I will never forget an interview she gave when she played in her home town. She was so sad. Someone ask her if she went to the prom or had a date for it. No, she did not. She was from a religious family ( town) and just could never fit in. She wanted to so much but she just could not fit . I have always believed that drove her to drink and drug. Small town Texas , Bible belt back in the 50's and 60's ( and even now) was a tough place to live.

I think if she was alive today she might fit in really well on an X believers type support forum.

hatred and intolerance just kill creativity .

I have read most of all of the book about her life and there was such deep sadness about her. She understood the people she was from, she just could not fit in.

Suicide by cop , maybe,---- but she had an adorable little girl in the car with her. She risked her life too b/c they shot out the windows to the car- the child could have been easily killed. I noticed the chief ( the tall blonde) was very careful what she said. )She made a point that the officers acted appropriately and even though she did not have a gun, she had that car which is a weapon. Did you see the condition of the cop car she hit?

hey guys just to let some know, anointedjw.org out out an article about a couple who were shot in kenya because they werent muslim.

the article is called "gaining perspective" on the anointedjw.org site.pretty moving, and it really upbuilds others to stand up for their faith/one hope in christ.....especially toward the wt.

The only "problem" I am noticing is when I press the link for a post it takes me to the top of the page and not the post. I then have to scroll down the thread to find the last post. It is a bit annoying but not end of world.

grappling with conscience .

a must read, i wept by the rivers of babylon,a prisoner of conscience in a time of war, is an important self-portrait of a naive young man, terry walstrom, who in 1967 thought he was obeying his conscience when he refused to take up arms and kill.

inasmuch as he was a conscientious objector, walstrom could have availed himself of noncombatant service in the military, but he was opposed to that arrangement.

The time is probably right for this subject. At one time many would have seen anyone who did not serve in the military as a traitor but not anymore. I think many non-jws will find this book of interest. Of course there are many jws of the Vietnam era still alive and many of them did serve time in prison. Most of the ww2 folks are gone, but not all. I really think this is a group of people no one has reached out to before.

can't wait to read it and most importantly, for my husband to read it.

Eve made our periods painful

i was just remembering this teaching--that a mythical woman ate a piece of fruit 1000s of years ago after a snake told her to, and that's the reason we have menstrual pain.. you see, the bible says eve was cursed for her sin with painful childbirth.

hence we can make up extrapolate that this includes menstruation, which is just part of childbearing.

then we can make up extrapolate that this applies to all females in the entire human race today, because according to a loving god we should all share in her sin as we all have vaginas too.. i remember crying in total agony while i was insulted comforted by having this scripture and explanation read aloud to me, and thinking how much this knowledge drew me closer to jehovah made me realize what a misogynistic wackadoodle cult this was.. thor causing thunder is more plausible than this.. if dubs take midol, does that mean they are scoring jehovah's lesson?.

My husband suffered along with me every month b/c I sent him in to buy the feminine hygiene products needed. They sometimes show scenes in movies with a guy at the checkout and and the clerk "price check on Kotex maxi pads" . That always made me feel a little better knowing he had to share a little in my pain.
