrase "we command you to" or "you must" abstain from blood, doesn't make any sense whatsoever, for if you are commanded to make a choice, then it stops being a choice and evolves into a task. If "task" was what the bible writer meant, why didn't he use it? Do you agree with this line of thought?
Kind regards

did you notice any young jw sisters in the past that did rush to get married too young and to have a baby right away before the end comes?
did you hear any stories of regret?
i was wondering if the watchtower is to blame for?.
I know this brother (who's not been to the meetings in ages) who was married only for sex. He got divorced after his wife was caught sleeping around. He got married within a year of being divorced, again for sex.
His life is a misery.
I do blame the WBT$ partly, but I also blame him for not leaving this cult when he realised it was one (he told me so). The pressure was just too much for him in the end and he got married again.
**************************
I have known friends that got married when they were in their late twenties and thirties, but got divorced within months due to not enjoying their sex life with their partner.
Sex is part of life, so the joker that only allowed it whilst married should be shot. When going out with the opposite sex (or same sex if that's your preference), sex is a major part of the relationship that you hope to build.
Only being able to experience sex, a major part of your relationship, after you've said your vows is just wrong.
Put it this way, if we were created by a being (still can't believe people actually believe that btw), why did he/she/it give us sexual urges during our pubescent years, only to command us to try and control these urges until we get married? Oh sorry, I forgot, he/she/it likes testing us. Sounds as though god is some kind of dominatrix.
That's my two cents.

jews for thousands of years have believed in their "one god" so i always wondered if in jesus time this was the view, how and when did the trinity start?
did jesus start it off?
are you saying jews were trinitarian?
Did you ever go to the British Museum? You'll see from the certain artefacts that trinity was a pagan teaching. The Egyptian's also believed in tri-gods.
The trinity and the teaching's of Jesus Christ stem from pagan beliefs.

is it just me, but when i read my bible (nwt) i found whole pages of pauls writing that i didn't understand and couldn't make head nor tail of.
i also noticed that the borg tended to only quote certain scriptures that they thought they could make sense of pauls writings, and these were quoted over and over again.
but surely the whole bible is supposed to be inspired and benifical ... bla bla bla etc?.
Didn't Paul say that we should stone men that had long hair?
I'm off to kill Kenny G, Slash and Michael Bay (he doesn't have long hair; but his movies suck and he needs to disappear).

my wife and i had a "bible study" with an elder and his wife yesterday (9-11-09) and the topic was marraige.
the book we covered was "keeping yourself in god's love.
" this particular "bible study" was based primarily on the topic we covered in the book and, of course, there was a lot of "hop scotching" of the bible.
Gary, in relation to your not understanding the 144,000 section, please review Revelation 14:4 as it also tells us that the 144,000 are Firstfruits and virgins who have not "defiled" themselves with women.
JW's take the 144,000 section as not being symbolic, but the fact that the 144,000 have to be men and Jewish is symbolic.
Can someone explain to me and Gary how the WTB$ explain this? Why is only part of that scripture not symbolic??
