I was a regular pioneer, and I probably had a total around 15 hours the entire year. I also added hours to my husbands already low time every month just so he could continue to hold a microphone. No one noticed I was never out in service and there were 15 other pioneers in the hall I went. hehe!

I believe to some extent that is true. Personally I feel I continued to attend meetings and preaching to make myself not think about the reality that what I was doing may not be true. Almost like I had to continue to prove to myself that its true. But It was easy for me to eventually give it up as not being true and stop doing those things because I had no family or friends in the religion. I only attented for 5 years and I knew of life outside of JWs.
For someone who only knows that way of life or has all their family and friends in it and has been doing it for years, then yes I think they would continue to do it for reasons like peer pressure or for reasons that they know no other life, just like an animal who is trapped in a cage and knows nothing else. If the person has some doubts but feel they are stuck, then continueing to preach and attend meetings may be a means of justifying those doubts. Someone in that situation could have guilt if they left and guilt can be a powerful tool to motivate someone to do or not to do something.
Every person is different, every situation is different.

I recently found the Awake November 2010 issue on 'Is atheism on the march? At my mother in laws house. The first few sentences say "A new group of atheists has arisen in soceity. Called the new athiests, they are not content to keep their views to themselves. Rather , they are on a crusad, "actively, angrily, passionately trying to persuade the religious to their point of view," wrote columnist Richard Bernstein. In the yellow box when you open the page it says 'Some of the world's leading atheists are on a mission: They want to convert you to their way of thinking. But is their reasoning sound?
I personally have never seen an athiest at my door or handing out pamphlets and recording time. I myself don't go around telling people of my athiest views. I am keeping this article just in case a witness from the hall i went to stops over (yeah right).
Lets arrange the wording a little "A group of christians has arisen in soceity. Called the Jehovah witnesses, they are not content to keep their views to themselves. Rather, they are on a crusade, 'actively, angrily, passionately trying to persuade the religious to their point of view."
And: Jehovah witnesses are on a mission: They want to convert you to their way of thinking. But is their reasoning sound?
Thats more like it! haha!

I think when you have faith that your prayer is being heard, you are going to look for ways that it could be answered so you feel like there is someone listening to you. It could be a coincidence that your request is answered but if you never did pray, wouldn't that still happen????? Prayer is a way to feel better about yourself if you need to and once that coincidence happens you are going to think that a god is really there listening. I don't need prayer to feel better about myself, I just need to stay positive in life and look for good things to happen.

Restrictions on sanitation supplies at a$$emblies
by WTWizard innow that the grand boasting sessions are well under way, now is a good time to discuss what they are restricting on supplies there.
the "one towel" rule is quite famous by now.
however, i have heard scattered reports that they are rationing things like toilet paper as well.

I remember at assemblies when their was only approximately around 1,500 some people there and the guy would read the funds report and say ' this assembly is in deficit of $8,000' then remind everyone where the donation boxes were and how they would have to borrow money from the branch office to help pay for it. Seriously, it does not cost that much for a few hours to run a building. Such frauds.
