by purplesofa infriday night i went to our riverfest and saw the b-52's.
they put on a great show, energetic and entertaining.. i was surprised at the turnout.. i got invited an hour before we left to go, so it was a spontanious thing.. anyway, has anyone else seen them?
oh, and all this time i thought they were from europe and come to find out.

I will be going to see them at our riverbend festival in a couple of weeks. I expect it should be fun. Also Train, 3 dog night, commodores, Willie Nelson, and Little Richard (tho I think I'll skip that one) It's sad they have to resort to such menial venues but hey. Last year I saw America who I loved as a younger person....they were still great.

i could tell the wife was not happy the minute she came through the door.

I am wondering why my parents have made no mention of an assembly? It has been so long since I have been associated, but I always thought the assemblies were within weeks of each other. Any way if they have yet to get this pep talk I feel sorry for them when they do. If they come at me again with not being able to talk to me I may just have to write a letter to them explaining my position on things. And believe after having read for months on this site and provided links I would have a mouthfull. It would be so sad for them because they know if they need me I would be there.

My Parents unable to justify the current Blood Policy
by RubaDub ini was visiting my parents several months ago and the wt blood policy came up (someone in a nearby congregation was affected).
he is an elder and my mother has been a jw since a child.. anyway, i just commented that i expect changes soon in the blood policy.
they asked why.

always had doubts even of the existance of god let alone one that could and would be so vengefull towards.

Scarred for life...could you elaborate? I would be interested in your experiences and our common ground.
Another thing that has recently blown me away is the fact that organ transplants are okay. I fail to see the difference in blood transfusions and
organ transplants. Without either you are going to die. I found this out last year when my mother was about to die. She recovered in spite of not
having a blood transfusion (tho she was on procrit--a derivitive of blood I believe) and a couple from the hall came to visit her at which time my dad
informed me that she had a transplant. I asked what the difference was but didn't get an answer. All I can say if I was still in I would constantly be
stumbled by all these changes in what should have been accurate truths from the start. I mean why on earth if it was being directed by god would
he give out inaccurate information!

Well I have been watching and reading long enough. I have posted a couple of times but never told anything about myself so here goes.
I have been df'd for at least 30 years. Always had doubts even of the existance of god let alone one that could and would be so vengefull towards
the humans that he created. Hey if he didn't want them screwing up he shouldn't have given them free choice.
The stories I read on this board are heart breaking. I think I said this before but even though my parents sort of shunned me it was never to the
degree that so many others have endured. It kind of makes me wonder how serious my folks really are or if they are just smart enough to use their
own judgement with certain issues. Of their 3 children none of them will be in the new system with them.
Anyway 1975 was also a big issue for me as was being so embarrassed in school when adhereing to this religion. I really longed to be a part of it
all. High school dances games and whatnot. But mostly not celebrating the holidays....everyone on the outside always seemed so happy.
Well anyway my kids grew up outside the "truth" and all are productive, successful, educated people. Thank God!!!(if he exists)

My first post here. I have been df'd for 30 yrs and my parents have gone back and forth on the shunning stuff though it never seemed they went further than not saying anything spiritual around me. A few years ago they went gung ho with the shunning going so far to call me and explain their intentions. I shed some tears and told them (quite sincerely) that I understood and not to worry that I loved them and I would always be there for them. Needless to say they are getting up in age and their health is declining and indeed I have been there for them and will continue to do so.
I feel that they sincerely believe what they have been taught and I will always respect the decisions they make based on those beliefs. Just as I do any other persons personal beliefs.
