Hi Puffs,
You're right, she doesn't have to go. I was more thinking that if she didn't they would likely diss her anyway.
Doh. Must remember to check posts for obivous pointless sentences.

What a horrible situation.
Hmmm.
As I've never had to go through this I can't really advise you.
But I can say that from reading about others experiences it's likely that if you don't tell the elders she will. Then you'll have to go to the KC (kangaroo court) and answer all those less than subtle questions.
It's likely that the gossip-mill will go into overdrive regarding you regardless of whether you appear repentant and stay a JW or appear not repentant and are disfellowshipped.
I really don't know what to say. Erm, there's always disassociating yourself to try and stop any rumours but I doubt that would work. What would the elders-wives do without the rumour mill.
I think it depends on how much you have to lose regarding friends and family.
I'm sure someone will be able to give better advice than me, I'm probably just trying to work it out myself in this post.

firstly may i thank all those who took the time and effort to respond to my post on the subject of circuit overseers and corruption?.
the majority of your replies were very well balanced, and i do take the point that not all c/os were or are indeed corrupt, and that there are sincere and genuine brothers out there.
with regard to my new topic, i encountered some very strange thinking from bethel, than what was actually contained within the printed pages of the awake magazine.
Without giving my identity away. (Unlikely really as I doubt anyone who knows me would read this board).
My brother was recently turned down for aux pioneering for continuous reasons.
1. Because he'd not done enough hours the previous months before he was baptized (this was recent and a big picky - most of the family agreed).
2. My mum gets benefits for him. Now, he was born with a rare form of cancer, retinoblastoma iirc. So he only has 1 eye and has to wear fairly thick lensed glasses to be able to see. He also isn't as bright as he perhaps would have been if they hadn't blasted his young brain with radio waves when he was a baby.
Personally I never particulary liked my old cong. They were far too cliquey. You know, have to be part of the ring to get the privlages or invites to gatherings etc..
Edit: Not that I was after privlages or anything. I couldn't care less about being able to do the sound, mics etc.
Anyway, that's my experience.

i have only suspicions about this, and an elder at the hall over 2 -1/2 years ago tipped me off to this and kind of semi-verified my long held suspicions.
i never did get to elder school or even ms school because i never kissed enough ass, so i can't emphatically prove it myself.. he basically inferred or implied that nearly all the wtb&ts late 20th century problems had something to do with the "great" apostacy (witch hunt) of c.1980.. i have also talked to my brother-in-law about this matter a couple of times and he seems to be of the same bend or thinking.
it's kind of like the borginazational culture that everyone "believes" or it's "known" that the troubles were rooted out when ray franz and friends were booted.. .
Outlaw:
That's exactly the kinda thing I need to show my mum. She believes the general myth that the society never said anything about it.
It'll be nice to point these things out to her.

thought i'd let you know about a chat i had with my jw mum a couple of days ago.
she was baptized at the age of 9 some years ago.. i casually asked her about 1975. she said pretty much what i expected her to say, that the brothers, her included read to much into it etc.
i asked whether the society had said anything about it, hinted at it even.
Thanks for the replies. I'll check out that site.
What I want is it to appear that I got it all from the watchtower cdrom as any hint of "apostate" stuff might put her off. Don't know if it would but I would rather not risk it.
She knew a lot about the issue, Adam's creation and Eve's creation etc. This could be an interesting discussion.
Thanks again guys. You apostates are nice people really
Shame all ex-JWs are tarred with the same brush.

Hi all,

Now, I see a great little opening here.
She knows I'm studying the WT history because I told her that I honestly couldn't "make the truth my own" without some sort of study of it. She agreed with me on this, thank goodness, saying that it says to do that in the Bible.
I believe she is open minded about it really. I feel she would be appalled by what's going on regarding the paedophilia covering up etc. The thing is, being in the UK, she will unlikely get to see Dateline and therefore not know about it. Maybe something to bring up later. Hopefully one of the main investigating programs will do something about it. I did read on this board that there was something but due to some careless talking on this board that the WTS got wind of it and sorted it out before the program could air.
I'm going to look up the old Watchtowers before 1975 to look for obivous statements regarding 1975 or that period.
Anyone done this before and can save me having to read through that mind-numbing material?
Thanks in advance,
Ignored One. (Iggy).
has anyone read the book crisis of conscience?i want to get it,but i would like to know if the information is helpful.. wow it's a wide open world, use your.
own thoughts.
I read CoC recently. It's quite a eye-opener. I don't think it affected as much as some on this board. It depends on how deep you were involved with the WTS I suppose.
I was however completely shocked by the obivous witch-hunt that went on. So un Christian like is was unbelievable. Especially the fact that they overlooked the fact that someone else had been seen eating with Ray's landlord and yet nothing was said about them.
What is Ray's status now? Is he classed as an apostate because of writing the book? The last the book says is that he was disfellowshiped for eating with a disassociated person.
Can anyone give me the latest?
Thanks
Ignored One. (Iggy).
i've just been reading the watchtower's blood policy and i think i've got it.
the wtbtss give you a "one shot" deal.
if you accept a blood transfusion once and express sorrow and regret, you're forgiven and can remain in good standing.
Hi.
I've just read the book of Acts. First time ever really, and I did it without having some old guys in Brooklyn tell me what it means, it speaks for itself.
Although the NWT says "from blood" I noticed other translations say "taste blood" etc. Although I imagine your average dub would say "well they (the translator) got it wrong" it's still interesting. The context would fit the Jewish food requirements at the time as it mentions things strangled and things sacrificed to idols (usually food I'd imagine).
I had a small talk to my mum about this amoungst other things. I was surprised how much she knew generally, she doesn't talk about what she believes much.
I might post some other things we spoke about in a new thread.

ok, on one yahoogroup i'm on there's been an amazing 2 responses.. 1. a link to the jw media site on 2 witnesses (prolly a new addition no doubt).
2. a comment about the fact that the girl (erica?
) was wearing a cross so she couldn't be a witness.

My guess is that the moderators have not allowed the majority of posts to go through no doubt.
What's the response been on some other forums you guys are on, particularly the ones that aren't moderated by hard-line JWs?
