i'm in need of advice:.
today a jw wrote an article in a norwegain newspaper about the pedofile catholic priests scandal in the us these days.
obviously, he enjoyed smearing them and argumented that the institution of celibacy was the root to the evil doings.. but, this jw is not personally very active - and he didn't mention anything jw-related in his article at all.
Certainly a response to a letter like that can help raise questions!
Even if he isn't an active JW it could bring about a discussion and that is what's need for the abuse issues. The WT needs to be questioned by every JW over this issue. An article in the newspaper enables them to ask without being questioned about the source. In other words they wouldn't be accused of being on the intranet with apostates.

and attacks on the catholic church's doctrines, they gave the april report of finances..... their expenses $900 and some... the collections were $500 and some, and they sent $300 and some to wt... they have a $300 some deficit.
they have to pay $12 at the bank; i was wondering if they have bounced a check :-) so.... they have in their pocket $500 and some... they asked to be generous on last night's donations.. there were only few people, half of when i last went three years ago.. circumstances brought me there to be with my daughter last night.. after the meeting, one of the speakers approached me to ask my opinion about a video they were all commenting.... i told him, "why do you want the opinion of a 'worldly person'?
No, the Catholic Church doesn't need money they are extremely wealthy. How do you suppose they became so wealthy? Do you think their hands are clean?
Yes, I agree when a people claim to be superior then they are held to higher level of scrutiny. So, in my book the WT and the catholic Church are no better that the other.

Well, I was baptized as a JW for free I was married as a JW for free I received individual instruction for free. No one ever asked me for a donation and as Francois pointed out in 20 yrs he never gave a dime. If you want the Catholic Chuch to pray for you they charge you...ever heard of prayer cards.
And like I said, in my family experience the Catholic Church has required fees for all those things. And I think your wrong it's mostly Catholics that play bingo at their church. Well, who gets the money from the Bingo but the Catholic Church of course. I've know some people to complain that they couldn't get those services from there local parish because they didn't pay to join. Now are you saying the Catholic Church has no interst in money?
I find it hard to believe that you both were not charged for the use of the Church for your wedding. Since it is the custom in my area for the Churches to charge fees.

Hey,I'm not for any religion. However, you will be judged as you judge others. I'm also for telling the hole truth about all religion not just the WT. The Catholc Church is far from clean.

Yours is an unusual Catholic Church. I wasn't treated the same way as you are being treated. But, I also wasn't someone returning from the JWs. Usually the Catholic Church charges for all the things I stated and My family has been charged for these things.
When My grandparents didn't have the money to bury their 4 yr. old son that died from the German Measles. Their Catholic Church wouldn't help them. Then the Priest told my Grandfather his son died because of his sins. That's the Church I know. Right now you are their returning glory. You are being treated differently. Just as the JWs treat new converts with extra care.
And if you realize that things cost money why are you picking on the measly $300.00 of this one congregation? The WT isn't doing anything including shunning and manipulation that the Catholic Church hasn't done since their beginning. They only wish they still had the same power over their people that they once had.

i had already started to figure out that the religion had some serious flaws but that didn't stop me from feeling like all my misfortune was brought on by my disobedience to god.

Yes, the WT says it is a matter of conscience but what do individuals actually do when faced with this decision for their sons.
I would be interested in hearing about the different cultural influences on this decision. Do you think that the religion of your families origin played a role in that decision? Such as: if your family was once Catholic, Lutheran or whatever do you think that was the influence?

In all fairness do you think you could get away without making a contribution in the Catholic church and use the facilities. You would not be able to do it with that church. You are charged for everything Baptism, Weddings, instruction for children, intruction for adults, counseling, absolutely everything .Then you are sent envelopes and sometimes told what to contribute.
Also, many churches pass the collection baskets up to 4 times each service. So compared to other religions the JWs aren't seeking money as much. Then of course and every good catholic should come out and play bingo to add to the coffers.

sometime yesterday or this morning, i was ripped off for $2,000 in cash.
the money was in an unlocked attache case inside my private room of a shared home.. i kept about $5,000 in cash in my attache case inside my bedroom.
yesterday, i spent about $2,000 of that money buying textbooks (this is my occupation), leaving $3,000 in two envelopes, one having $1,000 and the other $2,000.
