windows 7 is nice but I haven't tried it out enough but thus far I like it. I HATED vista and stayed with the xp but 7 does look promissing and visually does look like vista. If you're running vista I don't know why you wouldn't upgrade or downgrade to xp as vista is crap IMO.

Child Molestation and the Two Witness Rule
by garyneal inthis morning, as i was fixing breakfast, my wife and i got on the subject of religion (again) and i apologized to her for some of the things i said yesterday regarding the jehovah's witnesses.. in short, i said that given the way she treated me in regards to keeping me in the dark about certain financial situations, overdrawing her checking account and running up $500 in credit card debt due to her overdrafts that i am surprised the elder and his wife would approve of her activities in light of their teachings.
i said, "when you go to their house and study that book 'keeping yourself in god's love' with them, ask them what they would think of you taking such a nonchalant attitude over how you are managing the household finances and the way you respond to me when i inquire about the situation.
telling me that 'i should not worry' and that 'i am being fed and have a roof over my head' in such a way that i should just be quiet about it and let you be in charge.

garyneal:
Proclaimers book is typical whitewashed history of the wts - you can check out freeminds (http://www.freeminds.org/doctrine/publications/whitewashing-watchtower-history-the-proclaimers-book-revealed.html) Use only wts or court documents to show her history of wts. If you want any of the old ebooks I can get you links for most of the old stuff. If she can read Thy Kingdom Come book it will show a lot about what Russell really taught about 1874, 1799 and 1914 and the pyramid and so forth. That was his third book in the study in the scriptures and it helped me open my eyes to this religion. Since she was raised a jw but not baptised she probably won't look at any material other than wts so that's what you should use to show her. As I was doing my research I asked myself "When did God start directing wts as his organization?" and since Russell taught all the dates that are not used today it's obvious he wasn't guided or how could he be - would God guide him to teach false dates? Rutherford, the second president likewise taught same dates as Russell in the early years only to change everything to 1914 in the 1930s, in fact 1914 hasn't officially evolved into what it is today until 1943 in the salvation book is I remember correctly. Rutherford taught 1925 and encouraged reading Women and Angels, demon inspired book - was God guiding the organization through Rutherford? Doesn't make sense. Anyways hope some of these ideas will help you.
ps: here is wts link that they settles pedophile lawsuits

If she's still unbaptized try to get her to reason on doctrine's history and evolution. Where is disfellowshipping taught in the bible in the same way wts teaches it's flock? The elder you mention may not be an exception as there are many many "nice" people in congregations but he may be extra nice because she is new or because extra friendliness is shown so maybe you can take interest. There are many genuine nice people in the congregations but most witnesses don't know their own history and many are so dependand on the governing body that they will not dare question them as that would show disloyalty to the organization and in their minds would mean being disloyal to "Jehovah."
If an individual can seperate the leaders from being divinely guided by God and see that they are just men, the individual may more likely reason as to why teachings have changed and why certain rules are applied and why these things are dangerous to the individual witnesses and why wts is wrong to join. You point out that since your wife is leaving whatever church she attended her friends will not shun her nor will her family stop talking to her but if she were to leave wts after being baptized she would be shunned by jw friends and family members may or may not talk to her. Yes, there are family members who still talk to their df or da family members but some don't. JW "friends" typically totally shun non family df or da members.
The reason I bring up doctrine is that if she's went to her church before and is planning on switching what is she gaining by accepting new but different lies? Basic wts lies are 607BC for Jerusalem's fall which they use to establish 1914 date as Christ return but only after teaching 1874 as Jesus return for almost 50 years! If state of Israel believes 607bc is not the date but 586/587bc for the fall what are the chances that uneducated people in Brooklyn with no archeological evidence can point to a different date. If wts has false teachings why exchange one man run religion for another man run religion?

Love the city in every way. Not too big, friendly, summers are hot and dry and winters are mild with enough snow to enjoy winter sports. IMO best place in Canada to live.

What if those df'd......could they?
by angel eyes ini've recently seen that some teaching have changed.
so my question is, if someone was df'd for instance for divorcing there partner for having gay relations and this was years ago when there wasnt grounds for it, so they were df'd, if now because the understanding has changed, could they appeal and be reinstated with a public apology?.

Russell was selling a lot of ideas which were wrong and I will give him credit that maybe just maybe he believed his own crap until the day he died but he was not as honest as bs or jws potray him. Miracle wheat published in a magazine that was preaching an end of the world and God's blessing...hmmm sounds like typical deception just as wts does today. How many of his followers bought into this miracle wheat thinking that the end is near and maybe Russell knew this wheat would fill the earth mountain tops? "A sucker is born every minute" so they say. Just as today how many wts followers go and try to get their donations back? And if some did would you hear about it? Likewise with Russell, just because he said something doesn't make it true that he would return all the money to unhappy customers. Besides who sued who? Wasn't Russell suing the eagle for libel and wasn't it Russell who lost in actual court not some kangaroo court run by jws over their own people? Eagle revealed dirt on Russell and even not all may have been without distortion, Russell didn't come out looking innocent by any means. Same with his business with Logan, Land and Whitehouse (russell vs russell) denial only to be proven a lier in court. I don't believe that Russell didn't benefit from miracle wheat as it's obvious he was a busnessman and he surely didn't look like he missed an oppertunity which would benefit watch tower Russell.
Bible students like jws still back their fraudulent leader(s) as if he/they didn't do anything wrong. R

Deep thoughts: conditional love
by greenie inso, i know people talk a lot on here about how love is conditional for jws (ex.
as soon as you're not one, you've often lost jw family and friends).
in my own situation, many of you have counseled me to get out of my relationship (for those that don't know, i'm not a jw, my partner is).

I don't remember if you said your partner is a jw or was raised a jw and is trying to get back in which puts him in a bit of a different category than jw since he would not be your partner at present - unless you're married and that's what you mean by partner. If you're not married and are living together for him to get re-instated he needs to either marry you or break up with you. If you were never a jw and lets say you get married, most jws won't view you as they view ex members and many may show extra affection towards you for you to take interest in wts religion. Your then husband may not change nor is it necessary that he will be something that he is not at present but people change in wts religion and out so if you stay with him you have same chances for a happy marriage as anyone else all depending on your partner. Now, if you make yourself known to other jws as knowing wts BS history and their false teachings you will be viewed as an opposer and they won't invite you guys for get-togethers and social activities which will put your partner in an akward place. It may be better to tell your partner now what you know about wts than get married and deal with it some time later. Conditional love is usually shown within their ranks to one another as a general rule, you're not being a jw will be detroyed according to wts teachings thus they won't shun you obviously but may even argue with you about what you say about wts which they wouldn't ever do with most of us exjw. So it is complicated as you have to real think about what your life may be if he becomes a jw and wants to continue as one acceptable to wts.
Most relationships are conditional to some point but when we talk about jws having conditional love or being conditional friends it is different in that jws have to give their alledgence to their leaders and anyone questioning the leaders will become an outcast.

Russian JWs in Serious Trouble - about to be banned
by Dogpatch inalthough it has been leading up to this for a long time, it appears russia has made up their mind to get rid of "extremist" groups by banning them, and jws are pretty much at the top of the list.
the last few years under putin they have been giving them heaps of trouble.. .
i am not for bans as it usually backfires, but under the "new" admnistration it looks like hard-core responses are in order.

dissed - problem is that they released Rutherford instead of keeping him in prison for a long long time :(

Ban doesn't work but education does. Problem with educating people is that how do you go about warning people of dangers of cults? It's not that Russian Orthodox church is any better but at this point their flock can still have their opinions about the leaders or they can question some of the teachings.
This will make Russian jws think of gog of magog surrounding them and that the end is getting so much closer and that they will have to work harder at getting people saved :) Bans encourage cults to grow especially cults like wts who don't appear to be dangerous and who act quite normal until they are examined carefully. Why couldn't they have banned wts in US in the 1918 and with locked up Rutherford the world would have been better off and the cult long forgotten.

real fake friends
by diamondiiz ini wondered how did your "best" jw friends react to when you told them you're leaving wts?.
after i found out all i needed to know i called up my old friend who i thought was a good friend but i knew he was a die hard dub and i told him to write down a book and read it.
i was refering to russell's thy kingdom come.

It seems that we all lost someone but really we gain freedom to associate with whomever we wish and with those who won't shun us if we don't agree with their views. It's amazing to look back and realize that we have been conned by those whom we trusted and the conditional love has nothing to do with worshipping same God or being a follower of Christ but has everything to do with being obedient to a group of men. And they say they're not a cult

I wondered how did your "best" jw friends react to when you told them you're leaving wts?
After I found out all I needed to know I called up my old friend who I thought was a good friend but I knew he was a die hard dub and I told him to write down a book and read it. I was refering to Russell's thy Kingdom Come. From there I told him that I'm about to disassociate myself and that's when there was a silence for a moment and I was told that satan got hold of me :) I told him that I am basically looking who my real friends are since I don't need fake friends. Well I was told that I have become an apostate and he couldn't talk to me and we've ended on that. The next day he called and asked me not to hang up and chatted with me for a good hour or so while his wife was away. I basically told him most of the stuff about wts from the pyramid to the pedophile law suits and basically told him I can provide him with all these facts from either legal documents or wts publications and even though he didn't know any of these things which I also pointed out that he didn't know any of these things until I told him even though he was raised a jw and yet he is willing to choose advise of strangers to avoid those leaving the cult his final question was if I believed that gb was faithful and discreet slave to which I obviously replied "no." At this his reply was that we don't have anything in common any more and because we don't have nothing in common we won't speak again to which I said "that's fine I just wanted to know who my real friends are" and that was the end of that. btw when we hang out in the past, wts talk was very uncommon. As far as I'm concerned he was never a true friend and obviously I've wasted my time with such people, in fact it was because of him that I began studying and became in contact with this cult. But he wasn't a typical by the book jw, he did whole bunch of shit while younger and still after he got baptized, he still did bizzar stuff - road rage was just one of them.
Anyways, I thought of sharing this one with you guys and wondered how your experiences went with your so called best jw friends just before or right after you DA yourself.
