Bad Associations are the Best!!

so last saturday i had my first non-witness social event.

it wasn't anything big, a young couple who just recently moved into my apt bldg invited me over.

we met a couple days after they moved in and i helped them out as they got themselves locked out at 11 pm at night.

Seriously though, I went to my BFF's wedding (was maid of honor) and had an AMAZING time with WORLDLY people. It was the most fun I've ever had at a wedding and it wasn't even a religious ceremony and wasn't an expensive "showy display" (cause they're poor lol). It was just an all-around blast! No one got rowdy, no one got trashed, no wild orgies on the dance floor...we were just a bunch of people who love each other having fun (okay they DOES sound like an orgy...) ANYWAY...I've discovered in the last year that worldly people are a blast and YES they are different from JW's in that they aren't walking around judging every person they see and they aren't worried that God is going to smite them for watching an R-rated movie. They're NORMAL lol.

My brother got the flat top one year...my mom had a friggin' bird about it lol. My dad was like "WTF? it's a haircut!"...good ol' unbelieving dad lol.

I got some flack for cutting my hair short...and for the style I chose (kind of the Kate Gosselin/Rhianna look)...but only for a while. People eventually digressed that it looked good on me...much better than longer hair. Funny...more people commented on my hair than on my nose ring *shrug*

LOL that's adorable...I have pics of my oldest son in the exact same high chair...with spaghetti all over his face...he probably would have preferred chocolate lol

one of the things i really like about being out of the cult is that i no longer have to go to those long, boring district conventions.

instead, i can do other things with my new family (fiancee and soon to be step son).

we were out and about sunday, i had taken the day off from work, no point in bothering people with collections on a sunday and a holiday.. we had planned to go to a suburb of st. louis, mo (st. charles) and see some of the vendors on the riverfront in the afternoon and then wait for the fireworks in the evening .

They kind of give me the willies. I mean, I had one for the DC last month (my last...I'll never go again...and if I do, you all have permission to hunt me down and kick my ass) but I hardly wore it. I think I wore it the first day and that was it. I conveniently lost it in my bag lol. I mean, I understand they may serve a purpose when it comes to knowing who your "brothers and sisters" are by name and congregation, but the theme being PLASTERED on it is kind of ridiculous. All it is is free advertising for the cult. I don't think that's what Rutherford meant by "Advertise advertise advertise"...or maybe he did....

Me and my JW friend's first brithday experience

my friend's brithday was a few months ago.

due to some things that were going on at the time, he wasn't able to sneak out with me and celebrate it like i wanted to do with him.

it was delayed until tonight where we finally celebrated it.. i don't know how birthdays are suppose to be celebrated, especially when its just a 2 person party, but i tried my best.

That's awesome! Congrats on your semi-freedom! That's kind of where I am at...I have a BIG birthday coming up very soon. Thankfully, my best friend in the world is "in the world" lol...so we're doing something special (a haunted trolley ghost and graveyard tour!). Last year I went to my very first birthday party and it was for her daughter (she turned 2)...and this year I made the cake for her 3rd birthday. My BFF's birthday is less than a month after mine, so I'll be figuring out something cool for her, too. I celebrated New Years this year, I'll be celebrating Thanksgiving and Christmas with her family for the first time. I'm still fading...but getting closer and closer to getting gone with every meeting I miss.

Next year, dear Jerkhovah'sWitless, go all out and do something really special. But well done on your "first birthday"!

The DC was, in fact, held at the Mullins Center...I went...didn't wanna be there, but didn't really have a choice.

i don't pretend to understand what motivates my husband when it comes to his family.

he's completely fine ignoring, even hating mine, but his he's wishy washy.

(they have completely shunned me, but still try to be kind to him and our children, blaming me for tearing their poor family member away from jah).

It boggles my mind how some men are like yo-yo's with their own family. My ex's family disrespected me for YEARS, they still do even though we're no longer married and he has married someone else! And yeah...the lot of them are JW!

on fb yesterday, an old friend of mine 'friended' me....and once again, i was hesitant to actually accept because i didn't know how she would feel about me being df'd.

but i accepted, and she sent me a msg.

well we ended up talking back and forth for awhile, and found out that she lives right around the corner from me!!!!!!!!!!

Ya know, so much goes on in that "back room" that the R&F have no idea about unless they've been there, done that. The ones that toe the line and don't make waves never really see what happens before a DF'ing. They just assume "Well, they weren't repentant, so they got what they deserve". Not always the case. In my brother's case, he had been smoking and got caught, but he also had had sex with his girlfriend, whom he planned on marrying. His friend (the "golden child" of a couple that were both JW, whereas my brother and I were raised with an unbelieving father) had commited the same "sin" but threw my brother under the bus in order to save his own slimy arse and was given a private reproof. When the elders asked my brother "Are you going to have sex with her again?", my brother replied "Well, yeah we're gonna get married, so I assume that after that we'll be having sex"...and he got DF'ed for being unrepentant. Along with that, his best friend (also the child of an unbelieving father...noticing a pattern here??) was DF'ed the year before and his mom had died. My brother asked the elders specifically if he could talk to his friend at the funeral, considering the circumstances. The elders okayed it, but after the fact, they brought it up in his JC and used it as yet another reason to DF him.

My own JC's were presided over "fairly", I would say. But I have heard so many horror stories of people who were innocent or were sincerely repentant and got DF'ed anyway.

I humbly beg to differ. Human sexuality is an inborn trait. Just as a heterosexual cannot help being heterosexual, a homosexual cannot help being homosexual. You cannot CHOOSE to be heterosexual and you cannot CHOOSE to be homosexual.
