today i was in the main office of my apartment complex.
when i was walking out i stopped one of the workers and told him that i had lived here for over a year and never once saw a jw.
i jokingly asked if they had some kind of strategy they used to keep them away.
What if it was a different person each time and the address was wrong. No one should assault another person. In my opinion.
Elsewhere what if it was your mother who was assaulted?

i have a vague recollection of elders who voluntarily took a break from their positions due to health matters or to take care of family situations.. in some of these cases it was possible for them to have some sort of understanding with the congregation that they would still be respected as elders but without the title and less assignments.. i realize this subject is somewhat stupid, but i have my reasons for asking and if anyone has sound information regarding situations where an elder can take advantage of something like this and how one would go about it, it would be appreciated.. path

Another problem with JW culture is how some of those raised in the truth have been too sheltered. Therefore, they know little or nothing about other religions and cultures.

This is true but from the other way around. I know several wives whose husbands haven't touched them for years (10 sometimes 20 years).
The elders don't want to touch this subject. There would be no elders left in the congs.

the pharisees were known for hypocrisy and for also promoting traditions of men and other non-bibical teachings.
when we look at the wtbs in light of the actions of the pharisees there are some amazing similarities.

every memorial that i ever attended, all the attendees wore serious or solemn expressions.. for crying out loud, as quoted in the friggin' article, it's supposed to be the commemoration of the death of christ!.

my father died wednesday night.
he's been bedridden, paralyzed, and tube fed for nearly five years, so it was more release than tragedy.. those of you who know my story will understand the miserable mix of emotions his passing has caused.

The whole guilt and forgiveness issue shoved itself right up my nose into my forebrain. All the good memories are so tainted by the nasty ones that strolling down memory lane with my siblings is an exercise I confess I find to be a bit strenuous.
reminded me of a speaker at a 12 step program whose abusive husband finally died. She expressed forgiveness for his mistreatment by accepting that he loved them the only way he knew how. Not that he was righteous but she needed to accept and forgive him so she could stop living in reaction to the abuse. After all he was gone and you can’t change the past or other people.
It must be difficult to greave with unresolved feeling. I know when my father dies I will be in a similar place. There’s no chance of reconciliation with my father while he's alive.

okay, i know what *my* deal is.
i'm kinda stuck in a life that i really see no way of escaping.
a big part of my deal is that i was raised without a dad who walked out on his family and so i have it in me to be the dad my dad never was.
I’m here because my husband doesn’t know I’m apostate. My Jw friends will only listen to so much they haven't labeled me apostate yet. So far they feel I'm ‘negative’. I can’t talk with my non-JW friends because they don’t understand. I need to be able to express myself without fear of reprisal.
Then I tried to join Great Crowd but they booted me after one post. I think I asked them why they were so boring. They didn’t like my attitude I guess. They don’t want to talk about real life issues. This may be the Jerry Springer Show for JWs but atleast it’s entertaining.
