It's my personal opinion that Rick Fearon shouldn't be allowed to post his bullshit here anymore. This site helps a lot of people wake up from WT influence, but if the first thing a doubting JW sees is Rick's posts, they're likely to RUN back to the "flock". I know that's how I felt when I saw the Six Screens site when I started questioning things. I saw a foaming rabid apostate harrassing the people in Bethel about ridiculous crap instead of focusing on the REAL issues.

Father Elders going mad !
by koolaid-man inthe stress on jehovah's witness elders raising their children in "the truth" is causing many to literally go mad.. keeping their children in " the spiritual ark" is becoming more and more difficult.. many elders are snapping under the pressure.. one of our guests on the six screens conference call told of her elder father ( who everyone at the kingdom hall thought was an angel) came home from the meeting and killed the family dog in the kitchen with his bookbag as the family looked on....... join us tonight oct. 22, 2011 at 7 pm edt.
.... our guest will be wendy lee tucker former jw whose father was an elder and terribly abused her physically and emotionally.. she received horrific beatings..... hit with a bat, punched at, receiving a broken nose and became a prisoner in her home.. wendy was looked in her room with the doors being nailed shut when the family went off to the kingdom hall.. a far cry fom being a "spiritual paradise".
it is easy to get on the call....no computer is necessary.... just dial 712-432-8710 and when asked for pin use 9925. our lines open at 6:30 pm edt.....so come on early and talk with all those who have been "touched by the tentacles of the watchtower".

Most of those are theories/beliefs that were told to me growing up. Here are some more:
Buying items at yard sales will open you up to demon attacks. I actually asked my mom "If I bought a Truth book at a yard sale and the person had a Ouija board for sale as well, would my Truth book attract demons?"... The response "*crickets*".
In the New System, women won't have any pain at all in child birth. But wait a minute, wasn't Eve's curse an INCREASE in labor pain? You can't INCREASE something that's not there to begin with, can you? Even animals have labor and birth pain, they just know how to tap into their instinct to ease it and make it tolerable. Humans have gotten away from that with the advent of mainstream medicine and trying to "doctor" a mother when SHE actually needs to be mothered herself during her birth.
Jesus took the throne in heaven in 1914. This actually goes hand-in-hand with the 607 crap.
Christmas shouldn't be celebrated because Jesus never said to celebrate his birth, only his death...December 25th also isn't Jesus' birthday and all things having to do with Christmas are Pagan and from Satan. It's unfortunate that these people are so blind and closed-minded that they wouldn't even research this for themselves. Pagans don't even believe in the Christian Satan, let alone do anything to worship him. As a matter of fact, the celebration we know as Christmas, as well as Yule, go back even further than that. I don't understand why they can't look at it as a time for family to gather together in love and exchange gifts and be happy. They have to ruin everything. Wedding bands are okay, even though they likely have Pagan origins...yet a warm seasonal celebration is completely out of the question.
The star seen on the night Jesus was born was put there by Satan. Ummmm...are we to believe that this former angel is so powerful that he can play God and control the heavenly bodies now? Seriously?

While the romantic side is nice and squishy, there were 2 other people that were seriously injured because this 94 year old man (who had his license revoked for numerous accidents) got behind the wheel with his wife and decided to shirk the law. So although it's sweet that they died together, they wouldn't have had to die a painful death like that if he would have just kept himself at home and not gotten behind the wheel.

Not really, because "apostates" technically never get "unindoctrinated" -- they just switch from one form of indoctrination to another.
You're gonna have to explain that one for me. As an "apostate", I haven't left one form of indoctrination for another. I'm not a part of any church, I'm not affiliated with any religion. I actually have my own beliefs (or lack of). I'm not religious at all. I haven't been "indoctrinated" into anything else. So how is this statement true? Or are you making blanket statements and painting with a wide brush (and other cliches lol)?

She prayed for me.... and I spent the afternoon puking my guts out
by Scully ini recently did a favour for one of my co-workers by exchanging a shift with her so she could have a day off when she needed it for a family event.. we worked together last night, and she was so excited about the family event that happened a couple of days ago - she really appreciated being able to go.
so this morning, at the end of our shift, she tells me that she is going to church before she goes home to sleep, and she is going to pray for me to have many good things from god for doing this favour for her.. i'm flattered that she thinks it was such a big deal, but i told her "no really, that is not necessary... you really don't have to pray for me!
" she was insistent!!

Agreeing with the above poster about seeing this sort of thing in the Kingdom Hall. Hell, I WAS this child! I was writing my own talks by the time I was 8 with NO HELP from my mom. I set up the scenarios, found the supporting scriptures, EVERYTHING. Not only that, but I mimicked large words IN CONTEXT (as do most JW children). What 5 year old knows what the hell a "propitiatory sacrifice" is? Many people who studied with the JW's as adults had to have that term explained to them. This kid is just parroting what was told to him by his parents. There's no "holy spirit" involved, no "god". Just some greedy-ass parents using their child to do their dirty work. It's sad and sickening.

Some Possible Ways to Avoid DF and DA Announcements
by DT inthe recent events in australia reveal that the watchtower is very sneaky.
they use a maze of corporate structures to avoid or limit liability.. well, it's possible for apostates to be sneaky too.
i'm actually beginning to think that there is much we can learn from how the watchtower society does things.. many apostates have the same problem.

A person could also ask that their records be transferred to another congregation, perhaps one that is far away, so that even if they did make an announcement no one who knows the person would even hear it. This request might be refused, but a carefully worded letter could still be seen as an act of resignation from the local congregation, thereby barring them from taking any judicial action in the future.
I wondered about this option myself. I mentioned it awhile back, but it was mentioned that there's now an online database that the congregation secrateries have to communicate and send files between BOE's. So, conceivably, they could notify the original congregation that you've DA'ed and it would be up to the congregation there if they want to make an announcement due to the fact that everyone there knows you...sort of like a "warning" to them. I've heard of multiple congregations making the announcement about ONE person being DFed or DAing. This is why I've completely dropped off the grid where the elders are concerned. They don't have my phone number, nor my address...Nothing. I walked away and I'm completely done.
I think the letter threatening legal action if slander occurs via an announcement is still the way to go for those who just want to leave but still have reasons why they can't be DF'ed/DA formally.

Things that made you cringe at "the meetings"
by i_drank_the_wine ini always cringed so hard when a "brother" or "sister" would make some overly heartfelt comment about jehovah-something, usually related to a personal experience of theirs, and get all teared up and/or start crying.. once this fringe dude that's been df'd twice now was giving a talk and kept having these long awkward pauses where he looked like he was real stressed out, then he would start up again, stutter, slip up, and repeat the process until he looked down and went "i, i just can't do this" and walked off the stage and left the hall.. it also made my spchincter pucker when a young person would give some super devotional comment on how much they love big j and whatnot, which would make the congregation all smile in their hearts and wag their heads in approval..

I think it was the hypocrisy of it all. For instance, the brother who screamed at me red-faced and threatened to beat me with the belt when I slept over his house (I was fiends with his daughter) was giving a comment the following Sunday about being mild-tempered and displaying self-control. Things like that. Or the ones who would give the "look after orphans and widows" talks, and specifically talk about those who were SPIRITUAL orphans and widows...but my family knew from experience that they were the most guilty of ignoring them.
I despised the talks about Armageddon and how all the "wicked" (ie. non-JW's) would be destroyed. That always made me feel uncomforatable, especially thinking about all the babies that "god" would kill.

told my parents to never ever tell me they love me again....
by oompa in...i told them in a very serious sitdown in their living room....said..."because if you cant show it then it does not count...that is not real love no matter who tells you it is....because it is how it makes me feel that determines if it is love....not if you just say it...and me and my sons do not feel that love at all now"....and i stayed calm and talked slowly and barely shed a tear as i held them back...and i had asked them to not say a word but just listen...dad said they would as long as it was not about religion as i knew he would.
this was two of the worst days of my life in a row..i told them the pain me and my boys feel from their shunning is worse than if they had died...that then i could grieve naturally and move on because that is normal....grief helps you cope...my grief is different because they choose to act like i am dead and normal grief does not seem to work on that.
i shared an epiphany with them i had about mens rules vs gods great idea of dna (but no i am not sure about a god anymore)it went kinda like this:.

This is so difficult to read, I can't imagine what it was like to be there actually doing the talking. My heart goes out to you and your boys, Oompa. I know it's so hard to be on the receiving end of JW shunning. I think what makes it so difficult is because, as you said, it's unnatural. Not only that, but it's being done to you because you used your FREE WILL (which JW's love to talk about... "god-given free will") to make the choice to move on from a destructive cult and find your OWN truth.
As always, we are all here for you whenever you need to vent.

White Dove, I can confirm the blue flame... This evening, bf and I went over to another couple's house for dinner and apparently while they were at work, some JW's dropped by and left a brochure on the little decoration rack on their front stoop...this is the same couple that I was talking about in another thread where the woman studied for a bit and went to meetings and then ran like hell. So I grabbed it up and brought it in and told her what it was... BF laughed, snatched it from my hands, and tore it in two...then he pulled out his lighter and lit it up. The flame was blue, but didn't last long. It snuffed itself out within a few seconds. Must be the ink and paper they use. We all know it can't be witchcraft .
