I address you, those who are Jehovah's Witnesses, those of you who believe that Scripture should settle all matters. You are reading this, because you, like I was, are wondering if the claims about 607 BC are true or false. Else, you are reading this because you are an apologist, but I've yet to see an apologist that will calmly and rationally give a sound argument.

Let's be honest. If 607 BC is wrong, then 1914 is wrong, and so is the appointment of a Slave in 1918/1919 over all Christ's belongings. That is the crux of the matter. That is why 607 BC is so heavily defending. That is why you are reading this.

Both 607 and 1914 are true, because they are in calendar / but they do not count at all in any teaching related with the Kingdom of God nor with its "coming" on earth .

A few years ago I wrote a short article where I proved with Jesus words when the Kingdom has started in Heavens

Fascinating 1914 exchange between CT Russell and a colporteur

i'm just doing some research for my book, and i uncovered a real gem from the watch tower of july 1st 1914 - published three months before the "gentile times" were due to end climaxing (as they thought back then) in armageddon.. a rather brave "colporteur" (pioneer) wrote in to the magazine asking whether the studies in the scriptures series of books advocating 1914 to be the end of the world should cease to be circulated after october.

not only does the question itself prove that the expectations of publishers back then were entirely contrary to what the society repeatedly implies them to be, but the answer given by russell shows the same arrogance and evasiveness that we see in modern literature from the society, showing how little has changed since those days.. here is the clipping.... .

notice how russell falls back on the same line of argumentation used by the society, namely "we have not attempted to say these views are infallible.".

An Accurate Prophecy by the J-Dubs!

as i was walking to the station today i passed three people handing out watchtower tracts at the precise moment that one of them happened to turn to the other and say, "it's going to rain.

" i thought it was quite amazing to hear such an accurate prophecy from them after having come across this rather interesting wikipedia entry and counting how often they have made the same failed prophecy (13, if you include the bible student movement):http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/list_of_dates_predicted_for_apocalyptic_events.

i'm reading a book, called "when prophecy fails," quite an interesting book for someone like me, being rather interested in psychology, human behaviour, logic, truth, etc.. the example in the book explains what happens under certain conditions, when people have a very strong commitment to a prophecy which fails.
