What I have learned about people working at the Driver's License office
by moshe ini have winter job working at the local bmv and it has been an eye opener.
i man the reception desk and direct people to the correct desk for help.. don't ever leave your purse in a car- it can get stolen (broken windows)- so take it with you or lock it in the trunk.. don't ever keep your social security card in your wallet or purse.
if it gets stolen, you are a prime candidate for identity theft.. over 25% of the people coming in to get identity cards , i see driving their car out of the parking lot.

My mom to my daughter: "BD party might be fun but it will make Jah sad"
by SweetBabyCheezits inwe've allow a little freedom for my jw mom to visit our daughter at lunch at the school since we're df'd now.
um, because we're idiots, maybe.
so my daughter tells me this evening that she was chatting with mom at lunch today and mentioned a birthday party she's attending this weekend.

Wasblind, I absolutely agree that it is everyone perogative to handle things the way they feel necessary. It is just my opinion that if you are open with your children that they can form their own opinions. You guide your children as they are growing not force things down their throat. You can explain in advance that so and so has a certain belief and this is how I feel. Then as I said give them the benefit of the doubt that they are capable of forming their own opinions. I also think that if Sweetcheeseits doesn't want their kids exposed to anything JW then he should explain that to his mother, not cut her off. My parents gave my kids all the kid JW books and even took them to meetings on occasion. They were also exposed to Budhism and my agnostic views. But in my humble opinion they were exposed to the love of their ENTIRE family and that is what has helped them to become the people they are today.

My kids continued to see their grandparents after I was df'd. I think it is terrible to stoop to JW's level and break family ties. Give your kids a little more credit for being able to use their heads. Let gramma relay her beliefs, just make sure you are relaying yours and let the kid make up her own mind when she is old enough. Too many people on this forum make things much more complicated than they have to be. I have always been one to kill them with kindness.

What are scriptures? .... Seriously
by wannabefree inthis has been going around in my head recently, after reading a post by aguest i believe, what are they?.
i mean this seriously.. those of you who are athiests, you are free to answer, but i do believe in god and in jesus, so one really should answer with the assumption that they are real, even if you don't believe that, please humor me and offer a logical thought based on that assumption.. 2 timothy 3:16,17 - probably every witness can quote that by heart and would probably assume it meant the bible ... but does it?.
the bible didn't exist at the time paul wrote his letters.

I personally have a hard time believing they were inspired. I think they were books of laws as needed at the time and stories of fantasy explaining what they couldn't themselves understand.

Mental torture
by stuckinamovement init is pretty interesting to see the mental, emotional and physical impact that people have when realize the teachings of the org are lies.
i am not going to name any names or point fingers but i can say i have tremendous empathy for those who are recently aware.. let me splane,.
now that i know about the lies that i have been taught and subsequently taught people myself, i have become like a lost person.

You know I hate to say this, but with exception of those who have been physically harmed by the organization, why can't you just except that it is just another religion? They spew crap just like the rest of them. so it's ok if you used to proclaim it as the truth, you used to believe it to be true so it's OK! Then again I guess I have to except those who are being shunned by their family, too. I am fortunate that my parents don't. As for the firends lost, bah hum bug....they weren't friends. Make new ones.

TSA encounter at SAN
by Yizuman in[these events took place roughly between 5:30 and 6:30 am, november 13th in terminal 2 of the san diego international airport.
i'm writing this approximately 2 1/2 hours after the events transpired, and they are correct to the best of my recollection.
having left the area, he stated, i would be subject to a civil suit and a $10,000 fine.

Suicide article from JW website
by moomanchu infrom the watchtower website:.
mary suffered from clinical depression as well as some other health problems.. however, she was not isolated from her family, nor did she abuse alcohol or drugs.
mary's case well illustrates the point that not all risk factors need to be present for a serious suicide attempt to take place.. .

by looloo inwalking back from town today we saw two old ladys and i said "good morning" my child said " are those ladys the ones in that religion that come and talk to you about something but i dont know what ?
" i said they were not but she started to ask about grandma again(jw grandma that has not visited for 18 months , her disfellowshipped dads mother .
) it was quite difficult to answer some of her questions and i told her daddy and i dont want to be in the religion because they dont let you see your family who leave the religion (amongst other reasons !
