I like the idea that you get your own planet :) If I make a religion that you get your entire solar system how many will join? So sad that there is so many suckers that believe the stupidity. So sad that we believed this BS that we would inherit earth with the fools that led us. I hope that one day governments have enough courage to ban cults that suppress self advancement.

More Young People Are Leaving The Organization!

both girls were elder's daughters.
they aren't elders now because they were somewhat problem teens.

I think it's important that the people leaving the cult know the truth about the cult and stop believing in it. Many who are df or "leave" still believe in the wts teaching which puts guilt and fear in their daily lives. Many non attending believers may return to the cult if the things get bad and then we'll read another Andre story in the watchtower how so and so left the borg for evil world only to return to the spiritual paradise. Also, many of those who have left the cult still attend the memorial each year as if that will save them which makes the memorial attendance number look like there are so many interested ones in the field.

Will only "incorrigibly wicked" people be destroyed at Armageddon?
by poor places inin a recent talk that i heard, a brother tried to comfort those whose family members have left jehovah's witnesses.
he did so by saying that only "incorrigibly wicked" people will be destroyed at armageddon.
i found his line of reasoning refreshing, especially in comparison with the usual fear-mongering in wt publications.

Christ’s coming as Judge to separate people
of “all the nations” into two categories:

Lord Jesus.” (2 Thess. 1:7, 8) The sheep, described
as “righteous ones,” will receive
“everlasting life” on earth, but the goats
“will depart into everlasting cutting-off,” or
destruction.—This is very clear. While the elder may downplay their teaching just as they do at the door not to upset the listener, the fact is wts teaches that only ACTIVE supporters of GB will make it - since we know only GB for sure are anointed while other anointed may be mentally unstable partakers.

Confused...

hiya and... i do not really know where to begin... currently a jw... slightly starting to fade... got a girlfriend baptised... i am baptised also... my head is a mess... i do not know what to believe anymore... never really fully trusted elders as it comes to 'leading the flock'... got burned a few times with their ... decisions etc.
read a few articles in here about their alleged false beliefs... do not really know what to do... wondered if any of you felt like that at any point... when something that you trusted and followed most of your life... does not seem to be what you thought it was... .

It it understandable to think that satan is testing you. If you check watchtower publications as to what they said or how today they misrepresent their own old publications and teachings you aren't even going outside of watchtower realm. You cannot be tempted by their own words unless they were speaking for satan in their older publications.
You have natural feelings that many of us had while under influence of mind control. When you grow up believing only one set of "truths" it's hard to accept that you've been deceived all these years.
Examine the last articles in the watchtower (oct & Nov public edition) on the fall of Jerusalem in 607BC to the sources they quote. You will see how watchtower takes quotes out of context and how they ignore the surrounding text to present the idea that bible really supports 607BC. This is only the latest misinformation found from the "faithful and discreet slave" class. A good pdf discussing the Oct article is here.
But the more research you do, the more disappointed you'll be in the wts. This 130 year old religion has more skeletons in their closet than catholic church in the same time period!
They taught and preached Jesus return in 1874 for over 50 years
They taught that the pyramid of Giza was God's witness in stone
They taught that resurrection to heaven occurred in 1878 and then 1918
They taught that 1925 was more scripturally based than 1914
they taught the King David and other faithfuls would be resurrected to earth in 1925 and they build them a mansion in San Diego in 1929 which was called Beth Sarim! Rutherford lived there "waiting" for these ancients!!
They taught and strongly implied that 1975 would be the end of the system
They still teach that Jesus isn't you mediator but only of the anointed.
Those are just a few crazy teaching and then there are numerous scandals throughout the 130 years that I didn't even touch on. Knowledge is your friend, the more you learn the better you are off. Whatever choices you make at the end of the day, are the choices you'll live with. Good luck

How did plants survive the Flood?

supposedly the flood was severe enough to cover "even the tallest mountains", which would mean that mount everest was covered.
and this for forty days.

What really ended the book study in private homes?
by Alfred init's been over 3 years since the book study in private homes was discontinued and some jws are still scratching their heads over it.
although a letter was read to all congregations explaining that "book study night" would now be "family worship night", there was still much speculation among jws as to the real reason behind this decision (the great tribulation was about to start, jehovah was simplifying the lives of jws, to lessen the burden of poor jws who had no money for gas, etc.)...
but as we all know, decisions like these from the gb invariably have some ulterior motive behind it... and discussion boards such as this one usually finds a way to dig up the truth for all to see... but after reading several threads on this subject, i'm really not sure we've uncovered all the facts yet.... so i have to ask... what do you believe really ended the book study in private homes?

I also think that it was due to money. Pedo problem may have contributed to it but I think the money was the bigger issue for them. The meetings are suffering. If you don't attend you feel less guilty for not contributing to the money box but if they eliminate one meeting which has no financial benefit to the wts then maybe they assumed bigger attendence at the two(4) meetings which would make dubs contribute more. If you go to all the meetings it's easier to feel guilty you're not paying your share of the expenses.
But as a business I'm sure they had several points that they used to support their idea of eliminating the BS.
So now, KH have be viewed like Noah's Ark, if GT arrives you won't know when Big A is comming from your BS conductor, you will have to get your ass to the KH and maybe throw more money into the life saving vessel.

WTS has changed few things from magazine to bound volumes throughout the years. After 1975 fiasco, they were more careful about pointing to a specific date. I remember 2 articles in the magazines that they've changed this in, from saying that the end would happen before year 2000 to in our time or something like that. There also was one magazine that I know of that they changed the front cover because they used a copyrighted photo without paying for it or giving credit - wt, sep 15 1982.
If you want to compare actual magazines to bound volumes ask someone in your congregation as older ones save studied magzines in binders and I'm sure they will be happy to lend them out unless you are DF/DA.
