Reminds me of my grandad's funeral not so long ago. Sure the elder giving the service got in the bits about his life. Some things i'd not heard of tbh but it was still tinged with JW related stuff. I realised how much the JWs really get into a family and become the elephant in the room. Nothing about xmas, birthdays, holidays etc. All about when they came into the TruthTM, when they were baptized, convention stories, kingdom hall stories. It was almost like he hadn't done anything that didn't involve the JWs. Made me realise how dull my life could have turned out had I not left when I did.

Wikipedia being abused by Jehovahs Witnesses
by Simon ini had a look at the wikipedia entry for jehovahs witnesses yesterday and noticed that it wasn't as comprehensive as it once was.. most links to non-pro-jw sites have gone as is anything truly critical or exposing of their beliefs and practices.. last night i added a link to this site to the "other sources" section.
this morning it is gone.. i wonder whether this is some private zealot who has decided to do it or an organised campaign?.

I see they're still saying any criticism of them is NPOV. The article reads like a pro JW puff piece imo.

Saw it on Friday. Haven't laughed so much in ages. You just know they played it as straight as possible which just made it funnier. We were playing guess the next line and were right most of the time. Oh and everyone cheered when he said the infamous line "I've had it with these motherf***in' snakes on this motherf***in' plane. :-D

WHY I'M BECOMING A MUSLIM!
by Dansk ini came across an interesting site the other day and below is an extract from one of its web pages (does anyone know if the following is actually true as i've never read the quran?).
no wonder so many muslim men wear baggy trousers, it's to hide the erection they get when they look heavenwards!.
what i don't understand is what's in it for the women?

Won't they be surprised when they get to heaven to find out it's actually 72 men for every woman. ;) Don't most relgions have weird ideas about sex? Why wait til heaven to have an orgy when there's plenty of people up for it now. ;)

The real impact of "apostate" sites
by dozy inin a recent discussion with a couple of district overseers and other heavies , the topic of the internet and apostate sites came up.
i asked what impact these were making , numerically , among jws.
the prevailing view was that , numerically , there was negligible impact.

Personally it was the internet and 'apostate' sites that led me out.
Already rather bored at the meetings I googled 'jehovah' one day and up popped one of the Guardian articles regarding them joining the UN.
Then followed the child abuse issue and I knew I couldn't knowingly support that religion anymore.
Of course the more I read and studied the more it all fell apart.
I have no intention of going back. Not even to please family. I just couldn't stomach it. It would be like being forced to watch Titanic again. ;) -
