many of you are aware of the ongoing battle over clergy exemption from reporting of child abuse.

the question is, are we in the field doing enough to push for what is right!?.

there are always multiple ways of looking at an issue, and the viewpoint advocated by the catholic church, the mormon church and the watchtower church is that the provision of confession without the fear of being turned in to police allows an abuser to seek help to stop his abuse.

Seems to me that if the religious organizations report these crimes they have heard in confession they will lose members which in the end translates to dollars.

Born in 2014

it just occurred to me that those born in 2014, 100 years after the epochal date of 1914, will be 9 years old this year and are starting to become candidates for baptism.. 1914 used to be relatable in that our parents or grand parents lived then, but not any more.. it’s dropped so far into history that any significance linked to it is just as convincing as the black death being a harbinger for armageddon.. never mind that we are also now crossing the 100 year threshold for the 7 trumpets of declarations that occurred during the 1920’s!

remind me, how important were these angelic messages?

if i was still a jw i would have to isolate my jw brain from all thinking and reasoning so i could continue to believe.. honestly, did it even make sense back in the day?.

My first study was in 74/75 with an elder who believed 1975 was the end ,well he's long dead and the memory of my study seems so very long ago.

And yet Charles Taze Russel started to formulate the JW teachings 100 YEARS before that !

Wedding Anniversary #62

hi friends , i thought i would just let you know it`s my wife and i, 62nd wedding anniversary today.. not that we were able to celebrate much as my wife wasn`t up to it today .. however i did manage to give her a couple of champers at home ,while i had a couple o ales with friends down at the club and managed to put on lotto for tonite and a couple of keno`s from the club ,you never know the god`s might smile upon us for doing something right after all these years.?.

Threats in field service?

in reading about the 54 year old man being shot, i was wondering if any of you were ever shot at, or threatened with a gun.. i was in a car group where a woman came out waving around, telling us to get off her land.

in another situation a man told the car group to turn and leave or he was calling the cops.

Some years ago witnessing nearby on the vineyard properties me and another brother were confronted up a driveway by a man who i thought had a rifle but must have put it down somewhere when coming down his drive and grabbed us by the shoulders and pushed us at the same time back out of the property.abusing us .

Two occasions had dogs set upon me when pioneering.

One occasion walking to a house on a property a german shepherd stalked and attacked me several times on the back of my legs ,had to beat him off with my witnessing bag and told the owners when I got to the house and they were disinterested.

At a household gate one time a woman set her pit bull on me and it latched onto my hand and she waited a while looking me in the eyes before she told it to release.

Out in the bush in the middle of Australia in the opal mining town of Coober Pedy I was witnessing with a brother from another congregation (did'nt know him well) and he made a silly comment about the war troubles in the home owners country and he went for his rifle and suddenly an Aboriginal woman who looked distressed burst out from amongst the men there and ran out past us at the door. It took a while to calm the men down while this stupid brother just looked sheepish. That time I thought I'd had it and the rest of the morning my heart was pounding ,we had been told to not wear ties as the locals would think we were Police. That same day someone let off a bomb outside the Police station.

Not all country territory was bad ,one time with a carload of pioneers doing a farm I drove up to the farm house and the cows came up to to our car and proceeded to nudge it and one even chewed and ripped off my outside rearview mirror ,we all laughed like hell.

Back in the early 1980's in my congregation was a brother reaching out for the "priveledge" of ministerial servant . He was in his 30's had a family and was popular with the congregation.

Trouble was he had a tightly trimmed beard. We would work on the field often and on one occasion we talked about this issue of facial hair and he was told by the body of elders he would have to lose the beard if he wanted to be a n MS. He agonized over this and did'nt want to shave it and even said to me that he had a skin condition that shaving irritated but still the elders said he had to shave . Well he did shave and shortly after was made an MS and his skin did visibly show problems but he must have found a way to treat his affliction for he became an elder and is still a JW to this day.

This is only one instance I have seen of many ,so anyone who tells you the WTS does not enforce this is deluded or lying .

How Will They End 1914 Teaching?

i'm sure this has been discussed, but 1914 has to go away.

instead of, the overlapping generation teaching, they should have just ditched 1914. .

they should have done that a long time ago with 1975. it's the last of the teachings in the charles taze russell era.. i'm thinking they just will stop talking about it, and it will be out of the mind of the rank and file loyal witnesses .

I'd like to know how the people living back then would have viewed words like "desolation" of the land ,what it meant to them in real terms. Did it mean total destruction and nobody living there or something like damaged by warring armies and no structure left to organize daily life like there used to be .

This is where I wonder if we today can say for certain that the scriptures are totally literal and accurate or not .

Perhaps "Scholar" won't answer my questions because I am beneath him,an apostate if you will ,uneducated it's true but schooled for many years by the WTS which they told me, gave me a better education than university.
