  For the WTS does the 'Ends justify the Means'?

  i really think they feel it does.

  they are soooo focused on 'spreading the good news' that anything they feel furthers that, whether it is true and accurate or not is totally justified.

  how do you argue with that?

  I really think they feel it does. They are soooo focused on 'spreading the good news' that ANYTHING they feel furthers that, whether it is true and accurate or not is totally justified. How do you argue with that? They obviously don't know when armageddon is coming, but they feel justified in saying it is VERY soon, just around the corner, you won't graduate High School ect. if it keeps people going to the meetings and out in service then they feel they have done the right thing.

  If you want to counter the org. you need to look at the underlying mentality and motivation. I think for the majority GB and higher ups they truly believe in the righteousness of their CAUSE and the blessing of their god in furthering the CAUSE to the exclusion of all else.

  I will illustrate. Come be my follower page 86 para 21.

  "We can make the Christian ministry the primary focus of our life. Even though we may have family and secular obligations, we can show that our ministry comes first by having a zealous, regular share in it, as Jesus did."

  Field service before everything, family, work, even the factual truth.

  Question about the JW Hurricane Katrina "Relief"

  it was relayed to me by a friend that in order for jw's to get "help" from other jw's, that they needed to fill out a form (to make sure that they were jw's) and answer questions concerning how active they are and meeting attendance.

  if the meeting attendance was low or if they were "inactive", then they weren't going to be taken in or helped.

  in the situation that was relayed to me, a jw woman with a couple of teenaged girls was asking for help.

  Without some proof in writing, this so called form and selection process is still merely hearsay. Its all about credibility. A lot here take issue with the WTBTS because they have lost credibility. That goes the other way too. In fact the WTBTS actively tries to discredit any who speak against it. Doubters and lurkers are coming here in droves but can easily be scared away by uncredible claims and information. Let's be smart. Ok. Done preaching.

  Aren't "Anointed" and "Faithful and discreet slave" totally interchangeable? To my knowledge, the GB have never claimed to have more holy spirit or greater insight than other anointed, they just say they represent the anointed/F&DS. And of course all the GB are also anointed. So when they say the anointed don't have any more insight than members of the great crowd, doesn't that HAVE to apply to them as well? I'm approaching this from the point of view of reasoning with someone who believes everything in the Watchtower/publications is absolute truth.

  If you are put on the spot, or even in casual conversation if asked if the F&DS, anointed, Gov. body ect. make mistakes, have holy spirit, are spirit directed ect. you can say "In as much as you or I are directed by holy spirit, yes." or "No more than you or I are." If they take exception to that, that the Gov body always knows better than we do direct them to this article. It states and I quote

  "They do not believe that their being anointed gives them special insights beyond what even some experienced members of the "great crowd" may have. They do not believe that they necessarily have more holy spirit than their companions of the "other sheep" have."

  How can someone be the channel of communication from God if they don't have any more insight than anyone else?

  Clearly the GB want to have their cake and eat it too.

  I don't think they can drop Friday. If they do, then it is the same as a circuit assembly and people are less likely to view it as a big deal, drive across the state or whatever, spend money on a motel ect. ofo

  I totally believed it. got baptized in the late Franz years when generation and all that was still possible. That was the main reason. Not dying at the big A. When your taught it your whole life...well, it becomes your reality.

  pretty interesting read so far, though i'm only about 90 pages into it.

  it's about a man who is arrested, but no one will tell him what he's been charged with, or give him any information at all.

  right now at bethel, they are laying off and reassigning again.

  if you have cancer or some other illness, you are a liability and it's time to pack.

  i remember the night when we had the special talk about there being a great need in the field and some would be sent out.

  You have my sympathies definately. I am just waking up to a lifetime of decisions based on fabrications that I could never allow myself to realize till now. I can't imagine the hurt, anger, fear, uncertainty you are feeling. We know you are a victim in the same way 99.9% of the rest of the JW's are. The only ones I don't feel sorry for are the ones that know its crap and stay in to further benefit themselves. Gary's attitude is very much in the minority here.
