Maybe do what I do with telemarketers:
Say, "Could you hold on a minute?" Put the phone down (Or close the door).
Then continue doing whatever you are doing.
When you come back, they're gone!!

My Assignment For Ray Franz
by sacolton intoday i met the widow of ed dunlap, who was of the watchtower writing committee and a great thinker.
he found that the watchtower was not in harmony with the scriptures, so they disfellowshipped him.
when ray franz was disfellowshipped, it was ed who took him in and gave ray a job and a place to stay.

two witness ruling ?
by KAYTEE inif a paedophile commits a crime against a junior there has to be, according to the watchtower two witnesses for action to be taken.. if one party of a marriage commits adultery, does there have to be the same, (two witnesses) before action is taken?.
if not........................ kt.

I think the problem is their interpretation of what consistutes a "witness" to something.
Circumstantial evidence or forensic evidence can speak louder than words, yet is not accepted as being a "witness".
And in the case of child abuse, common sense should prevail, since very rare is anyone but the child a witness to that. There are other Bible principles that should OVER-RIDE the 2-witness rule in certain cases. (Like child sexual abuse.)

Well said, Tex :
Nothing changes because they don't want things changed. The 2-witness rule will never change 'cus "it's in the Bible".

As I said before, my situation was not a sexual crime, but the "2 witness rule" totally screwed me over. Spike, you are wrong about this having changed in the org.
When I finally went to the police about my case, it was after YEARS of having the elders ignore what was going on, and basically telling me to suck it up. They did nothing for me, and I was not allowed to speak of what was going on with anyone. They refused to accept any info from the police that would confirm anything I was telling them. They just wanted me to SHUT UP about it.
After I went to the police, there was much debate in the city amongst the elders about WHETHER I SHOULD HAVE GONE AT ALL!!
BTW, when the police had enough evidence to lay charges, SUDDENLY the elders were agreeable to meeting with all parties. One sister was forced to apologize to me, and I was forced to accept it (even tho I knew she was only doing it to get off the hook congregation-wise) and I was coerced into dropping the charges, with promises that things would be different now that she had been caught.
BIG SURPRISE - nothing changed!! she continued to slander and bad-mouth me to everyone with impunity. She got caught a few more times bad-mouthing me and guess what????
AGAIN, NOTHING WAS DONE ABOUT IT!!!
Stupidest thing I ever did in my entire life - drop those charges against that bitch.

Radical Civility--Can Rudeness Ever Be Polite?
by VIII incan rudeness ever be polite?
(the answer is no).
as for the bad news, my lovely wife and i witnessed something that shows how those who demand civility risk committing the worst sort of incivility.

Very good thought-provoking article.
How should rudeness be handled, then? Any suggestions?
I don't agree that it should always be ignored.

SPIKE!!
Your baptism was nullified?????? Never have I heard of this. I am interested in your story. The last I read in the mags about nullifying a baptism was that it was REALLY frowned upon. But I think the article was focussing on ones who later felt they were baptised too young and were wondering if they should get re-baptised.
Anyhow, I'm not doubting your story, just hoping to understand it.
