one question that stretched theologians during the middle ages was; could god envision or make a four sided triangle or a three sided square or some other atrocity.
at first the problem seems foolish, but it really is an instance of a more fundamental problem: is god bound and limited by the laws of reason and logic or not?.
i've had this conversation on jwd before but i was never satisfied with it.

astrology is in my opinion is illogical and has no scientific basis.
is there any here who could convince me otherwise?.
I find it interesting that astrologers look at the stars and planets and their positions as having an effect on us, yet overlook the local activity of humans and our environment. I think that driving a large semi truck carrying 35,000 pounds of burritos by the hospital would have had a more dominant effect on us than the positions of Mars or Venus when we were born. I think the only celestial bodies that have a measurable effect on us are the Sun and Moon. Of course, I am assuming that gravitational tug or electromagnetic radiation from our celestial neighbors is the only sources of impact on our human existence. It seems to me that astrologers, psychics and other “new age” thinkers look for, and believe in, powers that are not physically measureable... yet, some might add.

i am watching the movie "the perfect world", and they have a scene of a jw family eating dinner and then the doorbell rings and the mother answers the door with her kids following behind.
she opens the door and there are several costumed children saying "trick of treat".
the jw mother says that they don't participate in such activities.
Wow.. Dont know how I missed this thread, but this Halloween will be my Wife's first -- she is planning on giving out really cool candy along with pencils and notebooks in kind of a grab bag. I think she wants to make up for lost time... lol

i always wondered why jw's were always so afraid of ouija(pronounced as "wee-yaw" not "wee-gee") boards.
does anyone have any speculation about who started these jw myths?.
anyone who has actually tried the board and would like to give their opinions are welcome.
TD.. I have heard the same things (living in Glendale Az) we are replete with Mormons and JW's :) -- I agree the mind is a complex thing.

has anyone ever done this?.
would be cool to be able to run custom searches like the overall incidence of certain words or scriptures on an annual basis.
i'm sure smarter than me could come up with some handy uses..... thoughts?.
It would be nice to extract all the content into somple text files.. Then you can have your way with the raw text - search words, phrases count iterations and generate frequecy reports. Woot! My data analysis skills (read nerdy) come to the forefront... lol

The mind is too powerful of a thing for me to question those who see, feel and smell (yuk!) these things. I believe you have experienced these things, and carry the marks (mental, emotional and physical) to prove it. But I am in the same boat as Nathmedeah -- I have gone to many lengths to experience "spiritistic events" with absolutely no luck... I used to play with the Ouija board as a kid -- yes the planchett would move and answer our questions, but it never told us anything we didn’t already know. If we asked it questions about the universe, God, the Devil, what the next door neighbor did with all those 55 gallon barrels - we would get gibberish answers back. This makes me believe that, at least for me, the Ouija board is nothing more than a toy that manifests our own thoughts – maybe subconsciously.
So why do other people successfully experience these things? Is our mind capable of rendering these fears as real events? And is the mind of a skeptic able to dampen them as well?

our area is hit hard by this recession.
unemployment is out the roof - close to 18%.. my wife has been trying to find work for over a year.
she has done so very diligently.
Speaking of selling things on Ebay, a friend of mine does "cleanups" for Estate Sales. He picks up all the stuff (free of charge) that didnt sell and tosses most of it - whatever semi-valuable stuff is left over, he sells on Ebay. In some cases he'll do minor touch ups on furniture to increase it's value.

i just thought of something the other day as i was ironing some of my meeting shirts.
it kinda of sucks, all the money i have invested in suits, shirts and ties, that i solely use for meetings, (not required for work).
what the hell will i do with them when i leave the org once and for all?.
I simply outgrew mine.. Both spiritually and physically
In reality they are in a storage box somewhere in the garage...

er... i'd like serious answers on this please, because it's been on my mind ever since brought up.. okay, so a friend and i were debating on aim, and it went to the paradise thing.
and he brought up a point...that i can't answer, grandma said there is an answer, but she doesn't know it.. so anyways, they say jehovah will wipe out pain in the new system.
but wouldn't he have to kill emotions and love then?
After reading some of the comments above - I think that the "Perfect State" can only mean one thing: God Like knowlege and power. There is no middle ground - this physical universe cannot contain "perfection" as described by the WTBS..

Putting on my "JW-hat".....
Emotional pain is brought on my our imperfect state of mind... If we were ever in the "A loves B, but B loves C" situation, we would be geniunely happy that B & C are happy together - we would fully understand the complex nature of human relationships and be able to live happily everafter....
Blech.. I cant beleive I wrote THAT!
Darth Fader...
The "We will be perfect" statement covers a lot of paradoxes... barf!
