JW tour bus crashes in Florida, with fatalities-
by moshe inmiami - a bus carrying 32 members of a church group hit a concrete overpass at miami international airport after the driver got lost, killing two elderly people on board and leaving three others critically injured, officials said saturday.. the large, white bus was too tall for the 8-foot-6-inch entrance to the arrivals area, said airport spokesman greg chin.
buses are supposed to go through the departures area, which has a higher ceiling, he said.. chin said the passengers told him they were part of a group of jehovah's witnesses headed to west palm beach.
police said in a news release that the group had chartered the bus to take them to a church convention there-.

"Praying" for the families - if not in an officially-sanctioned setting - would be considered "running ahead" at the very least.
They would probably also be afraid that you'd be praying to the "wrong" god - a "pagan" god of "Christendom" - or if you've 'faded' or have been disfellowshipped or disassociated, whatever "satanic" version that "apostates" pray to...

For the GB, it's all about attention!
by NoRegrets inso this is probably not a big revelation for anyone, but a little for myself.
or at least a sum up of why the jws still cling to many of their beliefs and practices are to gain them notoriety and attention.
so many of the non-witness friends i have now remember the jw kids they grew up with only because they weren't allowed to celebrate the holidays.

One could argue - fairly successfully - that Rutherford's heinous actions in tossing the German Jehovah's Witnesses to Hitler's war machine was another act coldly calculated to draw attention - and sympathy - with absolutely no concern for the individual JWs involved.
As was the Watchtower Society's later actions in locking Malawiian JWs into a lose/lose situation that set them up to be victims of "persecution".
Another example has been their past inflexibility regarding alternative military service. During the Vietnam War, many, many young brothers had to go to prison [I knew one personally] instead of being able to accept non-combatant alternatives. At the same time, the Mexican brothers were allowed to bribe officials to avoid military service.
I strongly suspect that the U.S. JWs were again thrown to the wolves because THEY had higher visibility.

Are the familes going to receive financial support from Watchtower headquarters, instead of collections taken up by fellow JWs?
Are they exempted from attending the rest of the assembly?

two years after rome, yesterday december 1st, day by day, we were about 100 of us demonstrating on a public square in the center of milan, italy.. .
at about 10-11 a.m. many of us were already on the spot, installing our gazebo on the public square where we were granted authorization by the police and starting the distribution of about 4000 tracts to passersby in the surrounding squares, boulevards and streets exposing the watchtower for its teachings and instructions on discriminating those who decide to use their rights to walk away from this religious movement without to have to incur the ostracism imposed by the leadership.

It was probably much more effective being directed at the general public...

Just Sharing: I Visited Chuck Taze Russells Gravesite
by daringhart13 injust nothing more than a 'share'..... i was in pittsburgh on business and took a day off and paid a visit to russells grave.. i haven't stopped laughing since.
i'm worried i'm going to break ribs.. had i seen this as a young kid/adult.....i surely would have thought "wtf???".
folks...if you ever needed confirmation this whole thing is a laughable cult......make your way to pittsburgh and see chuck's resting spot.......its worth it just get pictures with his pyramid.. lol.
