Faithful and Discreet Slave

i'm sure that this has been discussed before, but bear with me while i share my little insight.. the scripture about the fds is found in jesus description of the last days in matthew 24. not in mark 13, nor luke 21. those other writers didn't consider it important enough to include it in their writings.

it is the only mention, as far as i know, of any such "arrangement," yet on face value, if you are just reading the bible, it seems more like one of jesus' thought-provoking rhetorical questions, rather than a part of the sign of the last days.

no "two or three witnesses," yet this one scripture has become a rallying cry for a whole religion, consisting of millions of adherents!.

That's how wts operates, they transform themselves into an angel of light appearing to be so holy and only deeper research reveals their true self. If anything they are the true apostate religion and 2Th 2:3 applies to them.

Let no one seduce YOU in any manner, because it will not come unless the apostasy comes first and the man of lawlessness gets revealed, the son of destruction. 4 He is set in opposition and lifts himself up over everyone who is called “god” or an object of reverence, so that he sits down in the temple of The God, publicly showing himself to be a god.

A believer or not, one could apply this scripture to wts' gb and it would fit so well. How watchtower depicts gb is so disgusting! They claim that God and Christ both trust these leaders, they claim that others don't have mediator but only they - yes fds does but any other partakers are questioned as to their validity of being true annointed but for some reason no one can question the validity of gb! Anyone can call others by whatever name but you call gb member a deregatory name and you're from the devil :) FDS was only an illustration used by Christ which doesn't apply to some special group of people, and it DOESN"T APPLY TO GB!!!!

need lawyerly advice about DA

haven't been around for a while - nice to see so many still around, alive an' kickin'!

here's what's bothering me - i want to request the return of any records bearing my name at my former kh.

i want it to be like i was never even there, call me 'casper', lol.

This is what I've included in my DA letter:

"I request that you remove my name from Watch Tower and all it’s branches and any corporation known to governing body that may not be known to local elders for whatever reason they may collect this data or keep my name on file. I no longer want to have any association that may link me to the governing body or any of their corporations which they claim to be charitie$."

It's hard to know what data they keep, where and for what reasons. Will they erase your name from all their documents? Doubtful but you can request and hope they do get your name wiped out of their web of corporations and good luck in that. Legaly, I don't know what they can keep on file and what they are obligated to erase upon request.

ps: My view is that just as wts requests an individual to make a formal disassociation letter to a previous religious order before becoming a wts follower so in a same manner I would want to disassociate myself from wts.

Ron Paul would be assasinated before he could do any difference but I think it's too late for US to change it's course of direction at this point in time - unless US debtors would take pennies on a dollar to which I doubt would happen. As for Ray, IMO he would try to reform wts and give people more freedom of thought but would he shut it down? I doubt it.

i realize as an elder that i am speaking out against the very organization i try to faithfully represent, but i personally think that the governing body is wrong by teaching that only what they teach us, as printed in the watchtower publications, should be considered to be the truth.

theyve made the expression of any personal opinions or group debates over their official versions of biblical truths subject to disciplinary action often leading to someone being disfellowshipped.. .

that is why i feel that i must keep my own identity somewhat anonymous.

There are a couple things that this elder has it wrong, one of them is that thinks he is a witness of Jehovah. For one, I don't know when God asked him to be his witness? Just because wts choose to be someone's witness doesn't make it so other than by name alone - imaginary title. By believing that wts are actual witnesses for God this elders imagines that the organization is God's people here on earth and that by some miracle God or Christ will cleans wts to fix the wrongs. Ummm the wrongs haven't been corrected from the start and they keep growing, this elder should realize that wts is just another religion and has no backing by God's spirit any more than Catholic Church. As for watchtower followers trying to be serving God, true enough, but is he saying that many millions of other sincere religious people aren't trying to serve their god in a like manner? I mean most sincere worshippers try to do as they think is right and proper which doesn't make them any better or worse than wts followers. Now, as for some of us that may write in a style that isn't wts friendly, or somewhat hateful well maybe he should step forward and let his congregation know exactly what he believes and once his family and friends shun him, he can maybe educate us on how lovingly we should speak of the wts and be less hateful! Don't hide your true self and try to tell others not to be hateful when some have been hurt so badly by this fucking cult who detroyed their families and friendships because they claim they deserve total obediance of the masses. I haven't lost as much as many others but this elder has no clue how much some have been hurt and how many have felt when they were punished for knowing the truth about the troof, maybe he should step forward and be a man not some coward hiding in a shadow!

i did it 20 years ago, but the elders still remember what i did, sometimes i wish they never knew about it.

I've done it when I was young in the troof and only 19 at the time. Very humiliating and I wish I could go back just couple years before that and I wouldn't have to be here still pissed at wts. Either way I was never publicly reproved but lost the "privileges" of being a total slave for the Brooklyn scum.

My wife still takes my son to the meetings most of the time and she knows that he has no right to ever sit down in private with elders without me - the apostate! So I don't ever see that happen especially since he knows this is a fraud religion and only goes with my wife to somewhat make her happy :(

JC are pure crap, telling elders the details of what exactly happened and who touched who, where and when - WTF! Is that going to determine if one is to get DF or reproved? Totally inappropriate questions that have no merit!

... if she will prove me from the bible accuracy of 1914. and i stressed i really mean it.. we had one of the usual evening discussions and this was the result.. she said she is not ready for this and must do some preparation and aditional study (which is funny for somebody raised up in a hard-core jw family, baptized over 25 years, who spent over a decade in regular pioneering, reads wt for hours every week and have brought several people into jw cult...).

but ok, she pulled out several publications and is doing her preparation now and tonight we will have the discussion.. to motivate her i told her:.

1) if you will be succesfull i will go to preach to everybody in our street about 1914/607 during my pioneering.

My wife's excuse is that she learns so much at the meetings :) I ask her what new things does she learn and I get no response, but hey..whatever.. At least your wife has frank discussions with you, mine can't since she's avoiding it and I have a feeling she knows that I am right about the wts fraud but it's hard for her to leave the cult.

Since your wife likes the magz, didn't wts change the main purpose of the mags several times to get away from making it look like the generation of 1914 would see the end and some other miner changes over the years? Maybe that could be a good discussion over how wonderful the magz are with decieving the readers. How can she place magz that are deceptive in nature in hands of innocent people who may have no idea about corruption and lies by wts leaders? I think this may have made my wife stop going out in service a while back which is one reason that I believe that she's not buying the full wts BS but is doing her routine for some odd reason maybe to have her mother happy since she's the only one of the kids that still goes to the meetings.

Jehovah's Witnesses---A Cult or Not?

when i first got on this site, i would bristle at the thought that i ever belonged to a cult.. do you believe that witnesses are truly "cultists"?.

A Cult!

A cult isn't much different from a religion IMO but some minor aspects would categorize it as a cult. Most religions you may question your doctrine with family and friends and not be shunned. You can state your opinion openly and not be excomunicated, in cults you are not allowed such freedoms. Many may say that Muslims are fanatical, but wouldn't some fall under the cult banner? I would think so. Roman Catholic church at one time would kill heretics which would make it be a cult but now with much of it's grip lost on it's people it's just a religion.

I don't have a problem with anyone joinging whatever group they want as long as they have freedom to state their opinion freely or disagree with ideas that are presented as truth by the leaders to which rank and file can't disagree to and that to me is a cult. Watch Tower in many ways appears to be as any other religion with people quite nice and friendly on the outside, the teachings are not evil in nature for most part but the small destructive aspects of it make it a cult and whether innocently structured into a cult society or by Rutherford's power obsession it is a cult today and it's hard to argue against it.

about 2 mos ago...my parents decided that because i refused to continue my 'reinstatement' process and quit going to meetings - that they were now going to shun me after having regular contact for 10 mos!

i was upset, but accepted it.

although their method was harsh!

Babygirl30: Sorry to hear that your own family treats you this way. I'm one of those people that believes that if they shun you they're not worthy of you. Since you were DFed I'm guessing for conduct and they most likely view that you don't want to change your conduct and return. You may considering telling them you don't believe in 1914 and that it's all a lie that wts teaches, you don't have much to loose since you're being shunned anyways. Do it in a polite manner though, as it may open their eyes to the wts deception. If they can read Russell's books tell them to get one and read it( Irecommend Thy Kingdom Come) and let them think about what was being taught and how could Russell be led by spirit if he taught all the wierd dates that none came true. Try to show them that you're not coming to the meetings because you disagree with the things governing body forces everyone to believe even when there is tons of evidence proving that they are wrong. ex. If Israel with the most powerful spy agency in the world believes in 586/587BC as the year for destruction of Jerusalem what are the chances that uneducated men in Brooklyn can have a better proof for the fall of Jerusalem than Israel and all archeologists and historians in the world?

Hello. You describe your boyfriend as “lapse Jehovah’s Witness”. You haven't said if he was baptized or not. If he was baptized that would be a reason why he doesn't want to take you to the Kingdom Hall with him since he could end up with elders starting to question him as to his relationship with you. If he has been sleeping with you, this would mean he would have to either break off relationship with you or be disfellowshipped and since he's trying to get back in, it would be a big hussle for him to get disfellowshipped and return since he would still need to break any ties with you or marry you.

If he wasn't baprized I don't understand why he wouldn't take you with him since he has nothing to lose other than some gossip by others but that's nothing.

Either way, if he slowly drifted away from watch tower religion because it was too strict too follow, he obviously still believed that their teachings were all true and that this religion was and is the truth and that is why he may say that he's not worthy of being called Jehovah's Witness. That is his guilt conscience telling him that he is deserving death as per Watch Tower doctrine and this may be why he wants to return to the cult. Obviously people within a cult don't realize they are in one and neither does he nor did many of us here realize it.

It depends on his power of reason and is he honest to examine facts or is he just a nice person but not a deep thinker if you get my drift. Since you have very little knowledge about wts it may be hard for you to reason with him on doctrine so try to research one topic and stick with that topic until he at least sees that what you're saying is correct. The main dogma of wts is that Jesus returned in 1874 1914 :) Do some research and discuss it with him. He may not feel strong in the faith and that is why he may try to have you talk to someone else but don't worry the others won't know about wts' history and it's details because that's the who deception. Their only answer could be that what you bring up is old history or "old light" and doesn't apply today which is not logical if they were led by God's Spirit as they claim. Use ONLY wts publications to show what they taught, since many times they make it appear that in early student thought that Jesus returned in 1874 (I'll use Christ's return as example for your discussion). But it wasn't until 1943 that 1914 because "truth" of Christ's return. So they taught public for some 50 years that Jesus returned invisibly in 1874 and not 1914 and since they claim that Jesus appointed them in 1919 them teaching 1874 after that date doesn't make any sense. I always recomment reading Charles Russell's book Thy Kingdom Come on seeing what was originally taught by wts. Stick with one topic at a time so there is no way of skipping what is being discussed and letting him or any JW going on the offensive and trying to change topic to point out your religon's shortcomings.
