I ended my bible study today
by still thinking ini have officially stopped my bible study today.
i have been trying to for weeks (after 10 years of on/off studying).
it got to the stage where i was asking too many of those questions that made everyone feel uncomfortable.

I agree with Loz - get different versions.
Definately get The Message Bible - very comforting.

(((( still thinking ))))
I often use this site as a springboard for my own bible/spiritual research.
I love reading what others have researched, then I try to answer my own questions before I ask others (here) to do the research for me.
Have you tried the SEARCH function here? I use it alot. Some of the links others have found helpful are GREAT!
I prefer to not post on the debates, although I read them ALL!!
I wish you all the best in your spiritual journey!!
Palm
PS I think you're going to be fine......** smile **

I Guess I Don't Matter
by headisspinning ini'm pretty upset.
my sister just asked me if my ex bothered to mention that both of my kids were announced as publishers last thursday night.. nobody said a word to me.. i just called my ex and told him that i was pretty furious - at least he apologized which i have to say, i have heard the words 'i'm sorry' from him about 5 times in the 14 years we we married.. anyway, i'm sad.
the kids didn't even bother to tell me... i would like to think that means it's not important to them... but with a sinking feeling i think that i'm what doesn't matter..

I'll give you a little "heads-up" that I wish someone had given me when my kids were teens:
Around ages 14-whatever, they really start pulling away from you.
DO NOT TAKE IT PERSONALLY!!!
They want to hang out with freinds, they don't want to hang out with you anymore. The world is a big wonderful place to them and they wanna see it all - WITHOUT YOU.
Like Poopsie said, just make sure your contact with them is always positive and upbeat. Be the "ROCK" they can swim to when they think their world is falling apart and then.............let them go again.
Eventually, they come back to you.
Trust me.
My kids are 18 and 24 now, and they tell me alot of what's going on in their lives and they tell me looooooong before (and IF) they ever tell their JW dad. They both say they can't talk to him.

I said this on the "drunken gibberish" thread, but I'll say it here, too....
I highly doubt your 14 year old really wants to be a publisher.
I've raised 2 kids. Believe me. I know. (They are both out with me.)

Watchtower - simple doctrine for simple people
by jwfacts ini know there are some intelligent witnesses that really research their beliefs, but the more i learn, the simpler and more ignorant watchtower doctrine appears.
that opinion is certainly not helped by some of the apologists that appear on this site.
most watchtower doctrine is a product of the black and white syndrome, where all the obvious shades of grey in between are simply ignored with statements such as "wait on jehovah".

The blinders came off my eyes many years before I actually left, when I realized that it didn't matter what I did or how I lived my life.
All that mattered was how well I would stand up under physical torture at Armageddon.
Not a "happifying" realization, believe me.

Sincerest apologies from Terra Incognita
by Terra Incognita inmy sincerest apologies to anyone and everyone on this forum who read my first two threads.. i guess i started posting at a bad time in my life.
not too thoughtful of me but not insincere.
i have always been a little lacking in the social graces department partly because of my jw upbringing.

Here's one I'd rather forget, but I hope it makes you feel better and you'll realize we have all done stupid things here at one time or another. And it's no big deal.
