Ada: "He only beat me that way one time"
Gives me chills to read that. I used to say the same thing. Why do we think it's okay if it's "only one time"?
Even that one time teaches you your place and your worth.
i apologize if this has been mentioned, but i don't have the time to come on here as often.
yesterday's bookstudy on divorce got my shorts in a bit of a knot.
apparently, according to the god's love book, a wife could consider legal separation from her husband if she is physically abused, but (get this) only in the case of extreme physical abuse, and if the wife's life is in danger.

Yuppers!!
I've never lived in a place where I had to reset my clocks until now. My man looks after me, thank goodness and reset them all before bed last night, bless his furry heart.
Morning, Snap!!
first internet message sent.
appropriately, the system crashed.
i wonder if any of us even noticed.
I noticed. I was almost 2 and it made me pee my pants.
Hahaha!
in a recent survey carried out for a leading toiletries firm (brut), people.
from detroit and chicago have proved to be the most likely to have had sex.
in the shower!.
Frankiespeakin: "hey any way you want to slice it, it's all good."
LOL That reminds me of something I heard once - Sex is like pizza. When it's good, it's really really good. When it's bad, it's still pretty good.
i have been looking at this website for about 2 months now and feel i am now ready to say hi and intoduce myself.i dont want to give out too much info at this point in time as i still am in the org, but have only been to 2 meetings since the district convention in august and last time i went out on service was in march.
i was basically raised in the truth as my parents became jw when i was 2. i was married in my late teens and after 21 years of being married to a total control freak he left me (yay).
anyway since me ex left, i had been doing a lot of thinking about being a witness, and i wasnt really going to a lot of meetings - just didnt feel like it.
Hello! from,
i was just reading an article about how what we think and believe affects our self-esteem and well-being.
the first step is understanding the types of thinking that can hold you back.. twisted thoughts.
1. overgeneralization: we take a one-time occurence and make it the rule of thumb.. 2. blame game: we blame ourselves when we could not possibly bear responsibility.. 3. black & white thinking: we interpret everything as an absolute, with no shades of gray.. backward beliefs.
Sorry, I've been thinking about this topic all day and I guess it interested me because it seems that all 5 of those types of thinking listed there are such an integral part of the JW religion.
The blame and guilt is heaped on you at every meeting. And they definately see NO shades of gray. The striving for perfection and the fears - of worldly people, of the internet, of bad association, of working secularly too much (or not enough).........
It makes my head spin. No wonder I was so unhappy for so many years.
we have read threads where statistics show that 2 out of every 3 people raised as jehovah's witnesses eventually leave once they get in their 20's to 30's and out on their own.
my children and my nieces and nephews are between the ages of 21 to 35 .
out of those 8 people - 4 of them have completely stopped attending meetings .
From what I saw in the last 5-10 years:
While there were a few "uber-witness" kids, the majority of them really don't take it seriously. They attend just to keep mommy and daddy off their back and to hang out with their friends.
Most of the kids are no different than kids in the "world" - they drink, smoke (cigs and weed), party, wish each other happy birthday, hang out with their df'ed friends, everything.
The adults either don't know or are in some kind of "My-child-is-perfect-la-la-land."
Every time a young person was df'ed the parents whined about how they didn't understand how it could happen. Excuse me......but EVERYONE else heard about Little Johnny's antics for years......Wake up.
i'm trying to gather data on ex-jws to analyze for a statistics class.
i'd appreciate it if you'd click the link and take my short survey.
it's only 7 questions and is anonymous.. .
Stick a fork in me.
I'm done, too.

TWISTED THOUGHTS
1. OVERGENERALIZATION: We take a one-time occurence and make it the rule of thumb.
2. BLAME GAME: We blame ourselves when we could not possibly bear responsibility.
3. BLACK & WHITE THINKING: We interpret everything as an absolute, with no shades of gray.
BACKWARD BELIEFS
1. PERFECTIONISM: We must always perform at peak level and never make a mistake.
2. UNFOUNDED FEARS: We are afraid without good reason of certain people, places, situations or scenarios.
To counteract this, we have to first re-think: Identify how the thought or belief is not based in fact. Revise the thought or belief to be a more accurate reflection of reality. Determine what action, if any, might be taken to improve your situation. Write a more positive affirmation on an index card and refer to it regularly. Seek out and accept honest feedback. Surround yourself with people who can help you reprogram your thought.
The more what you think and believe is aligned with genuine reality, the more balanced and healthy your life can be.
I admit to having a terrible "lead foot".
I'm not in a hurry and I'm not angry.
I just like to go fast.
