on this forum, i have carefully read most of the experiences of those who left the jw religion, i have even read experiences that have dated back to 2001, i have read the different circumstances surrounding their exits and what ensued upon leaving.
for the majority, i observed they are better remainning in the religion than leaving.
what benefit is there to strain family relationship because you want to be free?, please tell me, of what value is that freedom?,.

Does it mean they are unhappy or regret leaving?
No, it just means they need to vent sometimes to people who understand.
Is my life perfect since I left? No. And I don't expect it to be.
Am I happier since I left? Absolutely.

Multiply that beating by about 10 and extend it for another 20 mins. That's what I lived through a couple of times a week for 17 years.
My parents would line all 5 of us up, arms out, and Dad would swing that belt on our hands\arms until I thought he was going to kill one of us.
I often had broken blood vessels on my arms, and the backs of my legs.
At some point, each of us kids went to the elders about it. I remember one elder sitting in our living room and telling my Dad that he had the right to do whatever he felt was necessary to keep CONTROL in his house. Thanks for all your help, Terry Smith, Sr.

it used to for me, and now it doesn't.. i'm not sure how i was able to accept that argument now that i don't, but perhaps it was connected with my increasing compassion for people and their personal suffering as i've grown older.. now it seems like a sick excuse.
more like a bar-bet with satan and all of creation suffers.. i read paul's words and he has no rejoiner except to say in effect "sucks to be a vessel of wrath...glad i'm not one, but who are you to complain anyway, huh?

still my girl.
i had not seen them in my neighborhood in at least 4 years.
i ddn't go to the door.
i avoid them when at all possible.
They've been to my place twice in the last 3 years - once to tell us they were disfellowshipping us and once on a Saturday morning, which I think was an accidental visit.
The Mormons are here at least 3X a year and I see them everywhere.
