No, I'm defending my religion.

To be clear, we're talking about the "religion" of Jehovah's Witnesses here, right?

~ The same religion that demands that a member refuse lifesaving medical treatment because they mistranslate the bible?

~ The same religion that protects pedophiles, rapists, murderers because they mistranslate and misuse the bible?

~ The same religion that demands that it's members remain politically neutral in ALL MATTERS and dubbed the UN as Babylon the Great, yet joined up with it secretly and hid it from their members until a news article blew the whistle on them? And then used the lame-ass excuse that it was for a "library card" when any friggin' schmuck could have access to the UN library WITHOUT joining up as an NGO and agreeing to uphold the UN charter, which includes printing and disseminating information about the UN and it's practices. Notice, in that 10 year period, the WTBTS printed NOTHING derogatory about the UN, only positive blurbs of facts about what they do or what they've reported on. Hell, we didn't even study the Revelation Climax book in that time period!

~ The same religion that lied to a foreign government by omission about it's DFing policy regarding the blood issue in order to gain more footing in that country?

~ The same religion that commands it's members to refrain from gambling and remain politically neutral, yet owns stock in military applications?

This is the group of hypocrites, the "religion" you're defending?? Let me save you some time...put your energy toward a more noble cause. Supporting frauds and defending liars isn't a winning game.

Now, you can query, “LIFE STORIES OF JEHOVAH’S WITNESSES” and there are hundreds where real names are given.

But yet, other "encouraging stories" are given as examples in articles and books published by the WTBTS and the names are changed. Or the person who the article is referring to is named as "One young Christian" or "One Christian elder" or "One Christian wife", etc. Names are omitted altogether. Your argument is totally baseless.

Dating after Divorcing a JW...

any experiences/advice on dating (moving on) after a separation or divorce from a jw?.

i know that when (not if) i leave the org, my wife will probably separate then divorce me (and we have 3 small children).

i only know of horror stories when it comes to that type of scenario.

I'm just going to echo the sentiments of others who have posted before me. Give it TIME, get to know yourself and who you are, learn to be happy on your own before you decide to share that happiness with someone else. Don't depend on finding a companion to make you happy. I waited 2 years before getting into a serious relationship. I dated casually (very casually), but nothing serious. I'm glad I waited, even though at times it was hard because I really was lonely. But I had some things to work on. I like to think that I wasn't ready yet for my bf, just like he wasn't ready yet for me.

So wait it out, do some healing, and take it slowly.

Just because you personally have never experienced or known anyone in such a situation doesn't mean that they don't happen. Maybe YOU think they are "false stories" because you can't stand the fact that some of them, most of them, are true. Turning a blind eye and assuming they are false does not make them so. Ignoring the truth doesn't turn it into a lie in reality, only in your own mind.

What of all the "stories", the testimonies, of victims of childhood sexual abuse? Are those "false stories", too? What of the stories of the severe beatings some JW children have endured and the subsequent mental and emotional scars of such abuse? Are those also "false stories"?

The truth is, the only "false stories" we find around here are the cut & paste dialogs that you post from the Watchtower.

UGH... I can't stand listening to anything remotely JW. Years ago, my parents tried to get me and my then-husband to listen to Ciro Aulicino's famous talk... I got about 5 minutes into it and I was completely pissed off! I couldn't believe the crap I was hearing, and I was an active dub at the time! It didn't sit well with me at all. I asked them to turn it off after 10 minutes and they offered to make me a copy. I kept refusing and they wanted to know WHY. So, I made some lame-ass excuse about not knowing the source of the talk and if it was REALLY a brother giving it because it sounded very judgmental and "fire and brimstone". I said I would not "jeopardize my spirituality" by listening to something that cannot be coroborated, IMO. It was a CD that they got from a friend, who got it from a friend, and so on.

In reality, I couldn't listen to any more of that tripe and didn't want my uber-dub husband to obtain a copy in order to pound it into my head day after day.

I understand you are trying to make some points with your parents, and I haven't read your backgroud, but I admire you for the strength you have and the fact that you are willing to get yourself all worked up in order to prove something to them. I myself came to the realization that my parents are happy being blind. My mother in particular.

Falcon, since he completely left the JW's, is there any way for you to find him? Facebook maybe? And just try to find out where he stands and go from there? If he's completely out and wants nothing to do with it, you could probably explain and apologize.

Falcon~ That was absolutely beautiful to read, yet heart-wrenching at the same time. Thank you for sharing that with us and giving us a reminder that the dead aren't the only ones missing this weekend...

I agree with OTWO...wish you were out here with us instead of still stuck in. You know that I completely understand the great personal sacrifice it takes to leave when you still have family in and you also know that we will all be here when you are completely ready.

Got Shunned By Doomsday Brigade Sitting in Front of the Grocery Store

today i went to my local grocery store and there were three doomsday brigade jw cult members that have watched me grow up from a teenager.

i walked right up to them and said hi...not once but three times.

they looked right through me as if i was invisible.

Oh I'd LOVE to do something like that! I think it would say a lot if it were understated and not over-the-top or in-your-face...a simple table set up with pamphlets outlining the BITE model and a small list if groups that are considered to be cults and how to protect yourself from falling victim...

Maybe while we're at it, we can schedule a 3-person worldwide protest at grocery stores (tongue planted firmly in cheek)

Tammy, Man in the Box isn't really religious in nature... It's not encouraging people to deny Christ or anything like that. It's basically about censorship and uses animal cruelty as a metaphor... When the lyrics were written, Staley and Cantrell were discussing veal and factory farming over lunch and the song was basically born from that. Veal calfs are kept in boxes (and yes, wallowing in shit), not seeing the light of day or anything else, only what they are being fed (feed my eyes/can you sew them shut). From Cantrell's point it is mainly about censorship, Staley felt it was more about people, being stuck living in the places that they were born and raised in, the day to day routine, which creates a kind of box that you end up living your life in. This was said by Cantrell in an interview on one of their CD sets.

As for the Jesus Christ/Deny your maker bit...right after, it says "He who tries will be wasted"...so it seems it's not anti-Christian, but a warning... That's how I take it, anyway. Just thought you might like to know some facts about it .
