No Resurrection for Fluffy!
by cameo-d inone of the meanest stories put forth by watchtower psychos is telling children that their beloved pets will never come back resurrected.. not only must the child deal with the trauma of confronting death, the grief of losing a love, and the inability to reason why this happens.... but adults offer no real words of comfort and instead cause more psychological trauma by telling the kid that they can have a pet lion instead.. poor kid doesn't want a pet lion.
he wants fluffy back.
what kind of psych-ops crap is this?

Aug. 15th WT- "Jehovah Only Loves Those Who Obey the Governing Body "
by flipper inonce again our lurking jw friend sent us this latest mind control drivel from the " witness only " watchtower.
remember - this is the information our jw relatives will study in their witness meetings at their watchtower study.
this is what they are currently being indoctrinated with.

It's very sad that the only way they can preserve their "unity at all costs" is by instilling fear.

Theocratic parental horror stories
by vikesgirl101 inso i am reading my new favorite book "i'm perfect, you're doomed" and the flashbacks have started.
this book is like my childhood all over again.
anywho, it reminded me of the horror stories my parents would create.

TJ...just read your life story. That was the saddest, most angering, and then most inspiring personal account of escaping religion and abuse that I've ever read. Thank you.

I've seen the movie and read the book by Robert Harris. I think it was wonderfully made, but I am always biased toward the book when faced with a movie adaptation. I don't think you will regret either choice. The movie starts out like a Law and Order episode, whodunit and why, then moves into March discovering his happy, regimented life is built upon lies. Charlie is sexy and she brings a lot of fire to the movie with her wit and journalist determination to get the truth, even risking her death.

but i have been overweight most of the past two decades.

Sounds like what I'm doing, except without the $24,000 surgery and the stomach the size of a ping pong ball. The dietary outline you gave sounds very much like what the dieticians outlined for me after my gastric bypass. It's actually good, I don't miss the sugar or the carbs (I can have sugar free just about anything). Not to mention the fact that one month from surgery I'm still only eating 2 ounces of food per meal, three times per day. But I'm not complaining, I'm 40lbs. lighter already.
Best of luck to you with your lifestyle change! It feels good to change. :)

Went from the Witnesses to Wicca back to Christianity but I haven't officially joined the church I'm attending. I am too scared of belonging to something that won't let me go.

At best they are strong advocates for animal rights, environmental conservation and anti-cruelty.
At worst, they are annoying extremists who make me want to butcher my own cow and eat it raw just to shut them up.

Someone from another board told me that in some places in Europe, Child Welfare steps in when a child needs a transfusion and overrides the parent's wishes in court so that they can give the child a transfusion. I wish this was also possible here in the U.S. Anyone know of any cases where it has been done this way in the States?

How many visit here that are non-members? (lurkers)...we have many newbies
by oompa inis there a way to know in any given period of time, like a month or year, how many visit jwd/jwn that are non-members.
so many of the newbies mention they have been "long time lookers"...... that i am now curious.
i can understand why early doubting dubs are prob scared to death at first, since any non-jw material is so taboo...they prob just take a quick peek....then another....then really start reading and looking back on on threads..............oomps.
