What do you get when you just read the Bible?
by Nathan Natas inthis is the youtube video that was mentioned during rick fearon's six screens teleconference on may 22, 2010.. listen to what an arizona circuit servant says is the result of "just reading the bible.".
isn't it ironic that this organization's motto is "read god's word the bible daily"?.

"It seems to me you folks are worshiping the teapot instead of drinking the tea."
by BabaYaga ina friend just shared this quote with me.
he read it in "pass the jelly; tales of ordinary enlightenment" by gary crowley, in which the narrator makes witty zen observations as he wanders through his day.
while having a discussion with some jehovah's witnesses who came to his door, he tells them, "it seems to me you folks are worshiping the teapot instead of drinking the tea.

Awsome! I didnt know VH1 was going to play it. I was looking to purchase the DVD as my only option... Now I get to see it on VH1 and buy it when it comes out.
I am just depressed that they are not coming to Phoenix this tour... This means I'll have to drive a long way to see them -- if I can get that time off.
Cheers

Point taken... I guess that I gravitate more towards the JwFacts and FreeMinds format and presentation. Im sure that everyone is not like me -- as your hit counts can testify!
Good luck!

I havent been to your site until tonight. I appreciate what you do, but your presentation of the material seems a little "off". In my opinion, the dark red/glowing text and graphics and heavy "mood music" send the wrong message. It's like your wrapping a lovely gift in creepy halloween death-metal wrapping paper. Please continue to persue the truth and help people to avoid and escape the cult, but maybe a more "relaxed" presentation may win more eyeballs.
sincerely,

Questions for Leolaia (possibly the board's brainiest poster :)
by JimmyPage inleo, do you have reference books about the bible stored on your computer?
you seem to have a lot of info at your disposal that you can pull up quickly.
what is your motive for learning so much about the bible?

Governing Body 2.0
by drew sagan ini borrow the phrase gb 2.0 from alltimejeff, who used it yesterday in the post about theodore jaracz's death.. i was interested in starting a thread that addresses the new leadership regime that has emerged within the wts, especially in light of changes (albeit mundane) the organization has undertaken over the past 15 years or so.
while few of us have had close contact with the men in charge, changes they have made in recent years surly reflect a definable leadership style.
it also reveals a little bit about how they view the organization and its future.. from what i can put together, it seems that there a few obvious things to note.. - 1999 seems to be the sea change year in terms of gb appointment and might be seen sybolically as a turning point in terms of leadership for the group.

I'll bet that members in LDS and SDA churches have more $ than the rank anf file JW. A good reason could be that the JW's are not encouraged to persue careers -- for the end is sooo close.
I have spoken to several of my "ex" firends (I say "ex" as I choose to distance myself from anything JW) - they have no clue about the "deeper things" and are pretty much "sheeplike" followers -- awaiting for "Noo Light" -- I asked one friend about the new generation teaching and he said that's what he always thought it was. Clueless!!

is a college degree still worth it?as u.s. employment patterns evolve, a diploma is no longer a guarantee of a better job and higher pay.by don lee, los angeles times.

An education is what you make of it. I know way to many people that "walked" through school like a zombie only to learn enough to pass the tests. They went right back to low income jobs -- except with a bunch of debt tacked on. Like anything, school, career, marriage - you get out of it what you put into it.
