I grew up a JW and had dogs as well. Now I'll settle for my little rodent friends. They're just as loving and loyal as a dog, just as interactive and fun, and just as lovey and cuddly...but I don't have to constantly take them out to poop, they wash themselves, and my apartment complex doesn't require a monthly fee and deposit for them lol.

I've described myself as agnostic/Atheist for some time now. I don't believe in "a" god as much as I believe that "all things are god". I don't believe in some invisible sky daddy that I have to worship in order to keep from pissing him off. But I do believe in a "force" (not really Star Wars-ish, but scientific) or energy that is in everything. I think eventually, it will all be explained in a scientific manner.

Do they announce when a pioneer steps down at your hall?
by Evidently Apostate induring the announcements they stop to bring up an elder and he states " hairy mary is no longer a pioneer" (not a real name) in a tone very similar to a disfellowshipping.
i have heard it twice now but only from the hall my wife attends now.. anyone else hear of this?.

I always thought that rule about not being alone with the opposite sex unless you were married to them to be ridiculous. I mean, we had our share of slutty sisters in the congregations, but the vast majority were tight-laced and wouldn't dream of doing something lewd with a brother.
What pisses me off is that they take this rule and apply it to EVERY area of life. So, while I am happy and content with my bf and wouldn't DREAM of EVER wanting my ex back, I must speak to his WIFE about my children and not him because it's "inappropriate for us to be talking to each other now because we are no longer married and he is a married man and (as far as he knows) I'm a single woman and it goes against Jehovah's arrangement"... Oh, you mean the arrangement set up by all those old codgers in Brooklyn who have probably never had a blow job in their lives and think that every man and every woman is just DYING to have sex with each other??

did it seem like a reality to you or was it sort of too out there to really comprehend, much like paradise and living forever is or even the concept of god having always existed ?.
i remember a sister in our congregation whose husband was unbelieving and the marriage was really bad.

this was always a waist of time on xmas day, but you know what we always has a full turkey dinner after getting back from the door knocking.. i live in the uk at the moment but will soon move to alberta in canada, what did your jw family do on xmas day did you have family over etc... .

Yes, they announced it in the congregations I went to. And it was in that somber "no longer one of Jehovah's Witnesses" tone. Like not Pioneering anymore was signing your own death sentence at the Big A. What a crock of horse puckey.

I must say, they are nothing like what I have read them to be here on the website.
The vast majority of us here were, at one point, either baptized or associate with Jehovah's Witnesses in some form. I assure you, if anyone knows the ins and outs of the organization and the TRUTH behind the fake smiles and false sincerity, it's US!
The majority of the JW's teachings aren't Bible based, they take Jesus out of the equation and replace him with the Governing Body, which is NOT a Biblical institution. People die every day from refusing blood transfusions because they are brainwashed into believing that it's against God's commands. A world full of JWs?? NO THANK YOU! I'd rather die first.
