You maybe referring to remarks such as this one made by Prika. When this was posted I hadn't hadn't yet interacted with Prika. It's comments such as these that have endeared her to me, so...Please read my responses to her and note how she responds.
bytheway..It is Prika, Teejay and Refiners that taught me to post old posts and make remarks. It is their second hobby. Teejay even demanded that I bring up old posts to prove my point. So, I'm only playing by their rules.

Is it really so? Is there an inner circle here?
by Celtic inbefore some of you jump down my throat thinking i'm stirring muddied waters, i'm not, but, a question has been on my mind here more often than not, who exactly is the membership made up of here, within this community, of an inner circle so to speak?
you scratch my back, i'll scratch yours etc pile of poo.. personally, i've had enough of clicky groups and cliches to last me a lifetime, so, who are these guys that try to keep others excluded from their small brained 'in club'?.

Even Worse Day
by Sirona inthanks for your support on my thread "bad day".. it seems things don't want to get better.
sorry for moaning, but i thought i'd update you all too.... firstly i saw the dental specialist today (remember, infected wisdom tooth?).
he said (after thorough examination, xray etc).

Sirona, many persons have survived with their lymph nodes removed. It's a very common for breast cancer patients to have nodes removed. Don't panic until you're diagnosed. Swollen lymph nodes could just mean your immune system is working. It may not be cancer. Your fears sound perfectly normal so get yourself to a support group soon. Take Care

rekless: My department has 20 employees and at least 7 of them have taken antidepressants at one time or another. That's about 28% of the people I work with that have taken these medications. Physicians are prescribing antidepressants more readily these days without a psych eval. bytheway... none of these people have ever been Dubs.

JW's and mental illness...stats?

thanks,.

Nancy says:
Larc is dead wrong, Bergman correct. 20% of the general population may have mental problems of some sort but here we're talking about it being so serious their is a need to lock them away. That percentage is lower than the 20%, maybe 5% which would mean, if so, that up to 20% of JWs have extremely serious mental problems that may require institutionalization. Get your facts straight, Larky.

LOL...S o, 5% of the population requires being institutionalized? LOL...Your assertion that 14 mil people in the US would required being institutionalized for mental illness is extreme. Then, your saying that about 312 mil world wide would need to be locked up, as you phrased it. I'm not aware of the real st atistics but your statistics don't seem realistic. LOL...Your saying that 20% o f all JWs need to be institutionalized? Well, maybe these statistics are your personal experience. My observations wouldn't support your claim that 20 % of all JWs need to be locked up for mental illness. Then, this thread wasn't about personal experience but statistics. How could anyone do statistical research on a group of people that would refuse to cooperate with such research? W ho provided these statistics? Larc please explain more about how these statistics are gathered. Then a re these stats considered scientific research? btw..Nancy your asserting that 20% of JWs would required being institutionalized for mental illness. Does this assertion also apply to ex-jws?

Religion Explained
by JanH inthis is about the most ambitious book title i can remember.
religious studies have been able to collect and present millions of facts about the world's religions, and made a lot of fascinating general theories about belief, myth and rituals, but it would be stretching the truth a lot to say that any general theory of religions stand out as totally convincing.. so far, nobody has even been able to produce a totally convincing defintion of the word "religion".. but if anyone can produce a book actually explaining religion in a credible way, it must be pascal boyer.
i read his book the naturalness of religious ideas: a cognitive theory of religion for my master's exam, and it was really an eye opener in many ways.
