church officials hushed up a child sex scandal in their ranks and refused to co-operate with police.. .
jehovah witness ministerial servant gordon leighton admitted sexually abusing a child when he was confronted by his church elders, a court heard.. but during the official police investigation, the 53-year-old who made headlines in the 1990s when wife yvonne, 28, died after refusing a blood transfusion after childbirth on religious grounds denied any illegal wrongdoing.. and when detectives asked elders simon preyser, harry logan and david scott to make statements about the confession, all three refused and said what they had heard was confidential.. for three years, the elders refused to co-operate with the criminal investigation and kept up that stance when the case was brought before newcastle crown court after the victim made a complaint to police.. each was issued with a witness summons which they fought to overturn before being ordered to testify by judge penny moreland citing public interest.. their barrister richard daniels said the men had a duty to god not to breach confidence.. he added: privileged communication between members of the congregation and ministers is an absolute right and duty and there is no power in law to breach such a confidence.. judge moreland said: it is apparent that the three elders who were present when this conversation took place are in possession of relevant evidence as to a point which is of real significance in this case.. they claim the right of confidentiality, they claim that what they heard said by the defendant during the course of that meeting ought to be subject to privilege, as ministers of religion.. judge moreland refused to withdraw the summonses and said: public interest is clearly in favour of this evidence being given.. what was said by the defendant on that occasion is of great significance in the trial.. despite the judges ruling, the men still refused to make statements to police until just hours before they were called before the jury.. leighton, who has since been expelled from the church at lambton kingdom hall in washington, denied two charges of indecency with a child and seven of indecent assault.. he was yesterday found guilty of two charges of indecency with a child and six of indecent assault.
he was found not guilty of one indecent assault charge, on the direction of the judge.. he was remanded in custody until he is sentenced next month but warned he is facing a lengthy spell behind bars.. prosecutor katherine dunn told the court the victim, who is now an adult, broke her silence in 2009.. the court heard how at a special church meeting, leighton admitted sexual abuse and made excuses for his behaviour.. miss dunn said: the elders conducted their own investigation.

when i was a kid, i researched the origins of the religion and realized that the witnesses were an offshoot of adventism.....we're you surprised to learn something about the witnesses that you didn't realize?.
I was shocked to learn that : All those years that I took Book Studies in the "Revelation Book" denouncing the U N as the "Scarlet Coloured Beast", they were affilliated to it as an NGO. They miss-quoted the sources of background material in the WT Lit. They massaged their dubious past writings and miss-quoted their own books to make it look better.

Ways to go Lol, what would happen if we take the Watchtower to court with all those evidences? Their attys may say the following
"All their apostates evidences are nothing but just mischievous allegations for which there is not a shred of evidence".

Yes, not only surprised but also profoundly shocked as well. The Watchtower's criminal practice of stalking those who do not want to be part of it. In addition, the highly secretive nature of this organisation was very troubling as well as the sheltering and grooming of pedophiles within the organistion was very sickening.

does anyone know how to contact cynthia franz to ask if she can inquire about publishing raymond franz's books in ebooks/digital formats?
if raymond franz's books were in digital formats for sale, it could help cyhthia franz to live a little bit better and could also help more jws.. a quick check of www.amazon.com http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_i_1_13?url=search-alias%3daps&field-keywords=crisis%20of%20conscience%20raymond%20franz&sprefix=crisis+of+con%2caps%2c211 suggests that raymond franz's books are in paper editions only.
in the thread coc request, tech49 wanted to obtain a digital copy of "crisis of conscience" so that he could read it without drawing suspicion to himself, but could not locate a digital version of it.
The above link provide answer to this thread just a thought.

"What a happy prospect! Though mistaken, they eagerly shared it with others". So they claim to have been mistaken. Who was mistaking or guiding them then? And what about now?

i thought it was fitting for me to share my freedom from the witnesses story on independence day weekend.. i dont have any secret info, just experiences that happened to me and started to open my eyes.. i was a third generation, raised in the truth kid who was never supposed to be born, and then never supposed to graduate high school.
ive now been out of high school longer than i was in school.. the beginning of the end started a little less than a decade ago.
i was late 20s at the time.
The CO lost my respect at that point because he was so unreasonable. He also condemned those in the hall who had seat warmers in their car as being too soft and enjoying the finer things in life. Well, when he retired and had to get his own car, he had a car that had seat warmers in it. Well, I hope he enjoys them.

the drama continues, i log on to facebook this morning and notice that i have about 20 some odd personal messages from people calling me an apostate to they will return to me when i return to jehovah.. all of this based upon my brother informing others that i have "apostate thoughts".
my mother also encourage long-time famil friends to "unfriend" me because i have taken my stand on the side of satan... wow.
don't you just love this international brotherhood.
Soso,
The Wathtower is a negative enabler in this instance. Its behaviors are like that of gangs. I think, you are better off now than when you were still within. Those so called JW friends are fake.

mr forum owner is there a way to keep members informed that it is best practice to fully spell out.
certain key words in thread topics so as to optimize the power of this forum as far as google search code .. the longevity and powerful search position this site has earned can effect many more people worldwide.
if the key phrases are spelled out as opposed to abreviated .. .
"I hope to improve and automate this to some extent (probably to making a suggestions where the topic should go) but a human should always do a better job"

I think, this is simple as that. Just set up a confimation box for a every new topic, before being posted, the sender must click on it to confirm with a quesion. e.g
Is this topic you are about to post match the designated section?
If yes, all is set. If no, then no ability to post until appropriate section is selected. This option can only be limited to new topic being created not regular responses to a topic already set up.

in fact, it would seem that christianity was from the very beginning catholic... hmmmmm, how they fail when it comes to history.... .
"the earliest evidence of the use of the term catholic church is the letter to the smyrnaeans that ignatius of antioch wrote in about 107 to christians in smyrna.
exhorting christians to remain closely united with their bishop, he wrote: "wherever the bishop shall appear, there let the multitude [of the people] also be; even as, wherever jesus christ is, there is the catholic church.
This thread makes me proud of my catholic heritage. Its my biggest mistake to join the Watchtower society of Jehovah's witnesses.
