Can you explain truthseeker, why the Gilgamesh Epic, is similar to Noahs Flood, but older?

Also if a Global flood occured in just 4200 years ago, why does WT clearly contradict it self when they accept the building of the Pyramids in Eggypt in the year 4400 B.C? How can Pyramids are build 200 years BEFORE the Great Flood? Just do a search in WT's CD regarding Pyramids and you will see the clear contradiction by the WT.

And if according to WT the Earth was filled with Water, then how come and we find papyrus in the Egyptian desert, dating 4400 B.C or even older than that? To preserve a papyrus you need DRY soil, or sand. If the entire earth was filled with water then we wouldn't have any papyrus, they would have been destroyed by the flooding water...

And finally, how did kangaroos travel to Australia? Why we find certain spieces in certain places and not in all over the world?

Problems with Soccer (Football) from an American Standpoint

so as not to hijack another thread, just a few comments on why we (americans) find that soccer is generally a boring game to watch.. 1. lack of scoring: american football adjusts the rules periodically so that each team averages around 3 touchdowns per game.

basketball added the three-point line to encourage more scoring.

even traditional baseball has tweaked the rules to encourage more scoring.

cofty, I agree with you. Plus the offside rule will result scores like 14-8. That's not the point, since Football will loose the skill of scoring and attacking. If there are teams that like offensive football then we can watch a great game, like Germany in this world cup. that scored 4 goals to England and for to Argentina in the knock out phase.

Football is the King of sports. No other game can literally motivate so many people to get out in the streets and celebrate. From Latin America, Europe, Asia, Africa, Australia, football is the King. I really love Brasilians when they celebrate a game that Celecao has win. They dance samba in the streets with all those hot Brasilians girls to shake...

there is so much wrong with this statement, but i want to just focus on the points that have the highest chance of setting into the jw's mind.. .

what first comes to mind is the fact that jw's have been peddling the "end of the world" being right around the corning for over 100 years.... .

Dinos destroyed 65 million years ago, by a comet that was fallen on Earth. Scientists and geologists found the spot of the impact in the Golf of Mexico. The result of this impact was the end of the reptile Era of the Dynosaurus and the rise of the mammals. Without this impact we would have a different future, perhaps without the Evolution of the mammals we wouldn't had the Human Race..

Regarding Noah's flood, it is just a copy of an older Mythical Mesopotamian legend, the Gilgamesh Epic. Indeed we had varioius stories of Floods in human history, Greeks, Egyptians and this is a result of the Ice melting 10,500 years ago, that caused lot of floods. The story of Noah it could be true, since there was a flood in the Mesopotamian area, about 7000 years ago, when Etna volcano explode in Italy and created a tsunami, reaching Mesopotamia region. A region that is about 300 feet bellow sea level, so it can be easily flooded by waters.

A typical JW answer. Watchtower has become a self-righteous Organization on the footsteps of Scribes and Pharisees in Jesus days.

On a complete different aproach Jesus was associating with prostitutes, tax collectors, and generally all those that the Pharisees consider them to be Am-Harets as they call them, meaning the people of the dust. Jesus gave emphasys to those people instead of the self righteous religious leaders.

WT is acting like a modern day Pharisee and ignores the fact that Jesus came for our sins. No matter what, no one can be saved, that is why Jesus said that even a bad thought is a sin. That is why through His Grace we are saved, and not by our works.

WT has fallen into a serious intepretation mistake. In the Greek Scriptures we find a different meaning from the WT's explanation. Apostle Paul stated clear: Μ? συναναμοιγν?εστε...the literal translation of this is: not mixing, and it is refering for the Holy Communion, when all Christians are becoming One, are united, through Jesus Blood and Flesh. This was the only time when a serious sinner was not allowed to partake the Holy Communion, and this was how the Early Apostolic Church understood the matter.

The Chruch is a place of spiritual healing, a hospital of the Soul, and not a place of pannishment like WT does.

pierce, tied the overlap theory directly to fred franz's lifetime.. did anyone else catch this?.

evidently (and i'm paraphrasing), anyone anointed after franz's death in 1992 is not of the 'generation'.. 5th.

[LONG] Making a plan to leave... I have no friends :'(

the title pretty much explains it all... i don't want to go too much into my story (for paranoid fear of identification), but i have been raised in the "truth", and got baptized at a young age- too young to truly understand what i was getting into.

i still live with my parents, and as such don't want to make a move just yet, as it would destroy virtually everything i have left.

as of now though, i see myself leaning towards agnosticism.. here's my short sob story.

Your story it is very common amongst JW's. There are hundreds of thousands stories like yours. Once you find out the truth about the 'truth', then you cannot stay and pretend.

You can see my previous posts as (justhuman)and you will see that there are people with worst situation like yours. When I left I had a family and children. 10 years have gone and I managed to make a new life, new friends. I was 33 when I left and 39 when I was disfellowshiped.

I enjoy my freedom, and I made my choices regarding religion. So you are young, you are not commited with anyone, you have no children. It is good idea to move into another town, become innactive, make new friends and plan your life according to your will.

I don't suggest you to be disfellowshiped. Like that you will lose all your family bonds. Even if you move to a new town try to avoid to join a JW's congregation. You will save your self from the 'elders' that will call and ask why you don't go to the meetings
