The claws are out!
by wantstoleave ini just wanted to say a big thank you to everyone on the board.
i haven't been here that long but from the time i've spent here, i feel very comfortable.
i've been on boards before (witness ones) where everyone is so opinionated, heartless and holier than thou....but this one is so different.

....actually no, they're not :)
I just wanted to say a big thank you to everyone on the board. I haven't been here that long but from the time I've spent here, I feel very comfortable. I've been on boards before (witness ones) where everyone is so opinionated, heartless and holier than thou....but this one is so different. I find everyone is balanced and respectful of others views. Whereas on witness ones I've belonged to in the past, it almost seems as if they are always striving to outdo or be better than the next witness. They find holes in each others opinions or thoughts. They belittle and put down and justify themselves with going 'by the bible'.
So again, thank you for making me feel welcome, and for helping me in my journey :)

Are you searching?
by wantstoleave inwhen i expressed my doubts about my beliefs to my parents the other day, my mom said that 'no matter what people do, they are always searching for something.
if it's not this religion, which one will you go to?'.
she gave the example that practically since time began, people have been clinging to hope in some form or another, namely religion.

As a JW Were You or Someone you Knew Falsely Accused by Elders ?
by flipper inthought i'd put this out there to see if you knew of people in the jehovah's witnesses who were falsely accused or mistreated by the " police " or elders in the congregation.
many times it's been by experiencing injustices that get us to get shaken out of our cult thinking mode and reality kicks in and the scales fall from our eyes that the wt society is just a man made organization whose leaders are no better than us - actually in many cases more unscrupulous and conniving than any of us would have ever been to each other !
i was falsely accused 2 times .

Creation - struggling
by wantstoleave ini am in the process of leaving, and those of you who have followed me will know i spoke to my family briefly the other day about my doubts, but not since.
my dad has offered the occasional prayer for various things in the past week, as well as say he wants to study with my preschoolers.
he has also added in the extra tidbits to do with jehovah being the only true god etc.

We humans measure alot of things in time. We go by time. Time is the essence of everything we do. So we like to know the beginning and end of things. Thus it seems a logical question about when time began, how did it begin, who began it.......it boggles the mind...lol. Obviously it's something we may never be able to answer, but is it enough of a roadblock to question ones belief system? Now my brain hurts... :P

I've made my Fb so private that I'm invisible...lol. Only my friends can see me on there. I don't appear in the search. So in order for me to get friends on there, I have to add them. They can't see me to add. I only have a select bunch of friends, ones I know I can trust.

That people worship something, religion or otherwise. What she was getting at was that even if I left the organisation, I would feel empty and feel the need to 'search' something out.
How do you feel about this?

Not just information to help people leave, but a community on the internet
by OnTheWayOut ina recent thread asked if ray franz's book was instrumental in people's decision to leave wts.
many left before the book was out, many left on their own without the book, most read it afterward and it was instrumental in their never going back.
a bunch of people got their information about wts from the internet.

I toyed with leaving the organisation almost 2yrs ago, but didn't because I had nowhere to go (as in others going through the same), and was too chicken to look into 'apostate' sites. By accident I came across this site back in May I think? I joined without reading anything on here. I didn't come back til about 2 or so weeks ago. Not sure what prompted me to see if my membership had been accepted after not coming back to the site in 4 or 5mths, but I'm glad I did. I feel amongst friends, even though we're countries apart. The last 2wks I've done lots of reading on here, and gained perspectives about things I'd always questioned. In fact, I look forward to logging on here every night :)

Another thing that's said when someone is suffering mental illness is 'blame Eve'. That because of her, we are all imperfect, thus we all suffer things (sickness, disease) because of her sin. Bleh!
