  WTS vs. Star Trek

  star trek claimed to be fantasy and in fact, was fantasy.. wts claims to be the sole truth on earth and in fact, is fantasy.. star trek had spock who solved problems with logic.. wts has a gb who solves problems with bullshit.. star trek had a pompous ass charismatic leader whom everyone loved to watch rant and emote.

  wts had three pompous ass charismatic leaders whom everyone hated to watch rant and emote.. captain kirk was always saving his people from new disasters.. wt leaders are always leading its people into new disasters.. star trek made money by always giving its fans the stuff they wanted.. wts makes money by always charging its fans for stuff neither they nor anyone else else wants.. people had fun when star trek came on.. people would rather have a root canal when meetings come on.. star trek was all about making the cosmos a better place for all.. wts is all about making the cosmos a better place for a few and killing everyone else.. people love to go to star trek conventions.. people would rather be in an earthquake than go to wts conventions.. star trek had a transporter room.. people in meetings wish they also had a transporter room.. star trek had lots of insane villains.. wts had judge rutherford and fred franz.

  same thing.. star trek also had lots of good guys.. good guys are banished from the wts.. star trek had the klingons who spoke a bizarre language.. wts had fred franz who spoke an even more bizarre language.. star trek had all sorts of devices which could cure most any medical problems, but of course, they were science fiction.. wts had the electronic radio biola which it sold and said could cure most any medical problem, but of course, that was science fiction.. star trek had floppy disks, computers you could talk to and flat screen monitors all of which were about 50 years ahead-of-their time.. wts had vaccines which were called "filthy animal pus", humans hearts which were the seat of all emotions, organ transplants which were cannibalistic, human personalities which were also transferred with blood transfusions and black people turning white by reading their literature, all of which were 100 years behihd-their-time.. if you missed a few star trek episodes in a row, no one came by to harrass you.. if you miss a few meetings in a row, you are in deep shit.. star trek tv shows and movies are still played all the time, even after 47 years.. wts dramas never even play a second time.

  What do you do to cope with loneliness?

  hi jw netters.

  in the last few months i have felt extremely lonely.. .

  was a witness.

  I'm not sure it is possible to eliminate loneliness, even in crowded places or a relationship it is possible to feel it. I guess my suggestion would be to have a few strategies available for when the feeling strikes.

  As a suggestion:

  1) if it strikes in the night there may be forums you can chat on as suggested above. If not do something nice, have a brew, watch a TV programme, read.

  2) develop a circle of friends through some social activity, a that way there is some routine that means there will be some social interaction with others during the week and also if you need to talk to people, it isn't always the same one you call and then feel guilty about pestering :)

  3) The Samaritans (in the UK anyway) are a service provided for just the purpose you mention.

  In short, don't be afraid to ask for help and try to develop a few approaches when you don't feel lonely that can be adopted when you do.

  Loneliness is a very common problem for humans. There are many self-help guides - why not try a couple and see if there is anything in them that you feel you can apply yourself.

  When I feel lonely, the thing that helps me the most if contact with friends, or helping others.

  Bibles out of stock at Bethel?

  how jehovah got his name

  yahweh didn't get a name till moses come up with the "i am" thing.. not sure how it made it from i am to yahweh.

  and even crazier from yahwh to jehovah.. but anyway, my question is this: since god didn't have a name until "exodus" and if bible translaters say they are being accurate.... how come the name became retro-active and genesis gives god the name jehovah before he really has a name?.

  how can these translaters call this accurate?.

  Welcome Steve.

  You're at the start of a very interesting journey. It is curious that there is often some dramatic personal event that cracks the glass of the WTS and causes closer inspection of the entire Borganisation leading to the discovery that it is all actually deeply flawed.

  Try not to be become angry or bitter but focus you energy on learning as much as you can about them. If you can chalk your lessons down to experience it will be much better for you in the long run.

  in the last 4 months my eyes have been opened to ttatt, my biggest issue is that the elders have been grooming me to appoint me as an elder.

  I suspect it's not necessarily quite as simple as just saying 'no thanks'. I would think that for a male JW, especially an elder, this is seen as the pinnacle of their achievement. The recognition, the authority, the stamp of approval from the Borganisation and Big J himself, why on earth would any peson decline this honour? Especially after working so hard for 'Kingdom Interests' as a pioneer? If I was offering the position to someone and they declined, I think it would ring alarm bells unless there was some reason I knew up front and that didn't just appear out of the blue.

  Depending in the congregation, and the OP's relationship the elders, his wife, their families etc, he may be concerned that it will raise more amber lights than he is happy to deal with. Sometimes we spot changes in behaviour very quickly and can jump to conclusions equally rapidly about the reasons for them, with or without supporting information.

  My own suggestion is to think of the possible negative outcomes of not accepting and develop a strategy for dealing with each of them whilst raising minimal concerns. Get all the outcomes listed before you start to tackle them, as a single approach that deals with most of them may emerge. The more time spent planning this, the more likely you will be able to control the process without alerting anyone to your real state of mind before you are ready.

  Josephus Does Write About Jesus Christ

  i just happen to have the complete works of josephus, right here in front of me.

  josephus wrote several books including the antiquities of the jews.

  chapter 3 under sedition of the jews against pontius pilate; concerning christ .... paragraph 3 quote : "now, there was about this time, jesus a wise man, if it be lawful to call him a man, for he was a doer of wonderful works, a teacher of such men as receive the truth with pleasure.

  15 one brother who was raised in a christian household wrote that for as long as he could remember, he struggled with homosexual tendencies.

  I think you can be homosexual but you should not have a relationship with someone of the same sex...you have to pray away those urges ...
