  1975 selling of houses

  as 1975 was approaching, many witnesses sold their property.

  do you know about specific cases that are willing to share their experience of doing so?.

  If I had known about and read that 1969 Awake I never would have become a witness. My first study was in about 1974 with an elder and he had the faith in 1975 ,so when I asked him about the 1975 teaching he was a bit cagey at first but said that he thought it would happen then.

  I said my soon to be MIL said nobody knows the day or hour ,he was awkward about this and I quit my study then but was sucked in later because my wife became a JW. But that Awake would have sealed it forever if I had known .

  And another thing I remember is that at the time a lot of brothers were pedalling Life insurance for a living ,if they believed in 1975 they must have had good chuckle amongst themselves for those poor bastards about to die.

  you may have seen the story of the couple who just gave birth to twins who developed from embryos frozen for 30 years.

  i'm delighted for the parents and hope the twins grow to be healthy.

  it does pose some questions for those who insist embryos are in fact humans with souls.

  Which leads to what if someone is dying passes and then goes through a cryogenic process, does the spirit get locked in and frozen in time if the process is done 13 seconds (for example) after the last breath?

  What if the process was late by 4 seconds and the spirit leaves to go to god ,does it crave to go back to the body later?

  So would the soul be created in the embryo at the meeting of the sperm and egg ,or when the embryo starts multiplying ,or when the eventual feotus breaths it's first breath ?
  

  Or perhaps the soul is the fertilized egg and has no spirit so therefore could be considered not a human life?

  regardless of belief/non-belief in the bible account, why is the ark nearly always depicted by both believers & non-believers as a huge boat, with a rounded hull & stern, and a tapered bow?

  In the past here it was seen as like serving in the military but with a little grayness ,since they did not carry.

  These days the police carry guns all the time so I am not sure whether there are still JW police officers.

  It's interesting to note that the society used this particular brothers knowlege and involvement to assist them in the "Security" department at assemblies!

  11. Cannot be a Police Officer

  There were two police officers in the congs,I attended ."

  When I started studying again 1980 in Adelaide South Australia there was a single brother who was a police officer and sometimes he was brought by my study conductor to sit in on my study. I posed the question to him as to how he could be a JW and yet carry a gun , he said at the time they kept their guns in the glove compartment of the police car when on duty. So I further pressed him that if his police partner was being threatened would he use his gun to protect him/her? He had to admit he would and was very awkward about it. I became a JW still and used to remind him of that conversation, he struggled with that and eventually years later asked to get a transfer to be a court officer and that seemed to appease his conscience ,the elders left him alone but I saw the hypocrisy and he knew it.

  He also knew that during the Vietnam war I was in the Royal Australian Navy and left as a concietious objector before I had ever heard of JW's ,this still bothers me how I was so dumb to become a JW.

  They do speak two different stories ,we would hedge around this issue when we called on people.

  "Observe, however, that Jesus did not leave it up to humans to determine who are the "sheep" and who are the "goats." How fine that is! For, if we humans were responsible to judge, how could we properly evaluate factors such as: How much of an opportunity did a person have to hear and accept the good news?"

  And yet that is the very thing that happens ,we were taught to only view ourselves in the WTS that would get saved !

  What about the ark and the city of refuge etc ,no room for hope for those outside ,what hypocrites.

  Which of you readers are being shunned by their relatives / friends ?

  a simple " me" if you dont want to say more--or a short explanation about who is shunning you and how long has this been going on.. i'll set the ball rolling: my daughter--her husband and children; my younger son --no contact from them for 40 years...because i left their religion.. (edit--i just noticed the typo in the header--if should be of ).

  I stopped going to meetings about 17 years ago, but after I exposed child molestors in my hall to sisters calling on my door the elders were around pretty quick.

  Since then I am am satan to them and only had JW's who have not read the do not call list come to my door or newer elders call me.

  All the JW's in my old state and home have shut me out.

  Just the other day my ex wife called me to let me know one of her young nephews who had a wife and two children suicided ,when we lived in that state years ago we had alot to do with his JW family both he and his older sister were still JW's. His sister has been married 3 times and she is only about 32. The boys grand father is a JW pedophile and his father had sex (and a child} with his wifes little sister when she was 12 and this crime was hidden by the elders and the parents of the girl (also JW's) from the police years ago.

  Because of the closeness to the dead nephew and his sister, I said to my ex that I would go to the funeral normally ,but since I am shunned by all who I once associated with as a JW it would be pointless of me to go and show my support of the dead young man's family. It would make a bad situation worse so I am not going but my ex (left when I did) is going with her brother{a JW) and she is at a loss to know what reception she will get . This religion is really ugly.

  WT Style Pacificism

  episode 203 of netflix ... i am a killer looks at the murder of christopher chavez in texas.

  christopher chavez was a 22 year old ministerial servant and a born-in son of an jw elder.

  after a thursday night meeting and a quick bite to eat afterwards with friends at a local restaurant, he was kidnapped, taken to a gas station and forced to drive his killers around for hours while they were in the back seat.

  Most witnesses would have followed the same course I suppose because the they believe the sky daddy will be watching/protecting them.

  But if your an elder and another JW defrauds you ,turning the cheek or letting yourself be wronged would be ignored and vengeance is yours to mete out.

  Life can be tough ,we have had someone smashing on our door at early hours of the morning several times,no idea who it is and my partner is terrified. Now if I was a witness and called the police they probably would not come but I did call the police the last time and told them what happened ,then I said you had better send someone because I am not of a kind disposition toward the person doing this for the second time that night ,and they will find a body in the street. Well they were there in a few minutes.

  Sadly we are not patting pandas and lions like in a cartoon living a life of pretend ,nor will we ever be.
