It's beautiful here, too. My guess is it's about 80F . Sunny, slight warm breeze... I'm going to do some cleaning around here and then probably tie the dog out and sit on the balcony and read.

Is the Librarian on the "Jehovah's Witnesses News, Library, History, Videos, Talks, Illustrations" Facebook site an apostate?
by serenitynow! ini've noticed that a lot of topics on his site seem to come from here, and the verbiage seems the same.
it's like he's taking stuff from here and posting it there.
one recent thing that was posted had to do with the confidential letter about the smaller mags, and boy did the jws ever bust his chops for revealing things before jehovah's time.. does the librarian post here?.

Someone asked "Didn't Jehovah kill the dinosaurs" in response to a comment about riding dinosaurs in paradise. Dumbasses.
serenity, I don't know if s/he's an apostate...Probably lurks here, I would guess...and steals info to post over there. But he/she posts the Daily Text and other JW stuff, so I think it's possible they just come here because, unlike JW's, we have the latest info LMAO.

This kind of thing restores my faith in humanity. Honestly, this shows a very large level of compassion. And to think... We believed at one time that these people would be destroyed, despite their love and compassion for the "less fortunate"...and the fact that they are actually carrying out the Biblical command to take care of animals. Huh.
I'm curious about what caused this pod of dolphins to beach themselves, though.

You know what we did during Memorial season when we had to go and hand out those ridiculous invitations and it was pouring? The elder who led our group handed out Ziploc bags and had us put an invitations in each one and leave the whole thing at the door!! "So it doesn't get wet while it waits for the householder".
Sorry you're stuck out in Field Circus in the rain. I definitely don't miss that... Rain, snow, extreme heat, allergy season... The Society KNOWS door-to-door doesn't work (which is evidence that they're lying to the masses when they say it's "still the most effective means of reaching sheeplike ones"). It's simply "busy work" so that the JW's have no life and don't have time to really research and question things. It also serves to solidify their teachings in the minds of those who are passing on their message. So it's dual-purpose. Notice that usually when someone starts researching or doubting, the first thing they tell them is to make sure they're doing "personal study" and get out in service more. It's all part of conditioning, controlling, and making sure no one questions anything. You can't question things if you don't have time for it and you're constantly being absorbed in talking about it, thinking about it, reading about it, etc.

Why?
by bushido8000 inso after 18 years (since the age of 5) i have converted from the jws to protastant christianity.
i have been biblically shown what i believe to be truths about the trinity, hell, and heaven (ideas that i debated against classical christians for many years) since i left the witnesses.
i read a lot of things on this site (as well as others) that really confuses me.

I can't say I ran straight from being a JW to being an Atheist. I started with my doubts in the Watchtower and their god. Then I researched the Bible itself. Then I started researching this theory of evolution thingy because I found out I didn't know as much about it as I thought I did (evolution DOESN'T teach that we came from monkeys?? Huh. Color me surprised!). A combination of thorough research in various subjects, combined with lack of personal one-on-one experience, led me to conclude that there is not enough evidence to support the idea that any god or creator exists. Am i open to being proven wrong by solid evidence that isn't based on personal experience of someone else? Absolutely! But, as of now, no such evidence exists...so I remain Atheist (well, Pagan Atheist).

Thanks, palm, I really enjoyed that read. It's something I've dealt with in the past with pretty much every male in my life (prior to my bf...he actually asks me to sit down and TALK about how I feel and is rational and understanding and LISTENS to my concerns...it's still a weird concept for me lol). My ex tried pulling this on me all the time...until I really did feel like I was just crazy, irrational, and an overall bad person...and wrote him to tell him so. He made me feel so badly about myself (as well as his family doing it) that I truly felt that I must be everything he said I was...so I told him he was right *facepalm*. Of course he saved and savoured that letter...and intends to use it to "prove" his case...that even I acknowledged I'm nuts. I'll be interested if this man does write a book...I think it would be a very great and enlightening read!

Do they realize how stupid they look?
by jam ina few years ago my aunt(my mom only living sibling).

I highly doubt they know how ludicrous they look to outsiders. This is their way of appearing righteous in their own eyes and giving themselves a good "encouraging experience" to share later on at the KH. Little do they realize that while they're trying to maintain their own "righteousness", they're giving a VERY bad witness to others who don't understand WHY they are behaving that way.
If I invited people to come and have such an expensive meal and then they decided to sit there and twiddle their thumbs and not eat what I've provided for them...well, they would have gotten the finger instead of a doggie bag! You eat what I've provided DURING the meal and then you can take leftovers home...that's fine. But refusal to eat because someone you disapprove of is sitting there and eating too? Yeah, you don't deserve to be able to take my food home.

What do you think about this?
by OneDayillBeFree inthere's so much going on in my life right now but i'll be posting more about that later.. .
to get straight to the point (i'm actually in the meeting right now) my mother has been very depressed about a lot of things lately.
she is a regular pioneer and is a jw who many think is happy but she's a good faker and knows all to well how to put on a fake smile to cover up her true feelings.

It seems to me that she's genuinely having doubts, but please know that this is NOT the time to "unleash the beast", so to speak. Don't bombard her with what you know about the org... In fact, the BEST thing you can do for her... IS LISTEN. She has no one to talk to about her feelings and doubts. Your dad would probably shit himself a brick if he knew she was even thinking the way she is (even something as innocent as encouraging you to go to college). So YOU be that person she can confide in. Be a support to her.
And yeah, start looking into colleges and planning your life AWAY from the JW's. That's the best thing you can do for yourself.

Approval of child baptism

Yeah they love to bash the Catholic church for baptizing babies because "they don't know what kind of commitment they're making". They've stated in the past that Jesus was 30 years old when he got baptized, and so this shows that the Catholics are wrong for pushing infant baptism. There's a reason that children under 18 aren't allowed to enter into contracts...because they aren't adults and fully cognizant of the commitment they're making. The same applies with baptism. All these kids know is "If I don't do this, I'll die at Armageddon" and "This is what Jehovah wants me to do"...and worse, "This is what is expected of me".
At a young age, these children set themselves up for failure by commiting themselves to remain in an organization that is always changing, stringent, and controlling...without even knowing who they are, who they will become, or how their feelings and thinking might evolve down the road. A 6 year old is not cognizant of the magnitude of such a decision... A 6 year old is still under the illusion that his or her JW parents will love and support them no matter what... But if they dare get DF'ed at, say, 10 years old...they lose real familial relationships, even though they aren't old enough to move out and be on their own, they're treated as an outcast in their own home. That's not something a child should have to endure.
