has anyone ever read the new testament- critically- and not theologically?

by theologically i mean not reading the bible with the intention of understanding the nature of god and religious truth.

but instead, reading the bible by analyzing only the facts of what is written, in an unbiased frame of mind to pull out what is actually happening in the written stories.. first of all, if you were to read the nt in chronological order, paul’s 7 authentic letters would come before the gospels of matthew, mark, luke, and john.

Good read Pete ,I think it is hard to read the new testament and study it to make sense of it because people have pre- concieved root beliefs which could account for different understandings of what is read.

Yet what if an extremely powerful computer of AI ability (as far as science is capable of today) were to analyze the NT with as few as possible programmed predjudices and define the text and explain the meaning and if there are any real truths to the text. Now that would be interesting to see ,an explanation of the text without human predjudice and corrupt interpretation.

Some christians might say what the computer came up with is wrong because it has no soul or human mind to fathom gods things. But that is the thing is'nt it? No human is perfect so the very writings themselves are corrupted by who put them down and who deals with the copies afterwards, and in the future who corrupts the original thoughts by believing in the text the way they want to like Paul.

A computer readout of it's analysis and explanation of the texts failures would be illuminating. Why do I say "the texts failures" ? Well with 40 odd thousand christian beliefs all catering to human belief systems self serving their own narcisisstic ways, the core of the problem may well be the HUMAN condition that created the text.

Governing Body Update #9...Jehovah is guiding his people during the pandemic

david splane starts off with, ''i thought we might reflect on jehovah's goodness and the way he's been guiding his people during the pandemic.''.

not once in his talk does he mention that jehovah would give all members a super immune system that would fight off the virus.

neither does he mention that jehovah would reduce positive covid-19 numbers, hospital admissions and covid-19 deaths of his people.. mr. splane: how does the almighty, all knowing jehovah guide his people during the pandemic?.

Good question when considering the above ,the GB is saying nothing more than what doctors and politicians are advising people to protect themselves!

So How is it that there is a higher than the general populace infection and death rate among JW's

Could it be that Jah's people are a rebellious lot who don't listen to practical advice from the world ,nor even their own GB who are now parroting the words of the world?

Maybe because Jw's have ingrained in them that they are something special ,well that's what the GB have told them for so long , but really the only ones of them that have stayed safe from a pandemic is the priveleged who lock themselves in a compound and don't have to go into the world and earn a living and pay for that protective compound of the GB and it's associates.

There has been no special information from the GB that actually has been followed by their drones to protect them in a pandemic. So therefore where is the protection promised by the bible? Even stopping the Jw's from meeting and visiting peoples homes with their message has still lead them to be infected and die more than the general populace. So once again the GB says something and yet the sheep are at fault ,the rebellious lot would have been better to not go out into the world and provide for their families and a safe compound for those GB members.

Perhaps it is because they can't speak in tongues or heal people miraculously or just plain not make mistakes when they prophesy. OR the word Apostle sounds too much like Apostate.

What Congregation Scandal Still Troubles You?

i was appointed as a regular pioneer in a certain congregation.

in that congregation, a very obese male pioneer seduced a nice looking married pioneer sister who had two teenage sons.

her husband was a ms. both were df'd.

1: The hall near me ,a wealthy business brother in dry wall industry,new to congo kissed a lot of arse bought a block of land , sub divided it and gave part to to the congo to build a kingdom hall but presented it to the authorities as housing and hall on the plans, put some plumbing illegally from the housing sector of the original part onto the kingdom hall block .All to save money I suppose but the brothers swallowed the BS and appointed him an elder not long after. A few years later I found out thru a sister her best freind was his daughter and he was a pedophile.

2:In the hills of Adelaide South Australia another brother on the regional Quick build commitee and a builder himself tried to use hall funds to prop his business ,he also was not paying tradesman on his companies jobs ,for one night someone planted a bomb on his freshly laid concrete slab and blew it up , what lovely people!

3:When I moved to the state of Queensland I was asked to audit the congregation books as soon as I started at their meetings ,apparently the last servant had ripped off thousands of dollars .

Like others I could write a book so glad to have left .

Just saw the ad on ABC TV for this tomorrow night ,going to record this as I always hear about events like this after it shows.

I really hope they give a balanced view in the time they have ,there has been so much damage done to peoples lives .JW people need to focus less on how little time there is before Armaggedon ,and focus more on how much time they have to be honest with themselves about how the organisation is corrupting their conscience.

@ Waton yes I may have been boasting and yet I can still remember the feeling of laying on the tank and feeling the fear and beautiful excitement of that one time and still exhilerated by the memory 50 years later. I can also remember the sick feeling of close calls ,yet here I am an old man with the wonderful knowlege I took a chance and succeeded ,the alternative was living a life of regret that I was too fearful to enjoy the thrills of life ,the only one you get.

Hi St. George of England I know ,it would be worth a lot especially to me . I sold it to buy a car and go Motocross racing ,I had crashed it into a guard rail at 70 mph around that time ,had it rebuilt with a non standard paint job and here is a photo of me with it but it never seemed to be the same even though the frame had been straightened enjoy!

In 1971 on plains road 5 minutes from where I live now on my tweaked CB 750 K1 Honda 4 . it started shaking it's head at about 115 mph ,and thats when I knew I had to upgrade the suspension to Konis.
