Emblem stupidity, and the bizarre dance of the confused memorial-taker
by cedars inwell, i went along to the memorial with mrs cedars.
it was my first since my "awakening" just less than a year ago.
apparently i made a lot of people happy by being there (even if it was only building up false hopes), the most important of which were my family.

The best ex-JW books - and what made them unique...
by cedars inat some point in my life, i would really like to write a book about my jw experience and jw teachings in general.
however, if i did, i would preferably like to write from a unique angle that makes the book a little different from the many others out there.
i can imagine some being quite self-indulgent, and i would want to avoid that wherever possible.. i must confess, due to a variety of circumstances i am not well read when it comes to all the various ex-jw books out there.

Ah! Thanks Fernando. I understand what you mean. I don't pretend to understand what you are trying to achieve. Thanks for explaining though.

Now that I re-read it the leaflet is decidedly odd. It asks for my opinion then implies I don't know what my own opinion is, not even that it is wrong. Why would I go to a KH to hear someone tell me what my own opinion is lol. Good spot
Maybe I should go and find out what I want for dinner tonight?

I know a JW who became a magistrate in the UK and that requires an oath of allegiance. He is still in good standing apparently.

Letter about using iPads at meetings
by under the radar infirst of all, i really appreciate it when official, especially "secret," boe letters and the like are posted here.
it's great to have that stuff on hand, straight from the horse's... uhh...mouth, when certain "friends" deny the slave would ever do or say such and such.... anyway, there have been some references to a letter they sent out about using ipads and the like during congregation meetings.
could anyone provide a scan or link to this letter?

Akward Moment On JWTalk.net
by Jehovah Witness inin a thread entitled "how did we meet our spouses mr or mrs right" a sister told a story of how she cheated on her husband and father of 3 kids with an alcoholic named.
when her husband found out he put a gun to her head and threatened to kill her but she wasn't moved by that and eventually got a divorce.
she is now married to rick but he has no interet in being a witness.

EVERYONE IS AGNOSTIC
by Flat_Accent insince we are born in ignorance, it's the starting point for each of our journeys even if many move away from it.
some return while others never do though even these remain 'agnostic' towards leprechauns and such.
eventually we end up in the same state of ambivalence and uncertainty as when we began.. the journey is what makes a life and if yours contains a positive or negative belief in anything that's fine - so long as it causes no harm.

There's a great site called the Church of the Apethetic Agnostic. I love their motto: "we don't know and we don't care".
Sorry screwed-up the hyperlink.

Will Embracing the Internet lead to Increased Growth for the Watchtower?
by jwfacts inmore important than the reduction in the size of the new magazine is that the watchtower will be actively promoting its website and encouraging people use it to download magazines.
my concern is that this has the potential to lead to an increase in growth for the watchtower.. the door-to-door preaching work has been one of the most inefficient means imaginable to gain converts, and done little more than tie up the time of active jws.
now, by directing people to the internet, witnesses can spread their message at an alarming rate for little cost.. do you feel that this has the potential to lead to a surge in growth of jehovah's witnesses?

I wish the Internet had been around when I felt the cold embrace of their tentacles I can tell you. Lol
It will probably work for those who are prepared to accept their message uncritically but for anyone with even a modest inclination to do some research I suspect it will be a big problem for them. Apropos the remark made earlier about google - once those already in are advised to make more use of the Internet who knows what they will dig up unless theY also produce some type of JWnetnanny.
