the new brochure, learn from god and live forever", is a new low for the watchtower society in descending into illiteracy and ignorance.

it dips lower than the old "enjoy life" brochure.

it is hard for me to imagine what the thinking behind this work is, when the intended reading level is so profoundly abysmal.

i've noticed on my brief time on these forums that there seems to be quite a few that have serious doubts about the org or know of all the lies etc of it but still go to meetings or even still serve as a ms or elder.. i'm just curious as to why you still bother going?

no offense meant here...i'm not being all judgemental like typical jws but am curious.

i'm guessing a lot of it is down to not wanting to break up the family or losing relatives etc.

Leaving usually comes with a price. Some are willing to pay and some aren't. It's important to be realistic about the people in your life and how they will respond if you quit. You can always be mentally free...no one can take that from you and no one has to know. That's what many love about being on this site, we can reveal our true mental outlook without consequences.

The smartest thing many well respected posters have said is HAVE A PLAN. I believe that wholeheartedly.

Once you take even the smallest step in revealing your true thoughts to a spouse, friend ect. it can't be taken back. If you do and they react poorly you will then be playing the super witness for a while to ally their disproportionate paranoid response.

If you don't mind me calling on scripture...count the cost.

as we all know, those who have for the last century heard & rejected your message have been labeled as "goats" deserving of everlasting destruction.

approximately 5 generations of humans who heard your message have been killed off by you.

on the other hand, those who didn't hear fall into the "unrighteous" catagorie & can expect a resurrection.

let's call it a very ugly version of "joseph and the amazing technicolor dreamcoat" recreated as a musicless "a young life serving god ain't worth living.".

it included a highly fictionalized account of joseph being abused by his brothers for serving god and being loved by jacob.

there was no mention of joseph's dreams that degraded his brothers and father.

This drama is so pathetic in displaying there is no trust at all in such a 'brotherhood'. No one can be believed or trusted, there is no personal dignity or honor. Everyone in the congregation, especially the younger ones are always guilty until proven innocent. Ridiculous.

Strategizing against the WTBTS

could we be doing more brothers and sisters?

i'm sure i'm not alone in wishing that there was more we could do to hasten the demise of the wtbts and to speed up the exodus of it's members.

and i'm sure i'm not alone in thinking of possible ways to do this.. one which i have been considering lately is to make use of the fact that many who leave the organization actually leave the area, move away, and start a new life.

The total anonymity this site provides, and the internet in general is still the greatest tool. People(self included) are scared to death of getting caught trying to get a viewpoint other than the WTS. I have thought of going to the library, creating a gmail account, and sending links to this site, jwfacts, barb anderson ect to the addresses of witnesses i know, then never using that e-mail account ever again. Totally untraceable. But...the problem with that is it can very often have the opposite effect you want...it just heightens their persecution complex and make them more paranoid about 'apostate' influences, especially in light of recent articles and convention talks. Extreme subtlely is required.

In the interest of accuracy, i would also like to see this 'retraction'. From what i can tell, the society has done just the opposite, in the 2011 yearbook pg 10 they said they researched the hell out of the spidersilk/jumbojet and confirmed it is accurate...yaay for them ect. Promotion of inaccurate info about the JW's is the worst thing we could do as it confirms pre-conceptions of newbies checking this site out. Don't get me wrong, i'm not an apologist...just interested in taking back the definition of the word 'Truth'.

Righteously Poisoning the Watchtower Well (Action Plan 3)

righteously "poisoning the well" of watchtower (wt) - nowadays this is a metaphorical expression.

don't take it literally; no violence, no persecution, no stigmatizing.. most are not aware but they have been using this in one form or another.

but using this on wt is difficult because wt is so strong, organized and effective that metaphorically only "spattered poison" reaches the well which by now starts to taste bitter.. for it to be righteous, it has to be truthful, no matter how scandalous.

How to deal with "Whoe other than JW are preching today?"

my bil (active dub) has begun to ask me why we are not "active" anymore.

after a few careful (non-dfing) comments and observations he asks "well who other than jw's are preaching the good news in fullfillment of matt 24:14?

i responded with the comment that billions of christ's followers worldwide, down through history for over 19 centuries have been selfless in preaching globally.

This is the basic fall back position for most witnesses. It goes along with "where else would we go" line. When these get pulled out it's time to back off as it is a clear sign the autonomic defenses are kicking in and the apostate radar is in full swing. If you are in and undercover then tread carefully.
