  miami - a bus carrying 32 members of a church group hit a concrete overpass at miami international airport after the driver got lost, killing two elderly people on board and leaving three others critically injured, officials said saturday.. the large, white bus was too tall for the 8-foot-6-inch entrance to the arrivals area, said airport spokesman greg chin.

  buses are supposed to go through the departures area, which has a higher ceiling, he said.. chin said the passengers told him they were part of a group of jehovah's witnesses headed to west palm beach.

  police said in a news release that the group had chartered the bus to take them to a church convention there-.

  It will be the bus service that will be sued, not the Watchtower corporation; you can bet your bottom dollar on that.

  so this is probably not a big revelation for anyone, but a little for myself.

  or at least a sum up of why the jws still cling to many of their beliefs and practices are to gain them notoriety and attention.

  so many of the non-witness friends i have now remember the jw kids they grew up with only because they weren't allowed to celebrate the holidays.

  About "They wanted you wearing your badge pretty much 24-7 and yes, dressed in your full suits and dresses for the drive to the site and in the evening for meals out!!!..." [NoRegrets]

  A very sharp poster commented [some time back] that one reason for that request, may be to give the average "worldly" person the impression that individual JWs are doing well financially - like typical "college graduates".

  This would offset the ugly reality that the Watchtower Society discourages college educations and issues edicts that tend to keep most of its members in the lower income levels.

  two years after rome, yesterday december 1st, day by day, we were about 100 of us demonstrating on a public square in the center of milan, italy.. .

  at about 10-11 a.m. many of us were already on the spot, installing our gazebo on the public square where we were granted authorization by the police and starting the distribution of about 4000 tracts to passersby in the surrounding squares, boulevards and streets exposing the watchtower for its teachings and instructions on discriminating those who decide to use their rights to walk away from this religious movement without to have to incur the ostracism imposed by the leadership.

  first, congratulations.. second--i think those of us who did it blindly and alone could provide you with some ideas and insights.. ok, so it's just before thanksgiving in america, the official start of the christmas season.

  this is good for you--it's the easiest holiday ever.

  Then he'd try to warm up by wrapping himself around me... (speaking of wrapping... )

  "Where do you come up with this heartless bullshit? I am disgusted in these lies and heartless comments by almost half of the people who have commented on this post.

  I spoke with an elder in this congregation, and one of the first things he said was please pray for our families.

  My mind is literally spinning at the comments on this thread. Any active JW that has doubts that comes and reads this thread is going to run back to the org and believe that what the org says about "apostates" is true.

  Puff, the original question was posted by NeverKnew - who is NOT a Jehovah's Witness:

  "Over the last few months, when I see news of JW tragedies I find the original webpages and send them to my JW friends suggesting we ALL say some prayers for the victim's families and congregations. I e-mailed this tragedy. A few minutes later, this was the response I got:

  Now, what do you think the response of ANY active Jehovah's Witness would be, to a WORLDLY person asking if they could "pray together" - WITHOUT his being a "bible study", and WITHOUT his being in a JW-controlled environment?

  Think of it this way - what if a Catholic priest or Baptist minister asked if they could "pray together" with Jehovah's Witness elders for those victimized by this tragedy?

  Then re-think your comment about "lies".
