most of today's jws were not members in 1975 or in the 9 years prior to 1975, so they were not eyewitnesses to what really went on during that period.
i was a pioneer in that period, and i was an eyewitness to what went on.. those jws who are still active today and who were around in that period will typically say it was the "brothers" who "ran ahead of jehovah" and "read more into" the 1975 prediction than what was actually stated.
they are like any group who prospers by manipulating others whether it be religion, politics or business.
what is traumatizing to many, including myself is that we really really believed what they told us.
my short stint at Bethel was filled with eye opening moments of pure shock.
I remember my mom talking about the 6 month rule, but she didn't follow it. she would study with
people for years.
having a look through the march wt pdf and noticed the graph showing the growth of jws and did a little basic math.
now math was not my strongest subject at school so i can stand some correcting on this if need be... but anyway, a little fun with numbers:.
1970; 1'483'000 is a growth of about 390% (av 19.5% per year).
1. percentages of growth always go down as the numbers go up. This is true of any numeric progression.
2. the fact that they are reporting peaks seems a bit desperate to keep the number growing.
3. a much smaller percentage of non witnesses have any clue what witnesses believe now that did 50 years ago.
4. what about the GB member who said the preaching work was done?
just noticed that in the february 2010 study edition of the watchtower, they refer to the "millions now living will never die" talk in 1918, but they have changed the title to "millions now living may never die".
only problem, they included the picture of the invitation to the talk, which says 'will'.. ooops.

we got a call a couple of days ago from this older brother in the hall.
he is a great guy who is in his eighties.
he has a very hard time walking and just getting around because of old age but he is the kindest man.
well i have to tell ya. my mom is 83 and her greatest joy in life is going out in service. the witness work is really all she has ever known.
when i call she loves for me to ask about her service experiences. now, i went another path. i don't want her judging me for the path i
took, and i as well do not judge her for the path she took. i am sorry she is not happier. but i do know that the things that do make her
happy are her witness friends, meetings and going in service.

for myself it would have to be the year they picked as the destruction of ancient jerusalem 607 bc.. i have an assumption this was done purposely to coincide correctly with making 1914 an a important pivotal date.
in human history, which by all factual evidence it was not.. unassuming and deceiving manipulation for self marketing purposes.
The Chronology Lie has made sooooo many people change their life plans, put off needed surgery, sacrifice their dreams, on and on and on.

largly, i found over the years, the media seldom runs stories on jws.
sure there is the odd sensation in a paper about a child not having blood or something or some brief mention.. why has the media not got hold of the child abuse situation?
with the mainstream church's in australia and globally, they had a field day.

when I was at Watchtower Farm a bunch of us took a road trip one Saturday and one of us was
reading a non Watchtower book about the history of early Christianity that he had checked out of the
Bethel library. At one point he read out loud that hundreds of thousands of early Christians were
killed by the Romans. We all kind of went hmmm? didn't know that there were that many early
Christians, even though the Bible says Peter baptized 3000 in one day. so if the 144,000 were the
first firsts, the first 144,000 Christians, how could there still be 60,000 of them alive in the 1930's.
Its bogus. totally bogus.
